Sure but does that mean it’s well-written? Is that not what this award is for? I don’t agree it’s the weakest but I agree that it’s a good *record*, not a great *song* and should have won the former category if anything. I think it at least supports it being well-written. One iconic line in and of itself doesn't make it a great song overall, but it adds to it. The reality is there are very few SOTY winners that have strong construction, a strong melody, and strong lyrics. So, for this discussion it becomes about highlighting certain aspects. I do think "Single Ladies" is at least constructed well and has some specific parts that made impact (the "ring" line but also the syllabic hook).
