Here's an early 80s new-wave classic that was successfully covered in 1988-89 by the also female-fronted Transvision Vamp. It would not go over well if a man sang it, to put it mildly.

Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj - "Bang Bang"
Any song whose chorus revolves around the phrase 'I know you want it' always comes across as forceful and unpleasant to listen. Also, the whole premise of stealing your significant other fares much worse in the audience's eyes when it comes to male artists.

Taylor Swift - Better Than Revenge
A bit controversial now for alleged slut-shaming. Would've been more controversial when it actually came out if it was by a man.

Camila Cabello - My Oh My Selena Gomez - Ring
A totally gender swapped version of The Man would incite riots.

I think some people kind of misunderstood the idea of 'switching genders' here.
Say, if "Better Than Revenge" was sung by a man, it would be about him being angry at another man for 'stealing his girl' and accusing him of being known for sleeping around. So it wouldn't gather controversy and more a criticism of sheer immaturity, even more so than Taylor's actual version, since it makes more sense for said sentiment to come from a young woman.
As for "My Oh My", a male version would be about a guy falling over a mysterious 'bad girl', and not a song from the perspective of the subject of Camila's version.
Just wanted to make things clear here, but feel free to correct me 😊

"Peacock" by Katy Perry ....yeah God, yes. 💀 That whole song is a mess as it is, but it would fare off much worse in the eyes of the public had it been sung by a man. Just imagine... "I wanna see your kitty/pussycat" 🤮 or "I wanna see your melons" 😶 or something in that vein. And to think my friends and I totally missed the innuendo when we were younger and were actually planning to perform this at our school's talent show...thank goodness our Spanish teacher put some sense into our heads. 😅

The Man - Taylor Swift, I guess it is more if the lyrics were flipped than the gender of the artist though. If a guy sang the song it may be controversial or the opposite if people saw it as a men supporting women song.

Imagine if the word "Boy" was included in the title of this song and if it was performed by Michael Jackson.
