I like this song....I love a good AC ballad. "Daydream" is a very difficult album to rank because I really don't hate anything on it.

Even though I’d ranked it low, I still gasped. Studio manipulation aside, the chorus is impossible to sing. You have to have lungs of steel. Incredible phrasing. I love how the song swells.

Yeah she sounds great, but not enough to make the song ultimately worthwhile in any way. A more adventurous/gritty track in the vein of UTS or LA would have been a far better addition in its place.

As has been mentioned a few times, even people who ranked "WISY" at the bottom still like it. I think it just sort of sticks out on Daydream because it's style is different from most of the other tracks (and the melody isn't quite as strong as on some of her other AC ballads). That might be a factor in the next reveal, too ;)

Welp, I'm flopping already. I thought this song was really pleasant to listen to! I did struggle with where to place it; it could have been anywhere in my top 4-7, but definitely belonged nowhere near last place. Edit: OH DAMN! Now "Open Arms" too?! Lmao flop! Her vocal to this song captivated me. It helps that I already knew the original version of the song too, but her version did all the right things. It was an instant standout from the album for me

I'll reveal one more track today. The last list submitted (looks at @antigonerising ) dropped this one down to #12. 12. "Open Arms"This is a cover of the Journey song from 1981. I love the a cappella opening as it feels like Mariah singing in the quiet of night. Mariah perhaps tried to make it her own a bit too much with the melisma, but I still really like this version. While not released as a single in the U.S., this was a single in other areas. It reached the top 10 in the UK, Ireland, and New Zealand. With this and "When I Saw You" being the bottom two tracks, it's clear the least favorite songs on Daydream are the AC ballads.This statement better have zero implications for "Forever". Regarding "Open Arms", she served vocals, of course, because Mariah. That cannot be argued. But this is a fine place for this song considering the rest of the album.
