Starting with "Memphis" and ending on "Tennessee"...hmm, makes me wonder if we'll hear both R&B and country materials in this album.

I didn't even notice that, she already has a song called "Memphis" on the special edition of More Issues Than Vogue (it was a Best Buy exclusive).

She said she's redoing "Anybody Wanna Buy A Heart?" album, then two months later, the Country album is coming... I enjoyed that interview..glad to see her back on the screen.

I like the new song. Much better than You. She has struggled to get this album out though.

I was harsh towards "You" when it first dropped, but now I like it. I've put the 4 pre-releases on repeat this past long weekend and really enjoyed them all. Look forward to this album!

On my first couple of listens, I do like it quite a bit, but this might be my least fav K album? Mainly because I don't think the production matches her usual standards, some really unimaginative instrumentals here. It's a tad too ballad heavy as well. And I love me a K ballad, but stronger production would have worked wonders for quite a few of them.
That being said, there's a lot to love here and she's way too powerful a songwriter/personality to deliver a true dud. So many great lyrical moments that elevate these songs, she's so raw throughout. I have a feeling this is going to grow on me a lot and become a go-to cozy album this fall/winter.

I found the album a chore to get through. Honestly, I'm a big fan of K. Michelle the artist and always admired how she managed to make strong *albums*. This one was almost painful to listen to. I don't know how to put my thoughts otherwise. It's like every song started off promisingly (I mean strictly in terms of melody and production) and then it would devolve into a repetitive, histrionic mess. I say "histrionic" solely down to the way she sang them; using a lot of her higher register and almost like shouting at times. I do love how you can hear her lyrics here and there shine -I love K. Michelle's pen game in general- but overall this record gets a pass from me, sorry. Besides "Scooch" I only loved one track, "Same Damn Show". That's a first for me on an album of hers.

Memphis Blame Yourself Wherever the D May Land Hurt Shit Only One Scooch God Knew Same Damn Show Tennessee
These are my personal favorites although I didn't hate the album overall. It's definitely not her strongest work but I attribute that to her heart not being in R&B anymore and releasing this album out of obligation vs. passion. I'm ready to see what she can do with country music and hope it doesn't take years for music on that front to surface.

I enjoyed the album. The album made me like You. Personally, I think Wherever the D May Land should be a hit; itโs quite catchy. The last 30 seconds of God Knew is my favorite from the whole album though. I have had Blame Yourself and Hurt Shit on repeat.

As predicted, this is already becoming an autumn mood, been listening to it on my hikes all week. I still wish the production was more luxe, but it's a very solid record that keeps growing on me. And it's definitely held together and elevated by her personality and song-writing. Just based on interviews, doesn't sound like she's doing anything else to push this. Which is a shame, "No Pain" especially sounds like such an easy R&B hit to me.
Did anyone buy the physical? I got it yesterday and it's beyond bare bones. A one sheet front insert with no credits or anything. The CD is actually a CD-R that they tried to gussy up as a picture disc. And the back cover has "Tennessee" as a bonus track and it's nowhere to be found on the album. Like damn MNRK, lol.

I did since I have all her other albums and wanted a complete collection. Also very surprised at how cheap the packaging was; the comic theme of the back cover was a red herring. I thought they couldโve at least included a QR code to read credits online but then I realized she doesnโt even have an actual website anymore. ๐ I know artist websites are pretty antiquated in 2023 but one would think sheโd have KMichelle/KMichelleMusic.com reserved for branding purposes if nothing else.

K made her debut at the CMA's last night performing the Judds cover with Jellyroll. Really happy for her.
Also, she said on the red carpet the album was coming out in January.

Love seeing her name pop up so much this week, she seems pretty grateful for it on social media. She also released a visualizer for "This Man." That melody switch-up at "I'm not mad, I'm sad as hell..." still hits hard.
