I have to admit I'd rather have an album bomb by Drake than by someone like J Cole, who has yet to have a HIT but somehow managed to debut 3 songs in the top 10. That's just bananas to me.

Hmmm... I mean, I've only really enjoyed 3 of his singles from 2016-2018: One Dance, Too Good and Passionfruit. So a lot of his heavily streamed hip hop singles of late haven't been on my radar, making him feel less of a force to me personally. I never really got into God's Plan or Nice for What beyond hearing them a few times on the radio without changing the station. I have been very aware of his dominance on the charts tho, so it's hard for me to argue that he doesn't feel popular when I objectively know he is. I mean, it just doesn't seem like he's ever had Beyonce, Taylor, Justin (both), Miley, Katy, Gaga levels of noteriety.....but those are the kind of numbers he puts up White privilege? Beyonce’s media coverage has always been overgrown to her sales/streams. Her tours is where she makes money.

First of all, I disagree that Drake hasn't had the same level of notoriety as the other artists mentioned. I don't quite understand what you're saying about Beyonce, but I have closely followed her whole solo career and it seems she has definitely been very famous and impactful by every measure you would deem a star so. As for Drake, I was actually thinking the opposite, that he has actually benefitted from white privilege at least to the extent that he is half white and has a lighter skin tone than many other rappers, and his speaking voice sounds very "white" as well. This for sure probably makes him a little more relatable to many young white males, which lets not forget, makes up a huge portion of the rap consumer base.

For being popular in pop music doesnt need to be genius musician or outstanding personality. In contrary - you have to be somehow politician or businessman, who builds his business and dont have any missteps or dirty scandals. A lot of artists on their peak try to change their music, so to create something meaningful - this album by Drake shows, that he is simply continuing his business and gives pop masses this emotional but mostly bland poprap, which is easy on ear.

Let's use Post Malone's album to see how Drake's Scorpion might perform on Spotify for the entire week: B&B's total streams (according to Spotify Charts): 230,996,348 Day | Streams | % of its total streams (230.9M) | Friday | 47.14M | 20.41 | Saturday | 36.23M | 15.68 | Sunday | 29.25M | 12.66 | Monday | 33.84M | 14.65 | Tuesday | 30.67M | 13.28 | Wednesday | 27.74M | 12.01 | Thursday | 26.09M | 11.30 |
If Scorpion's first day (80,482,708) is 20.41% of its weekly streams: 394,329,780 US Spotify streams. Scorpion - Saturday (June 30) update 60,612,720 streams / -24.7% (beerbongs & bentleys fell 23.2% on Saturday - April 28) Songs with better than expected updates: Nonstop, Don't Matter To Me, In My Feelings and Nice For What.

Seriously? I mean, its never that serious As a Beatles fan I love the Beatles holding their records. 5 in the top 5 will not be broken anyway, mathematically impossible on a "songs chart", now if they were ever to re-introduce a "singles chart" then it could work -LOL

Drake's 'Scorpion' Stings Streaming Competition News By Associated Press | June 30, 2018 6:20 PM EDT
Drake’s Scorpion has set a record for most one-day streams for an album on Apple Music. The streaming platform says the album has logged more than 170 million streams worldwide since its release Friday (June 29), more than doubling Drake’s prior one-day record on Apple Music with last year’s More Life. The 25-track Scorpion includes the No. 1 hits “Nice for What” and “God’s Plan.” The album features Michael Jackson on a previously unreleased track as well as collaborations with JAY-Z and Ty Dolla $ign.
The album is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

I was thinking the same thing about "I Like Me Better". It's still growing and reaching new peaks. Billboard has been lenient with 20+ week songs that are still growing during album bombs. That's why "IDGAF" charted for song long below #50.

IDGAF lost it's bullet on Pop and it's actually dropping really hard so either tomorrow or next week it should move to recurrency.

IDGAF lost it's bullet on Pop and it's actually dropping really hard so either tomorrow or next week it should move to recurrency. I was just looking at the current Hot 100 where it's #56, and this week's predictions, and I'm not sure I see a way for it to survive this week. I reckon it'll have an overall point loss given it's pretty big airplay tumble with the tracking period that ends today. I just don't see it climbing into the top 50, and I think that'll be required for survival this week since it's radio gains are over.

How does having the same skin tone make someone relatable? I never understood that. Well, it's not just skin tone, it's racial/ethnic, cultural, etc..... People tend to hang around and associate more with others who are like themselves. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, it's just a sociological fact.

I said her sales haven't matched her media coverage and the like. She's never had a truly blockbuster album along the likes of 21, Jagged Little Pill, etc. Even in the 00s her biggest sellers didn't sell as well as the biggest albums by Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, etc. I'm not saying her sales are bad by any means, but she's gotten more media coverage, awards show performances, etc than any artist so you'd think she would have sold more.

TL;DR He's inoffensive to white people While not being too corny for black people. Are we talking about the same "I only love my bed and my momma and I'm sorry" Drake here Or maybe you mean some different kind of corniness?
