Yes, peacebone, I am well aware that this song sounds a lot like another particular song. I hope the original version of this song can do much better when we rank it in 1995 Alt!

What song is the last song to not escape the bottom ten? Well, #31 has the seventh-lowest standard deviation, and it looked like it would have the lowest highest ranking for a while...until it didn't. This is the first song all rankdown to spend time in the top half of the ranking, though its stay was brief, as was its stay outside of the bottom ten...though its stay outside of the bottom ten was a little longer. It's also not far away from the next couple of songs in terms of points, so it's not like it was far away from escaping, either. This is also the first song to cross the 200 point threshold.
Three people ranked this song in their bottom ten, with two posters going the extra mile and ranking it bottom five. Another six posters will lose a top half ranking, meanwhile, and one poster comes mighty close to losing a top ten ranking here.

This song and "Kiss of Death" were among my favorite songs of last year. I like "Kiss of Death" more (and it would have likely been my first top ten loss here, had I included it), but "Melt Your Mind" is decidedly more ferocious. My first top half loss, though it was probably the one I expected to lose first.31Mutoid Man - Melt Your MindPoints: 213 Standard Deviation: 8.742 (seventh-lowest)Rankingspeacebone 11 Web 15 Red 18 singingrulebritannia 18 aerodynamite 19 American Idiot 19 @jamesflame 24 rgreen0625 28 @humanshazam 29 Daryl the Beryl 30 maine 33 Troy 38 rowellfarm490 38

I wonder who else besides me, and maybe Red charted that Devo song? I did...in fact I charted 4 songs from that album My personal Top 50 is the place where 80's icons come to graze, so "Fresh" easily made my top 5. Devo - Fresh Boy, am I'm glad I sat this one out. I would have lost my #1 song really early.

#30 marks a rankdown first, as we see a song that was in the top ten for the first time. In fact, this song was in the top ten for multiple rankings, and it was in the top half for more than half of the rankdown...but it was in a constant state of free fall for most of the rankdown, eventually ending up at its lowest point.
Three posters will be shedding a bottom ten with today's first reveal, with two being bottom fives and one being mighty close to a last place ranking. Of the three top half rankings, two are top ten rankings, one a top five. Both posters will be losing their first top ten here.

#29 marks the first of many high standard deviation reveals in this set, particularly the eighth-highest. Briefly outside of the bottom ten at first, it quickly plummeted into the bottom five. Eventually, it got to the point where it bounced in and out of the bottom ten...and, as you can tell, it ended up outside of the bottom ten at the end of the rankdown.
A whopping six posters ranked this song in their bottom ten, with three posters ranking it bottom five. A couple of these bottom fives are low ones. Five posters also ranked this song in their top half, two going a little further and ranking it in their top ten. One of those rankings is a top five, and one of those top ten rankings will be that poster's first top ten loss. Neither of these top ten posters had a bad reveal last time.

#28 does not have a low SD, but not a particularly high one, either. Outside of a brief stint in the top half, this song mostly hovered in the twenties and flirted with the bottom ten. It would only spend a single ranking in the bottom ten, however, so it mostly just escaped by the skin of its teeth.
Four posters will be losing a bottom ten with this next reveal, but only one is a bottom five. Meanwhile, four posters also ranked this song in their top half, but all four rankings are top 15 or higher, and two are top tens. One is a top five, that poster's first top ten loss. Sound familiar?

This was actually one of the iffier choices for me, as I wasn't really sure what to choose for the 2017 songs. I went with this song, and I don't regret it ultimately, though I would have had a couple of the songs from this album higher in my ranking.28Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes - Modern RuinPoints: 230 Standard Deviation: 10.711Rankingssingingrulebritannia 4 peacebone 8 American Idiot 12 Web 12 @jamesflame 25 rowellfarm490 26 aerodynamite 26 Daryl the Beryl 26 maine 30 Red 31 Troy 32 @humanshazam 33 rgreen0625 38

Brace yourselves...a big one is coming. #27 is the source of the second-highest standard deviation. This song started out quite well, hanging out in the top ten early. It also hung out in the top 20 for most of the rankdown, but it wasn't able to hold on, falling...and falling...and falling some more, before ending up in the bottom 15 at the end of it all.
Five posters will be losing a bottom ten with this big reveal, with two shedding bottom fives. Four people ranked this song in their top half, while three went a little further and ranked it top ten--wait, I'm sorry, top five. And this song also has another big first: Our first #1 loss.

I was really torn on whether to rank this or my #2 at #1. I wish I could have ranked them both at #1, to be honest. In the end, I went with this song, because I figured it would need the help a little more. I am not happy to be right. Well, this certainly didn't end up being as high as some of my other previous #1s.

thanks for the shield guys, figured I'd be one of the lowest ranks here. This song (and this band for the most part) is pretty melodramatic imo and the 9 minute runtime didn't help shake that impression.

This song sounds like a video game/cartoon fan song You sound like a video game/cartoon fan song.
(I'm not sure how that works, but let's roll with it.)
It might surprise you to learn that #26 never once entered the bottom ten. In fact, it was in the top half for a decent chunk of rankings, and its lowest point was just one spot below where it ended up finishing. This was a song that was destined to finish somewhere in the middle.
Four posters will shed a bottom ten ranking with this next reveal, with two losing a bottom five and one losing a very low bottom five. Meanwhile, seven posters ranked this in their top half, though just one ranked it top ten...but it's a top five, and it's a top five for someone who has already suffered.

We're keeping up the big reveals with the reveal of #25, the fourth-highest standard deviation. For a song with such a high SD, it might surprise you to learn that its range isn't very wide. It does have a couple of appearances in the top half under its belt, but it spent most of the rankdown in the twenties, particularly in the mid-twenties.
Four posters will be getting rid of a bottom ten with the reveal of #25, and all but one are bottom fives. Two of those rankings are very low bottom fives. Seven more posters ranked this song in their top half, with two ranking it top ten--wait, again, I'm sorry, top five. There are no #1 losses this time, but at least one of the top fives comes very close.
