Doubtful that "Do What U Want" would fly today. Lady Gaga could still do it. But putting R.Kelly on it probably would ensure resistance.

Eminem would have a hard time breaking out today. His early songs involve a lot of violence toward women (Not that it stopped some rappers this year...)

"Kim" by Eminem, that song is insane but also really, really good.

Sex (I'm A) - Berlin
this is probably the most challenging part. They've replaced the "I'm a little girl" in concert.
I'm a man - I'm a boy I'm a man - Well I'm your mother I'm a man - I'm a one night stand I'm a man - Am I bi I'm a man - I'm a slave I'm a man - I'm a little girl And we make love together

Kesha's Grow A Pear would probably be considered sexist & transphobic today. I could see 3OH3's Don't Trust Me being controversial as well.
Interesting how much things have changed in just 10 years.

One in a Million - Guns n Roses A lot of racist and homophobic lyrics. The band cut it from the re-release off the album at least and seem to regret making the song. I just looked at the lyrics my god what were they thinking. Why did they think it was ok to use the N word and why didn't they get more flack for it. I understand the homophobic words and immigrants lines as that was not considered as offensive back then, but the N word was certainly offensive back then.

Blurred Lines.
"I know you want it." "What rhymes with hug me?" "Tried to domesticate you."
How did this song even become popular in the first place? I used to hear this when I was little at the kids' section of amusement parks. What is wrong with people?!?!

How did this song even become popular in the first place? Probably that groove, which is excellent. Though admittingly, the lyrics don't really bother me as much as other people.

It was already pretty controversial when it came out, though it would probably be moreso if it released today, true

I would argue it would be exactly as controversial. At the time she got flack from both ends; conservatives wanted to crucify her and gay rights activists said it commodified sexuality, and I don’t see that reaction being any different today.

Russian Roulette - Rihanna this was legit the first single after the Chris Brown incident, so nobody was gonna critique her for something this mild, especially when some of the lyrics seemed to relate to what happened.

Dire Straits- Money For Nothing, The Rolling Stones- Brown Sugar, Nirvana- Rape Me, Rod Stewart- Tonights The Night. These were all pretty controversial when first released. "Money For Nothing" would probably have lost or changed the second verse with the six-letter word that begins with F, that was usually not heard on radio even in the 80s (aside from that, when was the last time we saw a new clip of anyone playing the guitar on the MTV?) "Brown Sugar" probably wouldn't be released now, at least not with the same lyrics; Mick Jagger says that he couldn't write it today (I think some of them have been altered for performances in more recent years). "Tonight's the Night" could still work but may need some lyrical alteration, lest anyone interpret "Don't say a word, my virgin child" too literally. "17" by Rick James came up in my mix today and this thread immediately popped into my mind. I think that most songs sung by someone (usually male) expressing desire for someone 17 or younger would probably have to raise the age to 18 or older (or not specify it at all) to avoid controversy, unless the singer is a teen himself.

A lot of popular rap songs today talk about stealing girlfriends Not to mention the infamous 'nice guy anthems' like Shawn Mendes' "Treat You Better". Also, didn't Ariana Grande debut at #2 last year with a song called "break up with your girlfriend, I'm bored"? You can't get more blunt than that. 😄

Unfortunately, I think "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas would gather some controversy due to some stereotypical lyrics ('There were funky Chinamen from funky Chinatown' + names like 'Billy Chin' and 'Sammy Chung'). I don't think there was any intention to be offensive, though, and it's not a key part of the song's premise.
Alongside "Ur So Gay", Katy Perry would also have some trouble with "I Kissed A Girl" - especially due to the shift between deriding male homesexuality to sexualizing female bisexuality. I personally don't think the song is that problematic, especially when compared to "Ur So Gay", which is actually offensive, but the queerbaiting was rather distasteful.

Cher - "Half Breed" and "Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves" These for sure. Singing from the perspective of a different race is bad enough (there are some possible exceptions, I'm sure); but presenting yourself as actually being that different race (sooo many people still think Cher is Native American) is much, much worse.

I didn't realize how many hits have (implicitly or explicitly) promoted statutory rape... Wild
