What an iconic top 20 songs. Probably over half of those could win this and I'd be just fine with the outcome.

A lot of great songs were eliminated tonight. In particular, I love the songs from Suzy Bogguss and Pam Tillis. The 90s was really a fantastic time for women in country music. Any of these songs would probably be my #1 in a 2018 rankdown, haha.
I agree that Lorrie Morgan is incredibly underrated. That being said though, "I Didn't Know My Own Strength" is one of my favourites of hers, probably in my top 5 from her. "Flies On The Butter" is one of my favourite songs of all time, and it's nice to see it at least spotlighted.
The remaining top 20 is fantastic though. There are a couple I would've left out to leave room for Pam, Lorrie and Suzy, but overall it's a great list. I imagine that "I Wanna Fall In Love" is probably living on borrowed time at this point (I really like it though).

Shania continues to amaze me with her strong performances in RDs despite a lot of detractors lol. #Queen
Seeing SHeDAISY still in is great. I think they’re in trouble though, along with Lila (and Shania).

tim you have my rank for Pam Tillis' "All The Good Ones Are Gone" at #5 but I ranked it at #7 and The Kinleys "Please" was my #5. I'm not surprised by some of the songs that have been tanked cause so many of you have terrible taste lol. Though the songs that remain are all good (even if some are a little overrated)

Coming up later today we're going to dip into the top 20 as I reveal the next five songs. Here is a snapshot of what's to come!
- We continue chipping away at the #1’s as four of you will see yours exit - There still remain some bottom 5’s out there and five of you will lose at least one - Two #1 country hits will bow out - The most polarizing song of the rankdown will be revealed…what could it be???
And here are a couple of hints for the next round:

Man! I Feel Like a Woman! Yea that hint was probably a bit too easy so I’ll go ahead and reveal the first song leaving the Top 20 as the video for it was inspired by the music videos for Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” and this song: 20. The theme song for the 90’s Women of Country rankdown about female empowerment leaves first as we begin to dive into the top 20. This received quite a bit of support with SHOOTER placing this just shy of his top spot along with four top 10’s and four top 15’s while castleoblivion26 loses a bottom 5. For these rankdowns I always like to choose a theme song to use as a guide in the selection of the other songs so this was the first one I thought of when brainstorming what songs to include. Everything from Lorrie Morgan’s “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength” and Kathy Mattea’s “Walking Away a Winner” to Dolly Parton’s “Eagle When She Flies” and “Wide Open Spaces” by the Dixie Chicks all helped to showcase the strength of women. And of course I had to throw in some fun songs such as Mindy’s “Guys Do It All the Time”, Deana’s “Did I Shave My Legs for This?”, and Wynonna’s “Girls With Guitars” into the mix!

"Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" is such an epic, classic song. I'm a little surprised to see it at the bottom of the top 20... Even with a little bit of dislike, I would have expected it to be at least top 15. It's such a ridiculous song, yet Shania is the perfect person to elevate it into something special. I honestly cannot imagine the '90s for women of country without this song in the picture... Perfect song to be the namesake of this rankdown!
"Single White Female", on the other hand, is one that majorly overstayed. I didn't dislike it at all; my super low ranking of it is definitely a testament to how strong the rest of the rankdown is. Still, I found it to plod, and the melody lacked the punch and spunk that the song felt like it was supposed to have. I think somebody like Reba or Jo Dee could have turned this into a masterpiece, but in its current form it kinda left me just waiting for it to end.

We say goodbye to Chely Wright's first and only #1 country hit "Single White Female". Also saying goodbye to their #1 is gardyfan along with a top 5 from George Strait Junkie and two top 10's. Myself and bboat11 weren't quite getting the message to put it in a nutshell and we lose a couple bottom 5's. This did generate enough support overall with the help of five top 15's and two top 20's which ended up keeping this song secure as a top 20 contender. I've never been the biggest fan of this song and overplay has definitely played a roll in my overall opinion of it. Even so, I much prefer some of Chely's material from her 1997 album Let Me In but it seemed she went the more contemporary country route with this single release. That said, the other two singles "It Was" and "She Went Out for Cigarettes" are far superior to this in my opinion.

Chely Wright has a few others I liked better but “Single White Female” is one of those songs that brings me back to my childhood. Yes, it was overplayed but that was a huge reason why it’s a song that stuck with me growing up. It’s got a distinctive melody and I think Chely’s raspy vocals were perfect for it.
It barely got to #1 on Billboard actually (#2 peak on R&R). It peaked during the end of Lonestar’s marathon #1 run with “Amazed.”

SHeDAISY’s debut single “Little Good-Byes” leave next as the most polarizing song of the rankdown! Pulse’s biggest fan austin and current host of the ongoing singles rankdown for them loses a #1 along with LBTrocks while two more lose a top 5. On the other end of the spectrum we have yours truly who loses another bottom 5 along with a few rankings in the low to mid 40’s. But that wasn’t enough to keep this one down as it gathered four top 10’s and four top 20’s. This remained a top 20 contender for almost the entire time and even dipped into the top 10 briefly when zaclord 🌈 came in with his top 10 ranking. I’m admittedly not the biggest fan of their output but I do enjoy some of their other material such as “This Woman Needs” and “Come Home Soon”. I’m obviously in the minority with those two songs because neither made the top 10 in their singles rankdown

I love SHeDAISY, but I'm surprised I don't like "Little Goodbyes" as much as I feel like I should... It's pretty good overall, but something just seems to be missing to elevate it from good to great. It's probably the fact that the chorus is largely background-vocal driven, while the main vocalist just sings short lines in response to them. That is a choice that pretty much always results in the song being weaker than it otherwise would have been.

Here's a hint for the next artist! Is Lila McCann still in this?!?!?! I don't even remember what her song was called, but this gif definitely makes me think of her other hit "Down Came A Blackbird".

The blackbird is of course a hint for our next artist Lila McCann as she leaves with her 1997 #3 hit “I Wanna Fall in Love”. This song remained a top 20 contender for the entire time as it was able to not get one ranking below #38. George Strait Junkie and BlueShades874 lose a top 5 while over nine lose either a top 10 or top 20. The earlier video from the tv show Walker, Texas Ranger also was a clue for Lila as she stared in an episode from 1998 where she sang the USA national anthem. This remains Lila’s most played song and one that I still hear on country radio today. It never gets old and it just makes me gush a little bit every time I hear it
