I don’t believe there is a defined term but a somewhat general consensus. If TPP had debuted with, say, more than 500k (I’m not gonna pick a specific number) and then opened with 150k, maybe you can call it a flop, although even then I think it could be debatable. If an album debuted with 600k albums or more the first week with their last album and then debuted with 150k, I’d say that’s a flop...but then again, as you said, everyone could have a different definition. 100k less in an opening week (250k vs 150k) shouldn’t be considered a flop. An underperformance, yes. Was PFRR deemed a flop when it opened with about 100k less than PF? No Well, she went pop and her first album sold 1.9 m and her follow up sold 900k with a rerelease and 11 releases definitely not just an underperformance but I’m glad she will get another top 10 with Barbie Dreams |

To be honest though, I was expecting Nicki to under-perform. I think Ariana Grande will as well, I don't think she will have an album bomb, I think she will just have a few album tracks make the Hot 100, but her pure sales will probably be decent/good, It's true though - they both have impeccable machines and management behind them who have - at least so far - specifically gunned for insane physical sales upon release. That's not something that works for most artists anymore. I too wasn't surprised to see Nicki's numbers - although I see it less as an underperformance and more as a natural arc in a phenomenal and record-breaking career. I think we can get a distorted perception of how most careers pan out by witnessing the Adeles, Taylors and Drakes of the world. For her to pull the numbers she's pulling and to have the following she's got on social media... she's far from flopping at this phase in her career. She's good. |

For the next #1, I think i will be a new song. Of the songs out right not, I think “Better Now” has the best chance but it’s very unlikely. If Post drops the music video before it starts dropping on airplay, it’s possible.

IMO Nicki selling her album for $5 is no more then a desperate last minute attempt to get #1 just like it was adding fefe to the album. But all of that doesn't bother me I'm more interested to see how billboard will handle this. Will they count fefe towards the SPS for Queen? Will they count it for the few days where it was added to Queen or will they include all of fefe's streams/sales towards queen for the week total. ( I hope that makes sense).
On another note I'm rooting for In my feelings to die. It would be cool to see Better now sneak in a week at #1.
