I really enjoy most Lila McCann songs I have heard...but somehow none of them have been in rankdowns yet Lmao I seem to very consistently be among the lowest rankers for her songs, either here or in the year-end rankdowns... I just love Lila's voice!!! She always makes me think of a cross between Pam Tillis and Jo Dee Messina

Sad to see "Does He Love You" miss the top 15, but looking at everything that is left, I can't decide what I would have kicked out for it to make it!!!! This is one of the most perfect top 15s ever!!!!

“Does He Love You” really needs no introduction as it remains one of the most epic country duets of all time! toomuchboy is the next one to lose their #1 while two others lose a top 5 and two more a top 10. With the help of six top 15 rankings this did briefly remain a top 15 contender, however kansasmeetsmo ’s last submission dipped this back just shy of making it (this won’t be the last time I bring up her last submission as it completely altered the top 5!).

Encore!
Chely Wright ”Just Another Heartache“ We're all familiar with her hit "Shut Up and Drive" so I wanted to feature a different song and one that has long been a personal favorite of mine. This was released as the second single from her 1997 album Let Me In but never really caught on at country radio and only peaked at #39.
SHeDAISY ”Punishment“ I selected this album track to highlight from their first album as I know it was recently mentioned in austin 's SHeDAISY artist rankdown as being a favorite and one that many of their fans wanted as a single. This song also foreshadows an artist that will be showcased later in the rankdown for the female country artists of the 2000's.
Lila McCann ”Down Came a Blackbird“ This was Lila's debut single in 1997 and has always been a favorite. I assume *most* of you are familiar with this song, but if not you should because this song slays!
Reba McEntire & Linda Davis ”Face to Face“ This was a duet from Reba's 1998 album If You See Him and I always thought it was going to be released as a single but alas it remains as a standout album track.

Yassssss, "Face To Face" absolutely SLAYS!!!!!!! Totally shits all over "Does He Love You", in my opinion I love the way Reba and Linda both realize over the course of the song that they are both being played, and decide to commiserate and both leave the guy, becoming friends united by circumstance rather than being miserable and spiteful towards each other, and forcing the cheating husband/boyfriend to be the double-loser. Plus I love how it allows both ladies to show off their high range and their low range! Huge shame this was never a hit!

It's at this point that I usually begin working on the next rankdown... so yes let me announce that I am currently finalizing the songs for the next decade featuring all of your favorite country girls from 2000 - 2009! I'm going to keep it at about 50 songs and am going through all the charts and award nominations from each year to narrow down the list. That said, if anyone has any suggestions about any artists or songs that you'd like to see showcased send me a PM and I'll take it into consideration... the theme song has already pretty much been selected though

Wow, I thought "Does He Love You" would make top 10 easy. What a shame.

A great group of songs eliminated here, but also a great top 15. I was hoping that “Does He Love You” would’ve been at least top 10 though.

First off the vocal performance on "You'll Never Know" alone should've got it top 20. Mindy slays on it!!
Seeing "I Wanna Fall in Love" out sucks but it made me play it and I always looove how I feel when it's on. Dancing at work!
Great list of songs left I'm thinking "Strawberry Wine" is going to take this but it'll be cool to see how it plays out as there's still plenty of dark horses left. (Not poor Mila though lol)

I've been putting off completing some other rankdowns so I want to try and finish them so until then I'm going to hold off on revealing any more songs until probably this weekend. In the mean time I wanted to post a song that I briefly considered at the beginning stages of this rankdown. "Standing Right Next to Me" by Karla Bonoff was included on the soundtrack for the movie 8 Seconds about the life of rodeo legend Lane Frost and has always been a song that I remember loving growing up. I wanted to use this song to showcase Karla as a singer-songwriter for the 90's since Wynonna had a top 3 hit with "Tell Me Why" which she wrote. Only a couple of you might even remember this song but it was one of my favorites from the soundtrack.

Here's a few things you can expect to see coming up: - One bottom 5 will be exiting - Song #15 has four top 5 and five top 10 rankings - Everyone placed song #14 inside their top 40 - The next three reveals do not have any #1 rankings And here's a hint for one of the songs that'll be leaving

Our first reveal of the evening is Jo Dee Messina’s number-one hit from 1999 “Stand Beside Me”. This had a gradual climb into the top 15 where it was aided by four top 5 rankings including .indulgecountry ’s #3 placement, five top 10 rankings, and three top 20’s. It only finally came to rest at #15 when the final submission came in from kansasmeetsmo . While I couldn’t find room for this any higher on my list, I’ve always enjoyed this song and is one of her hits that I still hear frequently on the radio. This was written by Stephen Allen Davis who has also written other hits such as Little Texas’ “Amy’s Back in Austin” and Reba’s “Just a Little Love” which she took to the top 5 way back in 1984.

Everyone placed the #14 song in their top 40 and one of you is about to lose a #2 ranking while four others lose a top 5.

Our second song to leave is Shania Twain’s number-one hit from 1996 “No One Needs to Know”. Many of you probably also remember this as a song that was featured in the film Twister. This remained a top 20 contender for the entire time and even looked liked it would be placing inside the top 10 as it got lots of support from the likes of someguy who put this just shy of his #1. This also got numerous #4 rankings as well four top 15 placements. This ended up settling at its final ranking of #14 as it was hindered by a few rankings in the lower to mid 30’s.

13. XXX's and OOO's (An American Girl) - Trisha Yearwood Total: 377 Average: 17.13 Std Dev: 10.09 (7th Lowest)

Next up is Trisha Yearwood’s second number-one hit from 1994 “XXX’s and OOO’s (An American Girl)” which was also co-written by Matraca Berg. This was the 7th lowest polarizing song of the rankdown and remained a top 15 contender for much of the time. This also looked to be both a top 5 and top 10 contender as it was supported by two top 5’s including someguy who with a one-two punch loses his #3 right after losing his #2 and a plethora of top 15 and top 20 rankings. Unfortunately this had to settle for #13 as it got one ranking just shy of a bottom 5 from gardyfan and a few lower 20 and mid 30 rankings.
