^Although Girls Like You is also pop as well even though Cardi B is featured in the remix. But yeah, most of the top 10 is streaming heavy.

Yeah, I don't recall if Havana was #1 the same time on both charts, but I'm certain Perfect was back in January. Edit: Havana fell from #1 on pop before it hit #1 on the Hot 100. However, Perfect was #1 on pop during its final week at #1 on the Hot 100 for the chart dated January 20, 2018. Before that, you have to go all the way back to Despacito!

Has Cardi's B chances of getting a #1 increased for the 6/23 Charts now that she has 2 songs in the top 5 now?

What is the longest time in the Top 10 before reaching No. 1? Is Psycho up there?

Thanks a lot Kanye. That means that Outside Today and New Freezer probably dropped out and will probably miss 2018 Year End List now. Eff you.

What is the longest time in the Top 10 before reaching No. 1? Is Psycho up there? I believe that Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie spent like 15 weeks at 3 and 2, usually behind Beautiful Girls and Hey There Delilah before spending a week at 1.

Outside Today was already out last week and might just barely squeeze into the bottom, it did have a good amount of time in the top 40. New Freezer was gonna miss regardless, it was much weaker than Wicked and probably won't beat Believer or Mi Gente's points even if it stays at 90 for the next two weeks. Edit: also so hyped for the Drake album bomb! This one should put him at around 185 and then he just needs one more and he'll beat the Glee cast and I think even Pusha T would celebrate about that!

Probably, you don't have to look too far back. Songs didn't routinely debut in the top 10 until about 20 years ago

^Yeah. The advent of Nielsen Soundscan's inclusion as source of data for the Hot 100 made that more prevalent.

There was a 3+ year gap between the start of Soundscan and the first top 10 debut of the 90s

Probably, you don't have to look too far back. Songs didn't routinely debut in the top 10 until about 20 years ago Well in theory a song could have debuted lower down the chart, climbed up and then still spend 10+ weeks in the top 10 before reaching #1. Like what Havana did. However, it seems like songs had shorter chart runs back then (which I'm a bit jealous of, because they can be extremely long nowadays lol). I love how Wiz Khalifa managed to get himself mentioned 3 times in the Billboard article this week, and each time because of a different song.

People keep saying the chart looks like 2004ish, but it kinda definitely seems moreso reminiscent of 1996-1998 to me now.
Many of the #1's/Top 10s are Urban songs that aren't high at radio, not even charting at Pop radio, etc. Like just not big on airplay at all.
In the 2000s by contrast the chart was essentially airplay-only, so those Urban songs were atleast high at multiple formats at radio.
During the 1996-1998 era #1's such as... Divine - Lately Sales: #1 Airplay: #32
Monica - The First Night: Sales: #1 Airplay: #23
You also had many Urban Top 10s that weren't even top 50 at radio while they were top 10: Montell Jordan - Let's Ride Sales: #2 Airplay: #59 = Hot 100: #2
Tatyana Ali - Daydreamin Sales: #5 Airplay: #51 = Hot 100: #8
Mase - Lookin' At Me Sales: #5 Airplay: #69 = Hot 100: #10
This was because ofcourse airplay-only singles couldn't chart yet, and many singles started being airplay-only. Specifically Pop/Rock singles would more likely be airplay-only, while Urban singles would still consistently get sales releases.
The Hot 100 and Radio Chart started looking like straight up different charts once "Iris" and "Don't Speak" spent months at #1 on radio and never charted on Hot 100.
Now I feel that's somewhat similar. Urban singles get ofcourse higher streaming, while Pop/Rock get better airplay so the Radio Chart and Hot 100 are just starting to look completely different. Urban having a monpoly at the Hot 100, and Pop/Rock upperhand at Radio just like 1996-1998.
This doesn't apply to new #1 hit Pyscho which is big at Radio & Streaming, but for example Kanye's new top 10 and "Lucid Dreams" going top 10 this week while having practically 0 airplay. J Cole's 3 top 10s, half of Drake's top 10s this year, etc also apply.
During 2002-2005, Radio and the Hot 100 were in-sync and direct mirrors of each other. However today, they are polar opposites.

Before late 1998, the airplay chart for the hot 100 didn’t include a lot of r&b/hip-hop stations, so those songs all likely would’ve charted much higher on airplay at the time.
But otherwise your comparison makes sense to me. The component charts aren’t aligning very closely lately which is similar to the mid-late 90s.
