Madonna voiced the bible verse near the end of the video that Ariana was lip-syncing to.

Took me about 4 or so listens and I absolutely love it now. Pretty much on par with "NTLTC" which I also loved.
Parts of the production remind me of Fifth Harmony's "Angel".

Neither the song nor the video are on the level of NTLTC, but it may be slightly better than TLIC. I liked the chorus on that more, but the verses here aren't as grating. On second thought, the video isn't bad, it just has a lot of extremely cheesy visuals that bring down overall package. Cheesy? More kitschy. She's fingering a damn hurricane, which I think is intended to be hilariously iconic

Doesn't come close to "No Tears Left To Cry" (the song or video), still, it's solid. Drags a bit for me at spots and reminds me of a less enthusiastic "Side To Side", but will definitely see success.

Reading comments from the video and some are saying it is blasphemous saying God is a woman. WTF God is everyone. I’m tranfixed with the video, Ariana owns it.

Yeah, I'm not feeling the video. Several thought: -Too much CGI. A lot of it looked fake and cheap, like the galaxy hula-hoop and the scenes where she's on some tall structure with waves crashing around her. Like, obviously it's fake, but it looked extra fake here. -Did... did she finger a hurricane? -I'm lost at what the gophers were doing. The song just stops playing and an animation gopher screamed. Why? -The speech in the middle felt forced and cringe inducing. The breaking the glass ceiling part was cool and metaphoric, but then it sprouted legs and we got Lotus-inspired visuals with a shiny vag. No thanks. -Yo, why wasn't there more of the God's finger painting and the large group of people in white dancing? That s**t looked great and felt like it would be iconic if it was played into more. -Loved the painting visuals that I believe was supposed to resemble a vagina. Beautifully shot. -This girl had no emotion in the video whatsoever. So deadpan it felt awkward. -Back to the hurricane, that thing was way too far north to exist. Still, it stands out at least. LOL all of this. I have a UHD 4K TV and it really called out the cheapness of the video. I mean...I guess it was actually expensive but that's only apparent because of the computers involved and technology. The actual end result was cheapness. I still love it because of how ludicrous it all was.

Much better than No Tears Left To Cry. We do not speak about the Nicki Minaj song.

Was expecting more from all the comments here, the song is a let down to say the least. Or you could expect people to have their own opinion.

To make this more poppy for myself I mixed the vocals with Katy’s Legendary Lovers and I much prefer it. I can’t get into the original instrumental but I also can’t just ignore those incredible choir vocals

Eh, disappointed by this. NTLTC is my favorite song of the year so far so I was ready to love this, but it just missed the mark for me. I wish the swelling chorus of the last 40 seconds was throughout the whole song, and I think the talk-singing doesn’t suit her voice very well.
Maybe it’ll grow on me?

I liked the video, but it is not video of the year. Finesse exists.
Still not feeling the song. The chorus doesn’t hit hard enough in my opinion.

The video is ONE of the best of the year. It starts off kind okay, but it picks up in the second half making it a great video.

I wonder how the Bible Belt stations will respond! I don't expect it to make a huge difference (maybe a tiny one). Remember when we all thought Macklemore - Same Love was going to struggle on radio?

The video is dope, song sounds like an album filler (on first listen). It’s going to be so weird seeing this song get criticized to hell and back for the title when the lyrics clearly have nothing to do with religion.
And I love that she’s become a visual artist. I remember the “Problem” thread and everyone was dragging her for her boring videos and I said, like Rihanna, she’ll eventually get there.

Bar TLIC every video of hers these past two eras have been great. A real improvement from videos like "The Way", "Baby I" and "Problem".

It missed the top 10 on the H100 coming off of two huge hits. It didn’t struggle, but it didn’t do as well as it could have. (Although, it was a very strong #11) Still pressed about that missing top 10 tho.

I still blame that on Macklemore & RL fatigue rather than the content of the song. I'm way more pressed about "Into You" missing top 10 and hope this song doesn't share the same fate.

Its peaks there were: Pop: #5 Rhythmic: #3 Rock Airplay: #23 I am still annoyed that it only peaked at #11 :/ Worldwide (or at least in the English speaking world) it did better, though - #1 in Australia, #4 in Canada, #6 in Ireland, #1 in New Zealand, #7 in Scotland and #6 in the UK
