One in a Million - Guns n Roses A lot of racist and homophobic lyrics. The band cut it from the re-release off the album at least and seem to regret making the song. It was controversial at the time (1989). Though now I doubt it would see the light of day; a lot of awful lyrics and it doesn’t offer much musically.

"The New Style" by Beastie Boys. Which says they want to be like Jimmy Page because "The girlies I like are underage".

"The New Style" by Beastie Boys. Which says they want to be like Jimmy Page because "The girlies I like are underage". "Cool Daddy Cool" by Kid Rock for the same reasons. "Young ladies, young ladies, I like 'em underage see Some say that's statututory (but I say it's mandatory)" How many f**king assholes admitted to liking underage girls within a song and acted like it was cool? I don't think R. Kelly even did that.

I think Bell Biv DeVoe's "Do Me!" might need to change at least the first line of this: "Backstage, under age, adolescent How ya doin? Fine, she replied I sighed, I like to do the wild thing Action took place Kinda wet Don't forget The J the I the M the M the Y, yo I need a body bag"

I'm pretty sure that's slang for a condom (so is a "jimmy" or "jimmyhat"). Of course, it's the "underage, adolescent" part that's problematic.

lmao, how has nobody mentioned Born this Way? NONE of this would fly today.
Whether you're broke or evergreen You're black, white, beige, chola descent You're Lebanese, you're Orient ... No matter black, white or beige Chola or orient made
I let out the ugliest laugh every time I hear these lyrics out.

If you want to go wayyyyyyyy back, Billie Holiday's "Ain't Nobody's Business If I Do" is the height of problematic. Benny Mardones did his best to explain away "Into the Night" but I don't think anyone would buy this story today. Prince's "Morning Papers" was equally suspect, and Prince didn't even bother to disguise the fact that it was about his thinly veiled annoyance at having to wait on his then-wife Mayte, who he first met when she was sixteen, to become legal. "Age Ain't Nothin'" But a Number in 2018 would have undone both Aaliyah and R. Kelly for writing the shit and taking that pedo album cover. Patti saying "you can make a slave out of me/I'll worship you and no one else" in "Somebody Loves You" might also have caused a stir if released today.

A song from earlier this year would suddenly be controversial just a few short months later even though it's still charting?

I guess we can add Custom's Hey Mister to the list of songs involving problematic relationships with teenage girls.

Parts of Baby It's Cold Outside would be problematic today, although there was an article in maybe The Atlantic(or a similar magazine) last year about how the song was seen as sort of sex positive from the female perspective for the time.

I have never heard a body bag referred to as a condom or vice versa I liked that song back in the day and I think as a child I thought murder as well but i think it means a condom. (possibly implying he is so big he needs a body bag) Or maybe BBD were trying to make up a new slang word??? can't believe I'm typing this.... LoL.
