I'm satisfied by the noms really...would've replaced Havana with New Rules in VOTY but nothing much

I want Finesse to win VOTY, but I'll take This Is America or God's Plan as well since they are both the most iconic videos to come out of 2018 and rightfully deserve the award.
Drake, Post and Cardi are the only artists that deserve to be nominated for Artist Of The Year but out all of them I want Post to win, they'll likely give it to Cardi tho. Havana should win Best Pop, Song of the Year should go to Drake. Best Collab for Finesse, Best Hip Hop for God's Plan, Video with a Message for 1-800-273-8255.
Cardi B will undoubtly win Best New Artist, none of the other nominees compare in sheer popularity.

^ Oh. Then maybe she hasn't learned her lesson?
Is "New Rules" video eligible? If so, it should have been nominated everywhere. Would've been my vote for Video of the Year.
I know it wasn't a major hit but Charli XCX's "Boys" should have been recognized. Best Editing at the very least, but Pop and VOTY as well.
Perhaps I'm in the minority but I think the "Apeshit" video is great, as was the "7/11" video.
Why is there a Song of the Year category?
I'll watch if there's a Gaga vanguard performance. Otherwise, I'll catch clips on YouTube.
Guessing it'll come down to "This is America" vs. "God's Plan"

When was the last time MTV based their nominations on actual videos, and not just 'popular artists/songs that happen to have videos attached to them'? I think it says more about how MTV has lost sight of what the V is supposed to stand for than them being on any particular person's nuts.
Regardless, the Taylor snub is...something. I'll leave that at that.
Mess at them still not having an r&b category. I always forget that they're still on that bullshit wave until I go to look for it and don't see it there.

These nominations are a joke. Taylor only 3 and JT getting a nomination for “Filthy” for Best Choreography over "Deilcate".

Shocked by the lack of noms for LWYMMD. I wonder if it was a conflict of interest as they premiered it last year? Seems stupid, but when was the last time a video premiered DURING the actual show? It seems dumb that they wouldn’t nominate it though. I honestly haven’t seen most of these videos. That’s why I don’t understand why MTV still does this show. I know TRL was revived but I haven’t ever seen it or heard anything about it. Why don’t they air a video during shows they produce? It wouldn’t kill them. Do MTV, VH1 or BET have the off hour shows that show videos anymore? They did years back, but I don’t check any of them bc they aren’t what I watched for anymore.

The LWYMMD snub is pretty egregious. It's as if they were waiting all year to snub it.

LWYMMD, while entertaining, was peak Taylor being unlikeable (IMO). The fact she couldn't even get a collab nom with her Lucky Leprechaun and Future is even more shocking. And I love it.

May I ask what TRULY undeserved attention Bey has got from MTV?
She's the biggest forces on planet with 116 million Instagram followers. Her last two albums (before The Carters) were landslide success stories both commercially and critically.
I don't see no grounds in saying MTV is "forcing" her etc.

While everyone wrings their hands at the Beyonce nom I'm just wondering how/why Ariana's dismal NTLTC video got even one nom.

LWYMMD, while entertaining, was peak Taylor being unlikeable (IMO). The fact she couldn't even get a collab nom with her Lucky Leprechaun and Future is even more shocking. And I love it. The End Game video is tragic. I don't think anyone actually wanted that to show up. Even with the "LWYMMD is too polarizing" narrative, they could have shown some love to "Delicate" though, on Best Pop. I like both songs but "In My Blood" and "What About Us" didn't really have that great of a music video. Switch "New Rules" with "APESHIT" on the VOTY category and it would be much better though. Even a lot of Beyoncé stans aren't really here for Everything is Love. But MTV wants them to show up and Bey and Jay weren't going to show up for a Best Collab nom, so... I think the same logic applies to some of the Ariana nods. NTLTC ain't that great of a video either.

Is Delicate really a better video than LWYMMD? I remember seeing a lot of WTF posts based on her dancing ability. Not everything she does can/should be nominated...
