I remember reading some prediction that around the last couple years of the decade, music will begin to be completely generated by AI.

I remember reading some prediction that around the last couple years of the decade, music will begin to be completely generated by AI. Thatโs super creepy, Iโm going to refuse to listen to those songs. However with that said, watch me read this thread in 10 years while having an AI generated song as my top song of 2029.

Might sound stupid for asking this, but why are music videos predicted to go away?
YouTube has ushered in a renassaince of the music video, music videos are now far more elaborate and more important than even in the MTV-era of the 80's. How would they/are they going away? YouTube/streaming isn't going anywhere is it?

Songs will spend full years in the top ten and by the end of the decade songs will start spending 20 weeks at number one regularly as streaming stalls all hits and albums will stop existing as we just get artists release a couple songs every few months

Drake continues his relentless release of music and breaks and sets several more chart records. As a result, he also extends his lead as the most streamed artist of all time and because his potency as a streaming artist, ends the 2020s decade as one of the biggest artists, if not THE biggest.

I remember reading some prediction that around the last couple years of the decade, music will begin to be completely generated by AI. That actually already exists! You can find music generated by AI on YouTube right now. It's super interesting to check out. It's pretty avant garde. I doubt it would ever take over as the main producer of music, though. The human element of art is what makes it so sought after and compelling, something an AI just can't ever capture. That being said, a completely computer generated song becoming a moderate hit isn't out of the question.

Radio will be a nonfactor in the 20s and streaming will continue to dominate into the 20s.

Might sound stupid for asking this, but why are music videos predicted to go away? It really seemed like it back in 2016, when a lot of artists started to rely more on lyric videos, dance videos and other gimmick videos instead. That was the case with "Closer", which only got a proper video very late into its chart run and "One Dance" was huge despite having no video whatsoever Things kind of turned around a year later (I guess partially due to Despacito breaking YouTube records) and now music videos pretty much have their comeback phase

Hip Hop and R&B veterans from the will 90โs make a comeback and have a commercial resurgence. You never know it could happen.

Bold/Dream Predictions for 2020 (they're called bold for a reason...don't hate!)
1. Post Malone creates an entire rock album called 1994 in homage to Kurt Cobain. The album begins with a lead single featuring Dave Grohl called "Life of a Rockstar" describing living a life that seems beautiful on the surface, but brings about depressions never anticipated (loosely related to the life of Cobain). The hook could be something like "We all know we'll never get far living the life of a rockstar." The album also features Anthony Kiedis, Axl Rose, Gene Simmons, and even surprise collabs with young rocker Yungblood and newbie to the rock world Machine Gun Kelly.
2. After adding yet another top 10 hit with "South of the Border," Ed Sheeran goes radio silent for months until he surprisingly releases the lead single to his fourth studio album "Subtract." He releases a smoother version of Shape of You called "We're Not Over Yet" with much less production as his next album will be heavily acoustic influenced. The album reminds stans of an earlier Ed who sang rap on some of his tracks and relied on his guitar and words more than anything else. The only number one comes from the lead single but other singles are mildly successful and fans leave the album extremely happy with the results.
3. Drake tries yet again to release another 25 track album. The album is immediately called "trash" by the casual listener, but Drake still manages to debut 6 songs in the top 10 of the Billboard. The songs have some longevity, but Drake no longer feels like the king. His songs feel somewhat stale, but they are still wildly successful and popular as he soon readies for his "retirement."
4. Maroon 5 continue to somehow stay relevant as they hear the roars of anger from the rest of the public. Their 7th studio album is released right before the summer and the album's first week sales do well enough to promote their summer single to #1 on the Billboard thanks in part to a wildly popular female singer (Ariana Grande? Selena Gomez?) backing up Adam Levine's vocals and making the hottest song of the summer. The final single on the album is only mildly successful as critics claim that Maroon 5 finally reached their peak and are ready to drop off from their perch of success.
5. There is a huge war that begins in the country music world. More and more country stars have crossover pop hits, once again led by Sam Hunt and his second studio album. It gets to the point that there are two "country songs" within Billboard's top 10 and both have the longevity to fight for the number 1 overall position. Country critics plant their foot in the ground and urge country radio to not play artists who have the nerve to crossover into the pop world. People who follow more of a traditional style such as Tyler Childers call out stars such as Dan + Shay, Sam Hunt, and Thomas Rhett for being "glorified pop stars." These stars clap back with their raging success. Country hits a crossroads that affects the genre for decades.
Quick hits:
6. Taylor Swift gets to #3 on the Billboard when Cruel Summer gets released as a single
7. Charlie Puth creates a bad boy image and blows up with back to back top 10 singles
8. Shawn Mendes releases his most raw album to date about falling in love with Camila (they don't break up!)
9. J Cole releases a surprise album and immediately gets a #1 hit with his lead single
10. The Tik Tok music fad peaks and dies in 2020
11. Sabrina Carpenter finally breaks through with a top 50 hit
12. Selena Gomez gets another #1 with her next album
13. Dua Lipa can't shake the sophomore slump and the Best New Artist curse continues
14. Billie Eilish continues her success when Everything I Wanted climbs back into the top 5 and remains in the top 10 for 20 weeks
15. Bruno Mars returns to the top 5 with his next single but he fails to ever get back with any of his songs on his next album

At one point, all songs in the Billboard Top 100 will be lowercase stylized.

Artists like Dua Lipa and Camila Cabello become more successful than they currently were. 2000s songs nostalgia would be more common. Did I...foreshadow "Future Nostalgia"? Lol

Billie Eilish drops 4 or 5 albums during the 2020s, remains very popular through the first half of the decade. She's still popular through to the end of the decade after changing her sound around 2025, but won't survive the dance music uprising that will start around 2028 or 2029.
A new style of Trap will emerge in 2021-2022.
Hip hop will still be dominant throughout the decade similar to how it was dominant during the 2000s.
Pop music will stop using trap beats for the most part as new genres/new subgenres become popular. These new genres will have pop anthems inspired by them, but there will be a bit less sub-genre inspired pop in the 2020s than there was during the 2010s. Hip Hop will still use Trap beats as well as some other styles which become popular during the 2020s.
Lo-Fi music reaches its top 40 peak in 2022-2024.
Bruno Mars releases an album dedicated to the late 90s/early 2000s. There may be some mid-90s style G-Funk Pop in there as well.
Someone remakes "I'm Real" by Jennifer Lopez feat. Ja Rule. This remake becomes a hit.
The charts in 2029 will be filled mostly with artists who are unknown right now in 2020. We may still see Billie Eilish (hopefully, if she can grow with her fanbase) as well as Roddy Ricch and Kendrick Lamar. Drake is a maybe.
An increasingly younger amount of artists get Top 40 hits. Gen Z will absolutely dominate the decade, then the Gen Alpha kids will start to rise in the mid-2020s. They will create a popular sound for the late 2020s which will rival the dance music uprising in 2028 or 2029.
Early 2010s music will start to be remade in the late 2020s. 2000s music nostalgia will have had a thing during the 2020s, but there will be a bit more of it during the 2030s.
Peak '2020s music' will be considered to have been popular from 2023 - 2028.

I guess this was the closest we got for someone to predict coronavirus โvirtual reality concerts will make touring less profitable, leading tours to become more rare with time.โ Considering how so many artists never can quite become touring forces in the way that some of the legends have this may be the only option where these artists can do low cost tours from their living rooms, prison cells, rehabs, and overpass/bridges.

- Harry Styles gets his first number one on the Hot 100 by having a duet with Taylor Swift - Maren Morris will get a Top 5 hit, this time with her the lead artist - Lana Del Rey will get a Top 10 hit, either as a feature artist or as lead - Gabby Barrett will be a mainstay in country, surpassing Dan + Shay as the biggest act in country - Bubblegum bass/glitchpop will crossover into the mainstream

- Akon will make a commercial comeback after Locked Up 2 does good numbers for 2 years.
- Billie will be successful for 2-3 more albums (so like 2024/25), at which her fanbase grows up past her demographic.
- Eminem will be viewed as the GOAT by the end of the 2020s, after having 2-3 successful albums and retiring gracefully.
- Crossover hip-hop hits will be more common on the Hot 100, as we will see an influx of Grime, French Hip-Hop, Italian Hip-Hop, Drill, and Arabic Hip-Hop on the charts (like a couple hits per year).
- 2000s remixes will be more popular after Jerry Sprunger and Locked Up 2 show that thereโs a market for that music.
- Mariah Carey will sadly die this decade, and her chart impact on her death week will be huge, like something we never have seen
- Billboard will manage in some way/form to incorporate listens from video game soundtracks on the chart (like listens directly from the soundtrack), and the most popular examples will be FIFA soundtrack and Madden soundtrack.

Hey everybody, im back from my 5-month long break (havnt reguarly been on since February). Heres my prediction:
Drake will release one more successful album in 2022. After that, his career path woll follow that of Eminem in the 2010s: not relevant but still successful in album sales
Billie Ellish will release a album in 2021 that completely flops and people will say her career is over
Post Malone will remain successful throughout the decade, but not THE most successful. A new artist will emerge in 2022 or 2023 that will blow up in popularity
Most artists from the 2010s will completely be irrelevant by 2024
The "Trap Rap Emo" trend will begin to decline in 2021 and be replaced by adult contemporary music. A lot of slow ballads and mediocre love songs. This trend will be short-lived, and be replaced in 2023 when a new major artist becomws hugely successful and revitalizes the industry with Afro-Pop, pop music with major african influences. This will be the dominant trend for the rest of the 2020s
The TikTok ban will result in the death of novelty songs like OTR. We will probably see ALOT less viral hits, until the late 2020s when a viral VR streaming service will bring many new viral hits to the Hot 100
