Gabriella "Gabi" Wilson (born June 27, 1997), better known by her stage name H.E.R. (acronym for Having Everything Revealed), is an American singer from Vallejo, California. She has released five EPs since the year 2016 and her first compilation album, H.E.R., was released on October 20, 2017 by RCA Records. The album comprises songs from the singer's first three self-entitled EPs and has won her two Grammys ("Best R&B Album" and "Best R&B Performance") alongside nominations for "Album of the Year" and "Best New Artist".
Her second complination album, I Used to Know Her, consisting of songs from two preceding EPs ('The Prelude' and 'Part 2') and five brand new tracks, was released on August 30, 2019.

Thank you for creating a thread for H.E.R.! I love the opening & closing track. 'Lost Souls' screams Lauryn Hill. I like 'Could've Been' was good, but a little underwhelming for me.

I also love "Lost Souls" - you can clearly her the Lauryn Hill influence there.
"Feel A Way" and "Be On My (Interlude)" are also great.

Lost Souls samples or interpolates Lauryn's Lost Ones, doesn't it? I don't think that's just influence there.
I've been in a H.E.R. mood for the past couple of weeks so this EP was a really pleasant surprise! Was not expecting anything new and this really brightened my whole weekend.

I like she's being able to showcase more of her actual acoustic, spoken word sound with Part 2. My only concern is how well her audience is going to receive it. Most of her earlier work on the other EPs were more new age R&B/Trap Soul-ish. Either way, I'm glad to see her name is getting out there.

Her releasing strategy has been...interesting.
No single succeeding album/EP at all. Also, keep releasing new materials while year-old ones are climbing the charts. 'Best Part' and 'Focus' are still Top 3 on UAC and she's already 2 eras ahead.

Personally, a blend of Vol. 2 & The Prelude is the route she should go in.

I see where she's going with these EPs and I'm loving it. The Prelude took me a second to feel it because while the sound is similar to her past two EPs, it totally different in the same sense (weird). Part 2 has the same effect that I had needed time, but not as much time as the Prelude (shockingly).
Anyhow, what brilliance did she cook up with Take You There, ugh! I so want that to be a single, but the general audience couldn't appreciate the excellence. I love the way that she writes too. The lyrics are so great!

H.E.R. tour was AMAZING. She has so much clarity in her voice. Vocally, I heard a lot of Jazmine Sullivan & Brandy. I was truly impressed with her runs & rifs.
Now that her tour has concluded, I'm sure either right before or directly after the Grammys, some new material or more details on an official full length debut album should be announced &/or released.

I wondered if they would give her a win. Best R&B Album (and BNA would be wishful hoping) feels like her best bet. Performance and Song have Toni in those and I see her taking both of them. Honestly, shocked as hell about AOTY, the nomination is the award there (even though I would shoot and say she has the best release, but too premature in her artist's years to give her that yet). I'm hoping Black Panther takes that one (along with ROTY or SOTY too).

I swear y'all seeing her in concert was magnificent. She's pushing back her European tour to finish her official album, which sounds like it's dropping this spring.

I guess RCA wants to capitalize on her Grammy buzz because her "not an album but an album" is finally available on CD; saw it at FYE for $9.99.

I still find a large chunk of her music kinda snoozy, but I loved her performance last night. I wish she would bring that level of dynamism consistently to the studio.

Didn't her album come out in 2017? How was it eligible for this years awards?
I am feeling Hard Place more now.

Didn't her album come out in 2017? How was it eligible for this years awards? I am feeling Hard Place more now. She released the album in parts. Two EPs, and then a full compilation 'album' with six more songs. That last release was in October 2017, thus falling within the eligibility period for this year's show. ...and then the producers saw her sing Hard Place on tour and asked her to do that for the show instead of something from the nominated album lol.
