I'm a sucker for two of the Worley songs included in the rankdown, so I'm kinda bummed this didn't do better but not shocked.

Ok Sammy and Tracy didn't have much hope in going far since they were both some of the weaker singles from their careers.
And given the hate Steve usually gets I'm not shocked to see "Rock-A-Bye Heart" leave first...
but "It Doesn't Mean I Don't Love You" deserved better. :(
I like the Steve track better but I thought the catchy melody of IDMIDLY would've saved it from the bottom of the pack.
Trent Willmon also recorded the song for his 'Broken In' album.
Edit: Ok how did this become the first Darryl song out when the awful "Have You Forgotten" is in the rankdown. :(

#109. Anthony Smith - "Half A Man"
Total Points: 1,665 Average: 83.2 Year Released: January, 2003 Radio & Records: #34 Billboard Peak: #40 Rankings:g8erboi - 22 LBTrocks - 31 sabre14 - 45 austin - 71 d3vin44 - 73 rgreen0625 - 75 bboat11 - 79 Kanenrá:ke - 83 .indulgecountry - 85 collinkottke - 86 toomuchboy - 86 CoJoFan - 88 kw9461 - 94 tim - 94 gardyfan - 101 zaclord 🌈 - 105 bigfan101 - 109 someguy - 112 castleoblivion26 - 113 Cody Wants Out... - 113 Following: carriefan15"Half A Man" was the third and final single off Anthony Smith's If That Ain't Country album in January of 2003; it peaked at #34 on R&R in March. Anthony hit the top 30 in 2002 with "If That Ain't Country." The album was off UMG Nashville's imprint, Mercury Nashville. He later released an EP off James Stroud's label, Stroudavarious in 2009. He continues to sing and write songs independently.
If you didn't know Anthony Smith before this rankdown, you certainly know of his songs. He's written many songs for other artists, including "Run" and "Cowboys Like Us" by George Strait (the latter is in this rankdown), "I'm Tryin'" and "Chrome" by Trace Adkins (the latter is also in this rankdown), "Didn't I" and "What Do Ya Think About That" by Montgomery Gentry, "What Brothers Do" by Confederate Railroad, "My Worst Fear" by Rascal Flatts, "Kristofferson" by Tim McGraw and "Daisy" by Halfway to Hazard.
I love the melody of "Half A Man". The single before this one was "John J. Blanchard", which was the best song on his debut album, but the melody and instrumentation of "Half A Man" was stellar. I knew this wouldn't do good but I was hoping for better.

Songs that but men into tiny boxes of toxic masculinity <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
God, I think I hated "The Truth About Men" just as much as "Real Men Love Jesus"

I HATED Anthony Smith's voice tbh! > However, keep eliminating my bottom ten bit by bit please! He says before bracing himself for the bucket-loads of crow about to be dumped on him!

"Half A Man" is really great! I knew it would do horribly here. It's unknown and it's rock leaning, a losing combination on Pulse RD's. But I remember jamming to this back in the day! It was great rediscovering it for this RD!

I HATED Anthony Smith's voice tbh! That's a complaint that I understand, should have thought of that aspect. I'm surprised he never latched on to another label after his one UMG record. The album was really good.

Anthony was someone I figured would be polarizing and I'm not shocked this was out so early. I love the melody as well. Anthony is a great writer.

It may have been how he used his twang though sabre14; don't really know, but it just rubbed me the wrong way. Sorry. :(

#108. Darryl Worley - "Have You Forgotten?"
Total Points: 1,661 Average: 83.0 Year Released: March, 2003 Radio & Records Peak: #1 Billboard Peak: #1 Rankings:gardyfan - 3 g8erboi - 24 bigfan101 - 38 zaclord 🌈 - 46 CoJoFan - 54 bboat11 - 55 Cody Wants Out... - 70 collinkottke - 75 castleoblivion26 - 83 sabre14 - 94 LBTrocks - 96 austin - 109 rgreen0625 - 112 .indulgecountry - 113 tim - 114 d3vin44 - 115 Kanenrá:ke - 115 kw9461 - 115 someguy - 115 toomuchboy - 115 Following: carriefan15 @crapkuki23 "Have You Forgotten?" was released in March of 2003 by Darryl Worley and quickly received airplay at country radio, shooting up the chart and hitting #1 on R&R/Billboard in just 5 weeks. It stayed at #1 on R&R for six weeks and topped Billboard for seven. This song was technically off a compilation album, quite a few songs were off Darryl's I Miss My Friend album as well as his Hard Rain Don't Last debut. The next single was "Tennessee River Run" and the last was one of the new songs recorded for this album, "I Will Hold My Ground."
This song was polarizing for sure, but leaned towards the dislike department, 9 of the 20 participants put this in their bottom 10 and 5 put it last. 6 top half rankings and one top 5.

I get not liking Darryl because I don't 95% of the time, but I like this song! Any of the tankers care to share why they dislike it so much other than "it's Darryl Worley"?

Nothing like supporting a war like guilt tripping us about 9/11. Screw this song.

pleasantly surprised to see the awful "Family Tree" out so early. I have ALWAYS hated that song. I like the other two alright enough but "Family Tree" was and will always be an instant station changer. It didn't help that my Mom loved it lol
Glad both Tracy Byrd songs are gone, and that awful Anthony Smith song is gone (his voice is terrible). Now if only my 114 can go because that song is trash!
ETA: "Have You Forgotten" I have always liked and I think at the time it had a good message for a lot of good reasons. However it really hasn't aged all that well so ended up near the bottom of my ranking for songs I thought were alright.

This song is so bad. I've never liked Darryl Worley in the slightest, but his patriotic songs are especially bad.

Not at all surprised by any of the reveals thus far as many were near the bottom of my rankings.
I used to somewhat enjoy “The Truth About Men” but it hasn’t aged well and the lyrics are just completely off-putting (We like to hunt and golf on our days off, scratch and spit and cuss…I mean need I say more?). The album itself is better than this one song and I've always enjoyed the album cut "That's What Keeps Her Getting By".
It’s hard to believe that “Have You Forgotten” spent seven weeks at No. 1. I was just deploying to Iraq when this song was released and it exemplifies everything that was wrong with the war to begin with. I actually like most of Darry’s discography (“Second Wind” is great as is “Awful, Beautiful Life”), but this? Can't. Stand. It.

Kinda surprised McHayes was out so early, but given how unknown they were it shouldn't have. I love Wade Hayes' voice, but even I couldn't put it in the top half.
Lately (Been Dreamin' Bout Babies) was a pleasant surprise when doing this rankdown. I remember hearing it a few times on ACC, but I don't think I'd heard it since. I remember not caring for it back then, so I've never sought it out since (even though I think I have every other T-Byrd single), but I rather enjoyed it. I really liked the melody and found it more earnest than cheesy. Not surprised it made a quick exit though, it was a total non-event single.
I really liked Anthony Smith's other two singles (John J. Blanchard is a particular standout), but Half A Man never stuck with me - something was just off with the melody.
Pleased to see Daryl Worley's jingoistic trash is out already. I initially disliked the song because it was so tremendously overplayed but I've grown to strongly dislike most of the rah rah war songs, and this may be the worst offender.

#107. Mark Wills - "And The Crowd Goes Wild"

It peaked at #27 on R&R in late September. The second and last single off the album was "That's A Woman." It would be his final album for UMG Nashville/Mercury Nashville.
I like this song for what it is, I don't think they ever meant for it to be a high-class song. However, as a lead single? I think that was a bad decision. Mark seemed to never escape the hit that was "19 Somethin'". I know that "When You Think Of Me" suffered because of it for sure, as someone in radio once told me about the fact they rather spin the song they knew was a monster researcher. Mark never hit the top 10 again after "19 Somethin'". I did enjoy his Equity Music Group singles in the mid-2000's.

Knew someday my Pokemon knowledge would come to be useful... Geodude is a ROCK type Pokemon, so "Rock You Baby" by Toby Keith would be my guess.

#105. Rick Trevino - "In My Dreams"
Total Points: 1,590 Average: 79.5 Year Released: June, 2003 Radio & Records Peak: #34 Billboard Peak: #41 Rankings:tim - 19 toomuchboy - 25 Kanenrá:ke - 35 collinkottke - 37 LBTrocks - 53 gardyfan - 60 g8erboi - 71 sabre14 - 72 austin - 76 kw9461 - 78 .indulgecountry - 98 someguy - 100 CoJoFan - 104 rgreen0625 - 104 zaclord 🌈 - 106 bboat11 - 108 d3vin44 - 108 castleoblivion26 - 110 Cody Wants Out... - 112 bigfan101 - 114 Following: carriefan15@crapkuki23 "In My Dreams" was the comeback single for Rick Trevino off Warner Bros. Records in the summer of 2003. It peaked unbulleted at #34 on R&R in October. It was his first US charting country single in five years. The album was produced by Raul Malo, lead singer of The Mavericks and Jaime Hanna, who formed the duo Hanna-McEuen in 2005 and was a member of The Mavericks at one point also wrote songs on the album -- he's now in Gary Allan's road band. The song was written by Rick Trevino, Raul Malo and Alan Miller. Trevino had six top 10 hits in the 90's.
I knew this wouldn't do too well here but really? 9 people put this in the 100's?! This song is too good for that, imo.

#104. Aaron Lines - "Love Changes Everything"
Total Points: 1,585 Average: 79.2 Year Released: April, 2003 Radio & Records Peak: #37 Billboard Peak: #39 Rankings: g8erboi - 27 someguy - 35 bigfan101 - 44 LBTrocks - 52 kw9461 - 65 .indulgecountry - 77 d3vin44 - 78 collinkottke - 84 gardyfan - 84 CoJoFan - 86 austin - 86 rgreen0625 - 86 tim - 86 zaclord 🌈 - 89 Kanenrá:ke - 92 toomuchboy - 93 bboat11 - 97 castleoblivion26 - 108 Cody Wants Out... - 108 sabre14 - 108 Following: carriefan15@crapkuki23 Aaron Lines is from Fort McMurray in Alberta, Canada. "Love Changes Everything" was the second single off Aaron Lines' Living Out Loud album in April of 2003. It peaked in the top 40 in the summer. The song was actually the debut single for Aaron in his native Canada in 2001, off the album of the same name. After his Living Out Loud album on RCA Nashville, Sony shifted Aaron to BNA where he released "Waitin' On The Wonderful" in 2005. The single peaked at #33 on R&R and Aaron was dropped from the label. He continued to release singles and albums in Canada. In fact, "Waitin' On The Wonderful" was the most played song on Canadian Country radio in 2005 and "Lights Of My Hometown" was the most played in 2006.
I actually love "Waitin' On The Wonderful" and the singles that followed Living Out Loud. I didn't get into this song or "You Can't Hide Beautiful."
