THIS was the highest SD?? THIS? Meanwhile, I've lost four top tens in five reveals...and Tom STILL hasn't lost his first. Guess we know who won that "battle".

After the last song, all bottom 10s either clear that range for someone or share space with bottom 10s surviving to the top 10, so I won't need to point that out anymore.
The fun continues with #14, the 8th highest SD. What you won't see for this song are bottom 5s and ranks between 20-30. Seems like the last part is why the SD is so high. What you will encounter, is two bottom 10s and three more bottom 15s. If it weren't for those rankings, this song might have had the power to reach top 10, with its first placer, top 5, four top 10s, and four top 20s. The song dipped from top 10 to top 30 in the early going. It plugged away in the top 20 for the rest of the rankdown.

If two people hadn't ranked #13 in their bottom 5, and one person had moved their placement up by just one, this song would be living clean. It was in the top 10 for almost half the submissions process, even touching the top 5. Four people placed this song in their top 10, six in their top 15.

We haven't seen a top 10 low SD since "Rock Your Baby" alllllllll the way down at #45. It'll become way more commonplace starting with #12. The song saw just one bottom 19 ranking; only four bottom 25s overall. It's got the goods otherwise. A top 5, five more top 10s, and three more 20s. Despite only not being in two top 20s, it never peaked in the top 10, though it hit 11 on several occasions.

A whole lot of you will be disappointed #11 was stopped short of the top 10. For a while, it looked like this was a sure thing, too. It started in the top 10, popped out to 11 about a third of the way through, climbed back to the top 5, then came crashing down. So yea, this is the 5th highest SD. Someone's 1 is cut down. Fully half of the rankings are top 10, and six of those are top 5. It could've have survived any one of the following blows and still made it to the top 10, but instead, it took all of them: only one other top 15, four rankings on either border of the top half, a bottom 20, and two bottom 5s.

Man, I wanted to see Kraftwerk make the top ten. My three biggest rooting interests are all gone. 2 | 4 | 5 | 7 12 | 15 | 17 22 | 23 32 This is such a strong rankdown, so even though this update purged the most interesting songs in this rankdown, it's hard to go wrong with this top ten all the same. I guess I'll just say it, though, and I am fully prepared to accept the consequences: "Sir Duke" has overstayed.

Crazy on You slays people, top 10 at least! Nancy's extended masterful guitar intro to Ann's ultimate voice unveil - the song encapsulates both their strengths perfectly imo.

30. Bennie and the Jets (24): Elton is one of my favorite artists ever, and Bennie is a classic... but I did like this more in the 1980s/90s than now. I love other of his songs more, 29. Superstar (15): I'm a huge fan of Karen's voice, and several of The Carpenters songs are amongst my all-time favorites. This is a pretty strong song --but I love more a few other TC songs. 28. Don't Look Back (32): This was a first listen. Good enough, but More Than A Feeling would've been much, much higher :) 27. Waiting in Vain (31): I discovered this one thanks to Annie Lennox's 3rd Medusa single. I like it, but just not as much as other Bob's songs. 26. September Gurls (35): Good enough first listen.
25. Year of the Cat (1): Wait, I might've seen the wrong post.... WTF??!!! REEEAAAALLLLYYYY?? Wow! I'm shocked! I became a fan of this song soon after I heard it back in the early 1990s. Literally, one of my favorite songs ever and in my top 10 of the 1900s. I love everything about it, but the musicality is particularly exquisite. That intro is unforgettable, as the long musical outro with that saxophone that just makes me want to relax and daydream. This is not even in my wheelhouse of genres, but I still love it, and I'm really surprised that it barely made the top half. WTF? 24. Rubberband Man (43): Freaking finally! 23. Use Me (41): Idem! I mean, at this point I'm just upset that these lesser songs made it higher than YotC >:( 22. Don't Leave Me This Way (17): I was a fan of The Communards' version, which was my first taste of this hit. And I still like it more than the original, but in cases like this, I give extra points to the original. 21. Midnight Train To Georgia (9): This is another song that it's not of a genre that I'm particularly familiar with or that I look for... and I learned of this song in the late 90s, and it was just a bit meh to me.... but I've grown to appreciate it much better with time. Quite a special melody and vocals.

20. Love Hangover - Diana RossI guess I'm fine with this rank. This is till a disco classic tho. 19. What a Fool Believes - The Doobie BrothersMicheal had some great vocals. This one a little of that Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams" vibe. That's probably why I liked it so much. 18. Family Affair - Sly & the Family StoneI didn't like this at all. Vocals sounded very amatuer 17. 25 or 6 to 4 - ChicagoThis is a great song. Good ranking. I think my favorite Chicago song is most likely one of their 80's classics. Maybe ,the underrated, "Love Me Tomorrow"? 16. Wuthering Heights - Kate BushKate doesn't do much for me. Musically and especially vocally. Sounds like Mini Mouse. 15. Crazy on You - HeartFUCK YEAH! This is my shit. Female sung hard rock. Why is it always Rock songs get the highest Sds with this crowd. What The Actual Fuck? 8D 14. Surrender - Cheap TrickThat's it! Fuck the whole rankdown. This is by far Cheap Trick's best song ever. Sometimes I just wanna ring some of yous necks. Bottoms 10's? For what? 13. Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker) - ParliamentKeep my #1 song out of the top 10 huh? Well Payback's a bitch. 12. Video Killed the Radio Star - The BugglesThe first ever Music Video that airs on MTV. I lose three top 10's in one night. This rankdown is not cool. 11. Das Model/The Model - KraftwerkThis is another New wave classic. I don't even know what's it's about, and it's still hot. This also has a bit of early Italo Disco in the melody. alright, well this night kind of sucked. Who can I see about donating some payloa so Gary Numan can win this? ;)

I can just jump in to the top 10 raw, right? Nothing much to really review. Say hi to #10! Now, say goodbye to #10. It has 6 points on "The Model", and it accomplished this via twelve total top 25 placements--among them, two top 5s, three top 10s, three top 15s, and two top 20s. Of the other four ballots, though, three had it bottom 15 and one even went as far as a bottom 10. This was the only song in the top 10 to ever hit bottom half (very early on); It had to grow into a solid top 10, and then its grasp was loosened just once, around the last quarter of submissions.
