What is the record for most consecutive weeks in the top 10 after it has debuted there? I think God's Plan could challenge it. Shape of You with 33 weeks yep, so the "total" vs "after debut" piece of this stat is no longer relevant because they are same now

At the time, it was a fun song. As soon as the summer was over I didn't want to hear it ever again.

I never got sick of Despacito. Do you know how?
I avoided listening to Bieber version.

By July, youtube wont have as much as an impact it had during SOY's run and Gods plan is already falling kinda hard on radio. I expect drake to release a new single by the time scorpion drops in june so Gods plan will continue to drop faster and harder. I do think it could spend maybe <=26 weeks in the top ten. That would be really impressive for a rap song

Bieber's next album will be Christian so he may not impact this chart quite as much

The intro is the worst part. If I do listen to the song I try to skip ahead of that part.

Despacito wasn't bad, but it got bad because of extreme airplay. I was so sick and tired of it, the radio stations didn't play anything else

Billboard Music Awards tonight. Do those usually impact the Billboard charts? Ironic if they don't.
There's a full list of performers but not actually of the songs they'll perform, I think. Shame that Imagine Dragons won't be there performing "Whatever It Takes".

If their demographic downloaded their songs illegally, then why did they buy their albums legally? That doesnโt make much sense. Rapโs album sales werenโt that big either. Loud/Teenage Dreamhad small debuts, but they ended up selling more than Thank Me Later, due to widespread appeal and longevity. When Lil Wayne sold 1 million, he was #1 with Lollipop. He wasnโt selling much in 2010. Eminem had high album sales, but he was also debuting at #1 with every song on the H100. Is there any statistic to back up that hip hop fans downloaded illegally more than other genres? Spotify and Youtube were both dominated by pop at the time, up until ~2015. Lil Wayne did 1 million first week in 2011. It was the biggest first-week of the year, looking past the 99cent fiasco with BTW. 2014 report on top torrented medias: torrentfreak.com/extratorrent-reveals-most-pirated-files-of-all-time-141206/Among the most torrented albums ever #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5 were all Urban albums. And surprise -- the most torrented album came from Drake. Further genre pirating breakdown: Artists like Drake/Wayne/Kanye/etc were selling great amount of albums, considering their singles charting was much worse and their music was being pirated much more. Hence, why now in the streaming era where a non-paying/low-paying consumer now has their listening habits measured fully, they are being represented much more on today's charts. This is actually quite interesting, and provides a whole new perspective on the supposed "genre shift" of rap now, which actually might not be a shift after all.

What about Heaven by Kane Brown in the top 10? It looks like itโs gearing up to be a hit based off of sales.

That would be really impressive for a rap song Closer got to 32 weeks without soccer moms (AC Radio) and YouTube, but it's hard (I'd say impossible for a rap song) to reach its multi-metric dominance (13 weeks at #1 on HDS, 12 weeks at #1 on Streaming Charts, and 11 weeks at #1 on radio).

Seeing the Jewel double-sided single is so odd. For one, we all know it was two separate singles. Out of that youโd think it would have actually had more weeks in the top 10.

I don't even get why it's counted tbh. I'm surprised nobody replicated a The Twist sized chart run either back then going #1 twice or something, since you could have 2 huge singles combined under 1.

The Jewel single had two distinct chart runs totaling 28 weeks for both songs. You can tell the break point by the drop followed by a sudden gain.

Sheโs basically robbed of a top 10 since itโs counted as 1 single. But my point was more since it was 2 hits with 2 runs, in a sense, youโd think its total weeks would be more.

Originally intended to be one hit one song
After You Were Meant For Me started to drop, Foolish Games was released off of Batman. The song was not going to be released as a single. It took Billboard a week to realize it already was released as a single. Which is why the chart run may look funky.
The end of the โDouble Aโ single era. Several songs before that were double A singles where both were hits in their own right
