Also, Billboard has always treated sales as artificially frontloaded. Where 100% of a fan's interest was counted towards the first week it was released. What was the alternative? My idea was something I called "aftersales". Normal Hot 100 formula (hypothetically):Sales + Radio Impressions + Streams = Hot 100 points 1 sale = 100 radio impressions/streams Aftersales Hot 100 formula: (Sales + Aftersales) + Radio Impressions + Streams = Hot 100 points 1 sale = 50 radio impressions Aftersales = (last weeks sales + last weeks aftersales)/2 So the power of sales wouldn't change, but the way they were distributed would be. 1 person buying a song in current Hot 100 formula:Wk 1: 100 points Wk 2: 0 points Wk 3: 0 points (but they're probably still listening to it week 2 and week 3) 1 person buying a song in Aftersales Hot 100 formula:Wk 1: 50 points Wk 2: 25 points Wk 3: 13 points Wk 4: 6 points Wk 5: 3 points Wk 6: 2 points Wk 7: 1 point (this simulates the person listening to it less and less each week) --------------------- Of course, this is just a fantasy scenario. Not something I would ever expect Billboard to actually do. Sales becoming irrelevant in the future will make solutions to any problems that sales might have had a moot point. |

Radio is dropping Finesse so quickly which is odd to me seeing as how huge Cardi is right now and how it is the last single off 24K magic. Oh well the song aged like milk to me anyways. Cardi B isn't huge at Top 40 radio. What formats has she done really well in? I'm not saying that she is huge at Top 40 I'm talking about her presence in general right now. Bruno however who is the lead is. |
