On a lonely highway stuck out in the rain, Darling, all I have to do is speak your name. The clouds roll back and the waters part, The sun starts shining in my heart for you. You're right there in everything I do.

We say goodbye to our first George Strait song, this one taking 3 #1s with it from LBTrocks, countricana, and collinkottke. "Carrying Your Love With Me" was a consistent top 15 contender for most of the submission process, but never really made a run to finish any higher than that. With this song leaving, there are still 2 '90s country rankdown winners to go! Those are Brooks & Dunn's "Neon Moon", and Jo Dee's "I'm Alright".

Both "Blue Clear Sky" and "I'm Alright" should've left before "Carrying Your Love With Me" and "Heads Carolina, Tails California."

Ain't love a funny thing? One day you're givin' up the dream, And the next you're pickin' out a ring, Out of the blue clear sky.

Both "Blue Clear Sky" and "I'm Alright" should've left before "Carrying Your Love With Me" and "Heads Carolina, Tails California." This. 100% this. Both wrong. The correct George and Jo Dee songs left first. Edit: No, not back-to-back George eliminations!!

After "Blue Clear Sky" pulled out a semi-surprising victory over "Carrying Your Love With Me" in the George Strait rankdown, I was eager to see how they would stack up against each other here. And interestingly enough, BCS finished only 1 position higher than CYLWM, with only 1 point separating them!! It was a close battle between the two, with BCS being the frontrunner for most of the submission process despite being a less consistent performer. This time George Strait Junkie, sabre14, and Cody Wants Out... all lose their #1, while countricana loses his #2 immediately after losing his #1. "Blue Clear Sky" was a #1 contender early on :( RIP

Pop version of That Don't Impress Me Much >> "country" version. My rank is for pop version actually. The "country" version is not as smooth as pop version. Wow Goodbye Earl is one freaky song, but it sounds so fun! This song along with Sin Wagon from another rankdown remind me to listen to their discography...

Both George songs AND Neon Moon out before the top 10? Yikes. The heavy female bias in these rankdowns is a bit extreme IMO. Either that or people don't like actual country music.

The heavy female bias in these rankdowns is a bit extreme IMO. But it can't begin to touch the heavy male bias in country radio. And none of the female country offerings that made this Top 10 are anything short of classics, whether it be from the 90s, 00s, or 10s so idk where one would ascertain that the participants "don't like actual country music" based on these songs remaining.

I was referring to the many low rankings for the three songs I referenced. It's not really a referendum on what made the top 10, most are worthy songs.

Well I can't speak for anyone else, but I only actively dislike/don't care for two songs in this entire list. They're all rankdown winners so competition is fierce.

The last three reveals are super disappointing. Those are three of my all-time favorite songs, ever in country music. Yeeeesh.

Both George songs AND Neon Moon out before the top 10? Yikes. The heavy female bias in these rankdowns is a bit extreme IMO. Either that or people don't like actual country music. The female artists who consistently do well automatically have a target on their back in these rankdowns just because they are a female artist that does well. It's really obvious when you are a host entering lists as they come in one by one. There are numerous people, even in the participants for this rankdown, who put every male artist in their top half, and every female artist in the bottom half, with the most popular females at the very bottom... If anything, the fact that a few people like the female artists so much just makes other people feel justified to tank them. Personally, I would go so far as to say that the age bias is a bigger problem in country rankdowns than any sort of female bias. Any time you get a diverse selection of country songs like this, with a diverse collection of participants with different genre backgrounds, you are going to get a bias towards newer songs. The older the song, the more polarizing it is going to be. People tank them because they sound dated, or because they sound a little more twangy, or because they don't like the traditional instrumentation, or because they just don't know them as well... It doesn't help that many of the most prominent country fans on Pulse started getting into the genre in the mid '00s, so that decade carries a ton of nostalgic value for people. Looking at the top 10, there are only 2 songs from the '90s. "Independence Day" and "I'm Alright". Both of which should be no surprise, because they are bad-ass songs that the majority of people love despite their age. Imo, songs like "Blue Clear Sky" deserved to make the top 10 over at least half of the songs that actually did, but the fact of the matter is that songs like "Follow Your Arrow" and "My Church" are simply known by more people within the Pulse demographic, giving them a recency bias advantage :(
