Soooooo, we haven't gotten any lists since I opened the rd
There's still a bit of time, but now that August is upon us I am going to start giving more reminders. There are officially two and a half weeks until these albums are due :) Hopefully y'all are excited to jump into these, because this is one of our strongest overall sets yet imo!!!

I've been busy trying to get things prepared for the trek back to campus next Friday the 21st but I'm gonna try to find some time to catch up on all the rankdowns, King George included!

Just submitted my list. My big question about this album... who the hell came up with this album cover?? Feels like a comic book cover.

I was referring to something else entirely... I gave Holding My Own a few spins earlier this week until I got distracted...again. That Hidden Gems rankdown isn't helping any neither, but I promised myself that I'd do it.

I was referring to something else entirely... ....The tragic deletion of the Country Forum that is about to happen if y'all let the Pure Country rankdown flop? ;)

Also these are two of my least liked albums from him I can see why someone might say that about HMO, but Pure Country?!? I mentioned this privately to bboat11 , but I’ve long divided these two albums as being the end of era and the beginning of a new one as one of the albums was produced by Jimmy Bowen and the other by Tony Brown. While George has only had a handful of producers during his long career, those of us that have listened to his music for years and know his albums in and out are usually able to pick out the subtle differences between them. Speaking for myself, I very much split George’s career into segments by whom produced the album...so ‘81-‘83 (Mevis/Baker), ‘84-‘92 (Jimmy Bowen), ‘92 - ‘13 (Tony Brown), ‘14 - current (Chuck Ainlay). There’s distinct differences amongst those eras of which every producer helped George to both continue to reinvent himself all the while remaining true to himself all at the same time.

Yes it’s subtle changes but I love that you can classify his eras by producers. And for the record PC is the album I probably listen to the least. I just never want to listen to it.

The Tony Brown era was the BEST Pure Country really refreshed and reinvigorated George's sound imo.

I began working on Holding My Own earlier this week and something just didn't feel right to me. I liked an album track or two outside of the singles, but the overall album felt strange. This led me to believe multiple listens could give me an opportunity to grow into these songs I'm not that familiar with. Maybe Pure Country will leave a better first impression on me outside of the singles?
