I like the occasional song by him, so this could be a good way to familiarize myself with him a little more. Please, keep posting reminders, as I am working in a few rankdown at the moment, and I might forget about this. So, as long as these albums are on Spotify, then yes, I will do this :)

"Love Comes From The Other Side Of Town" has an extremely low standard deviation. Coming in last place, despite not having a single last place ranking, is very rare in rankdowns; especially ones that are this small!! This song was by no means a runaway last place, however. There were actually FOUR last place contenders for this album, and in the end they all ended up finishing within four points of each other  I don't really think this song deserved to be last place. It is not the best song on the album by any means, but it is catchy enough. |

With "Any Old Time", George Strait Junkie loses a #2 while three others lose a #3. On the flipside, myself, ClevelandRox, and gardyfan all lose their #10. This song isn't bad by any means, but I just don't find it to be a necessary song on the album. It doesn't feel like it matters at all; like the album literally would not be negatively impacted if this song had never existed and had been replaced by something else instead. Granted, it got plenty of support, so I must be in the minority here! I am just thankful this one was never a single or anything, because I am fine with it being more or less forgotten in the swell of his immense and usually perfect catalog. |

“Any Old Time” is a song that I have fond memories of from the George Strait Live! concert (I had it on VHS back then lol). It’s still a song I like to revisit from this album. I also think had there been a fourth single this would’ve been released.

Bowing out at #8, we have a song that was a major wildcard for the entire submission process! As you can see, it was a last-place contender. It was also a top 5 contender towards the end. With the final few submissions, it plummeted once again to end up finishing at #8. I have always loved this song, but I can't even totally explain why. I can definitely imagine somebody finding it boring. But I still think it is awesome!! |

And there goes my #1! "I Need Someone Like Me" is such a fantastic song. I was thrilled to see that it was on pace to be the highest album track at the beginning! And then super disappointed when the hate started pouring in and it was actually a last-place contender for a brief moment... Fortunately the results were so close that a middle ranking from indulge was able to boost this all the way back up to #7.
This has always been one of my favorite album tracks of the '80s from George. The lyrics are so clever and unique, and the melody is very catchy. I'm pleased it was able to make a slight rebound!
