Sad to see both Trisha and Shania out. Both are such fantastic songs. I’m going to guess that Better Things To Do and No Place That Far leave before the top 10.

I like the predictions so far! How about a clue for #12... this has to be "Whatever You Say" and I'm not forgiving anyone who ranked it low...

Coming up two spots shy of the top 10 is Martina’s 1999 hit “Whatever You Say”. This is one a few of you predicted would be a top 5 contender and unfortunately for bboat11 and castleoblivion26 they lose their #1 song. This had a steady climb into the top 30 as it was assisted by Kanenrá:ke ’s and someguy ’s top 10 rankings and finally became a top 15 contender with Cody Wants Out... ’s top 5 ranking. This was briefly a top 10 contender a few times but ultimately had to settle for a #12 finish as it was weighted down by BackwoodsBarbie ’s bottom 5 ranking (and my ranking didn't help it's chances either). While not my favorite song from her I can see why it’s a fan favorite, but this just isn’t really a go-to song for me when I want to put on some Martina.

I'll be back in a bit to unveil the last song to miss the top 10, but until then I've got some things to do that I've put off for a night or two.

Our final song to be revealed before we get into the top 10 is Terri Clark’s debut single from 1995 “Better Things to Do” which see’s bboat11 lose his #3 right after losing their #1 song. This remained a consistent top 15 contender for much of the time as everyone but two placed this inside their top 30 and it picked up four top 5’s including LBTrocks #2 song as well as five top 10 rankings. I’ve grown up listening to this song on country radio since it’s release and have always been fan of it, but there are some other songs in her catalog that I prefer to this one…but alas we’ll have to wait and see what those might be as they're revealed in her rankdown

Encore!
Jo Dee Messina ”Let It Go“ Selected by castleoblivion26 is an album cut from the wicked-ly talented, the one and only, Adele Dazeem...err I mean Jo Dee Messina
Shania Twain ”Dance with the One That Brought You“ Highlighted from Shania's first album is this Gretchen Peters-penned song that was released as the album's second single and peaked at #55.
Trisha Yearwood ”Wrong Side of Memphis“ Released as the first single to Trisha's sophomore album Hearts in Armor is this Matraca Berg-penned song that went top 5 in 1992. Below is a video of Trisha and Matraca discussing their work together and performing this song from The Bluebird Café (song starts at about the 4:25 mark).
Martina McBride ”Be That Way“ Chosen by Pulse's resident Martina McBride expert bboat11 is an album track from Martina's 1997 album Evolution and one that many of her fans wanted released as a single. Below is video of Martina singing the song from the Grand Ole Opry.
Terri Clark ”I'm Alright“ Selected by Kanenrá:ke is an album track from Terri's 1998 album How I Feel and was co-written by fellow singer-songwriter Kim Richey. This is also one of my favorite album tracks from Terri and a song that I thought was going to be released as a single but I can't help but think that since Jo Dee Messina's hit of the same name was released in early 1998 that the label probably decided against releasing this.

My guess is SW or Fancy wins in the end, but I love all of these. Sadly, I see Patty Loveless in the lower half. I hope Alison Krauss can make top 5.

The stakes are high as we start getting into the top 10 so before I begin diving into the songs here are a few things you can expect to see:
- #10 is the fourth least polarizing song of the rankdown and will take someone’s #1 along with it - Four of the next five songs all have top 40 rankings - Two points separate #10 and #9 while only three points separate #9 and #8
It didn’t seem like that long ago that we even started getting into the top 40 so I’ll be revealing the songs at a bit slower pace over the next week, but until then keep the predictions coming!

"He Things He'll Keep Her" is the only song I don't love in this top 10 (not to say it's bad though, it just doesn't do much for me as can be said for most MCC songs), so anything else winning I'd be more than okay with.

As her folks drive away, her dad yells, "Check the oil!" Mom stares out the window and says, "I'm leaving my girl" She said, "It didn't seem like that long ago" When she stood there and let her own folks know

The first song to leave the top 10 and a surprise to some of you is “Wide Open Spaces” by the Dixie Chicks. Quite a few of you had predicted that this would not only be a top 5 contender but might win this and unfortunately for BlueShades874 they lose a #1 ranking. Everyone placed this inside their top 40 and therefore it remained a consistent top 10 and 15 challenger with the help of two top 5’s and six top 10’s with the lowest ranking from castleoblivion26 coming in at #38.

I can’t imagine some of you are going to be pleased with the next reveal as it was ranked in the top 5 until the final two lists came in.
