#08: What You Need Damn. One of my favorites of all time. The breakdown guitar solo is short but effective.

by the way, our boys cracked the US Pop Top 10 seven times & never once peaked at the same position...now if they could somehow get 3 more hits that peak at #s 4, 6 & 10:
1: Need You Tonite 2: Devil Inside 3: New Sensation
5: What You Need
7: Never Tear Us Apart 8: Disappear 9: Suicide Blonde

that was our first multiple #1 ranked song to go by the wayside...so Disco🌶️📖 , you were the only one to rank that song in the bottom half (& just barely) - wtf bro? anyway, moving on... next up we don't have any #1s fall, but we do have EIGHT Top10s & 1 lucky person chalks up another PPPPP to add to his total!

#07: Disappear Was this one from 90's? I forgot, but I really liked it for being 90's.

Disappear was my definite favorite off X. I really liked that mixed energy of the sweet, mellow verses and the more energetic choruses. Plus the remix wasn't bad.

#07: DisappearWas this one from 90's? I forgot, but I really liked it for being 90's. ¡Si! It was a hit on the Mainstream Rock and Alternative charts in late 1990, then crossed over to CHR and became a hit on the Hot 100 in early 1991.

New Sensation reached the top 5 of my personal chart and had longevity, and it was just a mid-size hit back home. However, in the 1990s this song became a classic recurrent back home --and I augmented my love toward this song with time as well. Concise, strong, energetic, with great guitar and sax sounds. An 80s classic! I'm actually surprised that it barely passed Disappear though

#06: New Sensation Another great INXS song that Barely got shut out of my top 10. I didn't realize this song had that many fans?

That's an album I never got into. 90's were a tough time for 80's bands. In particular New Wave and Synthpop bands. They were torn apart into changing with the times while still trying to keep an 80's vibe fans would relate to. The problem for most fans I knew was the absence of synths and brass. The songs lost a lot of punch. Few bands like Duran Duran, and Human League were able to infiltrate themselves among the simplicity and rawness of the 90's and still manage to score hits on the charts while at the same time still sounding like the bands we love.

ALBUM OVERVIEW: ELEGANTLY WASTED (1997)
After touring for the previous album, their contract with Atlantic ended with the release of a greatest his collection in 1994. The band decided to take a bit of a break. Everyone took the chance to refresh and spend time with family and Michael started working on a solo album. Heading back into the studio, they brought in Canadian producer Bruce Fairbarn (Cranberries, AC/DC, etc). Andrew Farriss and Fairbarn moved the direction for this next record back toward the funk and groove of their Kick fame. Critics response was mixed and the commercially they fared slightly better than on FM,DH although nowhere near their 80s heights. After returning home to Australia from a world tour, sadly Michael passed away on November 22, 1997.

So I know Doc is partial to the 80s material, but still shocked he put this so low. Nobody got a PPPPP here. Mamooshka joins Juanca & I in having only Top 10s left. That eliminates the X album. What's left you ask? 3 from Kick & 1 from The Swing.
Up next we give out not 1, not 2, but THREE PPPPPs!!! There will be three others who lose a non-top 10 & for some (if not all), it will be their last. Will our final bottom 10 be revealed? Stay tuned to find out.

There goes our final bottom 10...i'm sure Disco is thinking "Finally!". Congrats Aero, Unhinged & Glove on your PPPPP!s...next up we award two more. We also see at least one #1 fall (something that hasn't happened in awhile). In fact, half of us will lose a Top 5.

Yay, I'm finally down to only top 10s! I feel like the 3 remaining songs will go out in the opposite order of my ranks, but I'm really happy my #1 got to the top 3 -- wasn't sure if it would.

Suicide Blonde was their last personal chart-topper, and their last big hit back home. I really liked the music, including harmonica and beat/energy that had a good combo of pop, rock, dance. In a way, it was like another fun track ala Devil Inside.
Devil Inside was another personal chart-topper and arguably their most popular hit back home, with pretty good recurrent airplay back home. Another case where I really liked the music and vibe, from that guitar riff and drum sound in the more subdued beginning, to the stronger guitar sound in the bridge, and the much more energetic last minute. It's one of those songs that's always in my personal playlist. Great to see it this high in this RD/

Thing about "Suicide Blonde" is that it sounds like blatant rip off of U2's "Desire". Post 90's INXS really had a hard time exciting me. I've learned to appreciate "Devil Inside" a lot more now than when it first came out. hence it makes my top 10 INXS songs on this rankdown. The top 3 looks good. Two of those are in my top 10.

OK, we are down to the end...finally, i know, i've been slacking (sorry it's taken me so long)
NEED YOU TONIGHT vs ORIGINAL SIN
It's the heavy-weight champ vs the scrappy underdog. It's Kick vs The Swing. 19 of the remaining 24 rankings are Top10s the other 5 are: 11, 11, 13, 14 & 15. We have seven #1 ranks & three #2 ranks yet to reveal...how many are PPPPPs & who gets them?!? One song has 426 points while the other song has 405 points.

:'( :'( I'll admit that when I first heard NTUA I didn't get it, so it barely made a dent in my personal chart. However, a couple years later, especially once our local music TV station played the Kick videos in a row, it fully clicked. Since then, it's become one of my favorite rock ballads of the 1980s. I especially love the epic instrumentation, Michael's bluesy vocals, and the background vocals kicking at the end of the song. I guess it's good that at least it made the top 3...
Now I have my #1 vs #6, so I have a CLEAR favorite that I hope wins!!!

#03: Never Tear Us Apart Another song that has grown a lot on me since when it first came down. Ten years ago I would not have put this one in my top 10. The strings do it for me. Now, It sounds better with each listen.

Thanks for hosting this one, Round and Round POOB. We can hope that INXS will find a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the near future. Attachment Deleted
