Ariana, Christina, Harry...who else receives constant coverage and praise from Billboard as the result of a business deal?

Yeah, this all seems speculative and just asking for arguments. In before this inevitably gets locked!
(But also, BTS is the appropriate answer.)

Yes! I hadn't paid attention, but right as you posted that two different BTS things from Billboard showed up in my fb feed. Lol. The odd thing is I don't see where Billboard is a things that is going to break them in the U.S., so it seems odd to spend money there.

But that's not confirming anything and still speculation. Try again next time.

You're obviously the pressed one since you created this thread about a non-issue to make it an issue. How mad did you get when you saw that Billboard article about Demi and Christina releasing their song tomorrow? Tell me the truth.

(But also, BTS is the appropriate answer.) I see multiple BTS, Camila Cabello, Charlie Puth, and Shawn Mendes stories every week along with a few random nonevent Niall and Harry ones in addition to the Christina and Demi ones. I didn't really think that this coverage is based on some sort of deal the artists have with them because some/most of them are hot and popular now and they want to get those always important clicks and views.

If it's about clicks/views, then why aren't there more articles on bigger stars? Camila Cabello has a hit now, but she isn't exactly drawing people to magazines. Christina Aguilera is basically a non-event as the sales of her first two new songs show. BTS still hasn't done sh*t in the U.S.

Almost like the guy who writes this on every Taylor Swift article: "... this SPONSORED CONTENT resembles Billboard's editorial content, but it is PAID FOR BY SNAKE SWIFT to promote her mediocre products ... how much does THIRSTY TRAMP TAYLOR pay Billboard to keep writing these useless and meaningless articles with her name in the headline???"
Billboard is a music magazine, and as such, writes about musicians. Writing articles about more mainstream artists makes sense, no? And BTS, despite my disliking of them, are what the US knows most about K-pop. It'd be like complaining when Billboard writes about Utada Hikaru or BABYMETAL.

BTS still hasn't done sh*t in the U.S. If it hasn't happened by now, it's probably not going to. I appreciate their hustle and all the effort they have put into trying to break into the U.S. market. They definitely do have a very strong, dedicated fanbase here, but that fanbase is so small.

Chelsea Press 2 Naos If it's about popularity and the like, why isn't their coverage of Post Malone other than as part of Hot 100 and Billboard 200 recaps?

Honestly, I don't hear about Post Malone that much outside of here. No one I know is into them. Not sure what your personal experience has to do with anything. My point is that Post Malone is selling more singles and albums, and certainly has a lot more streams, then BTS and these other artists. If their coverage is about popularity, they aren't even covering one of the top 3 most current popular artists. Could it be that his team isn't paying them to cover him?

I'm not "mad," just disappointed that what used to be the 'industry bible' has become such a joke for many reasons, including being paid to promote specific artists.

Honestly, I don't hear about Post Malone that much outside of here. No one I know is into them. He hasn't done anything to relegate news outside of his chart success. No interviews, photo shoots, no television performances, and the list goes on. He posts sporadically on Instagram and when he's on Twitter it's usually just to re-tweet something pertaining to either himself or the album. Ariana hasn't released an album in a couple of years and news is brewing with a current breakup, single, album, interviews and Christina is in the same boat sans the breakup. She's coming back after 6 years without releasing an album. BTS is just now gaining traction with songs charting and topping the iTunes charts so why wouldn't you want to report on something that could very well be the next big thing here. They are doing FOUR dates just at the Staples Center showing that there is an audience. Camila came from a terrible breakup from Fifth Harmony and has managed to go on a successful tour, have the #1 album and song, and is now opening up for Taylor Swift. There are stories in all of that. Like I said before, WHERE ARE THE RECEIPTS!

He's not really newsworthy outside chart success. They even report on less popular musicians if they get a DUI or something. Because it's more newsworthy than Post Malone.

Billboard.com (to differentiate from billboard.biz) has bent over, combusted, and degenerated into some parasitic blob lapping at the wrist-scars of those who found ATRL, LD, and ONTD too mean. They cater exactly who they should to and who they want to.

Definitely Camila and BTS(despite them not having a hit in the U.S) I understand Camila because of Havana and all but why so much coverage on BTS?

Considering you only need to sell about 4k to crack top 20 on iTunes for a couple days that's probably not the main reason...
BTS generates a lot of traffic because it's very small fanbase is mostly younger females, which is one of the most active demographics on the internet. They need the clicks and page views. Same for Shawn, Camila, 5H...
Post Malone might be huge but he's not as big with their target demo, hence the relative lack of articles about him.

Lmao at anyone using a few hours of iTunes to represent anything. Not to mention other artists bomb iTunes - and more importantly streaming - and don't get the same coverage.

That's some major sh!t whether you want to acknowledge it or not.
