I'm trying to move on. You keep responding to everyone who says anything not in the positive about people speculating over when a legend is finally going to kick the bucket so they can make accurate chart predictions before the deadline.

You keep responding to everyone who says anything not in the positive about people speculating over when a legend is finally going to kick the bucket so they can make accurate chart predictions before the deadline. If that happened, they have a right to remember Aretha Franklin in their own way, don't ya think?. Because you choose to do it a certain way does not mean that is the correct way for all. I would find it hard to believe that anyone here was wishing for her death. Regarding how the songs chart - Aretha Franklin and any other older artists will certainly generate sales but not the streaming numbers unless there is a Drake remix that I don't know about - LOL. The people that do top 10 predictions probably have nothing to worry about anyway.

Please. Half of ya'll were speculating about when she's die and how the chart would look afterward as a result. As I said before, not particularly unlike sitting around the table deciding how to split the inheritance of your dying parent. Agree or disagree on whether it's disrespectful but that's what was being discussed. She's an accomplished human all around and she made her mark. RIP Half is a big number. This site went nuts a few years ago when all the Whitney songs recharted. This should not be any different. Discussing the bigger songs and when or if they will chart again is a form of celebrating the biggest accomplishments of the individual. As we have all seen this happen time and again. Normal for a music message board I think as none of us will be getting any inheritance from this LOL 'Celebrating life' happens differently for different people. Some people choose one method, others choose a different method, sometimes apparently those methods clash with each other But there's a HUGE difference between discussing how an artist's death is currently impacting the charts and speculating how an artist's death may impact the chart if they die on X day. One in normal. The other is morbid and void of compassion. She's a human being, not a music making machine.

I am going to step out of this now. I will leave it to the two of you to keep up that discussion. If the people that made the posts that offended the two of you step up - great, if not
this is pointless now anyway
She passed today The songs are dominating itunes and few of them may even chart
Time for the next topic

Ariana’s terrible music is quite literally killing talented musicians. Your life must be pretty s**tty. I just looked at your most recent posts and literally all of them are something negative or attacking. I went to look to see what artist you liked to say something about them and I literally couldn't find any posts you've made about a singer you like. Maybe you need to up your sex life or smoke some weed or pop a xanny or something cus it seems like you need more positivity in your life. Lmao. Get a life. We’re on a message board. I’m surprised you took the time out from defending a stranger celebrity who doesn’t know or care about your existence (Nicki Minaj) to spend all that time viewing my recent posts. 😂 Shit is really not that serious.

Someone on Twitter is saying that Ariana put out "No Tears Left to Cry" the day that Avicii died, "The Light Is Coming" the day that XXX died and "Sweetener" the day that Aretha died. Does this all add up? TLIC was released on June 20; XXX died June 18

A few thoughts here lol...first of all, Rest in Peace Aretha Franklin. I hope we see a nice showing for her on whichever chart week this would make her fall on. And I mean that in the most respectful way. I saw she currently has the entire top 4 on iTunes as well as #6.
Secondly, this Hot 100 thread is one of the biggest dumpster fires here in a while. #mess
Thirdly, what is a Gabbie Hanna?

Aretha Franklin's music sales spike after her death Maeve McDermott 6 hrs ago
Fans are revisiting Aretha Franklin's legendary songbook following the Queen of Soul's death on Thursday. Franklin's music quickly climbed the iTunes charts Thursday, with her "30 Greatest Hits" album reaching the No. 1 spot, replacing Nicki Minaj's new album "Queen." "Amazing Grace: The Complete Recordings (Live)" and "Queen of Soul: The Best of Aretha Franklin" also climbed into the top 10 albums.
Aretha Franklin, the "Queen of Soul," performs at the Wisconsin State Fair in West Allis, WI on Aug. 5, 2014. Franklin died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018 at her home in Detroit. She was 76. Her iconic hit "Respect" climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes songs' charts, while other classics including "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" and "I Say A Little Prayer," landed in the Top 5. Franklin died of pancreatic cancer on Thursday morning surrounded by family at her home in Detroit.
"In one of the darkest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our heart," her family said in a statement. "We have lost the matriarch and rock of our family." Franklin's music was a sales juggernaut, with the artist landing 100 hits on Billboard’s R&B chart -- 20 of them reaching No. 1 -- and winning 18 Grammys, becoming the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Aretha Franklin's Record-Setting Achievements on Billboard's R&B Charts News By Trevor Anderson | August 16, 2018 5:42 PM EDT
The Queen of Soul scored 20 No. 1s on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs & 10 leaders on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul, proved to be the queen of Billboard's R&B charts too. As previously reported, the icon died at her home in Detroit on Thursday, Aug. 16, at age 76.
Franklin first appeared on the Hot R&B Sides chart (now named Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs) on Oct. 24, 1960, when "Today I Sing the Blues" started at No. 22. Two months later, the song peaked at No. 10, marking her first of an astonishing 52 top 10s on the chart. The sum stands as the most among women and third overall, behind Drake's 68 and James Brown's 57.
Of Franklin's 52 top 10s, 20 ascended all the way to No. 1, tying her with Stevie Wonder for the most chart-toppers of any act in the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs' chart history (which dates to October 1958 as an all-encompassing survey for the genre). Collectively, her 20 leaders spent a combined 65 weeks in the top slot, yet another record among women.
The Queen also leads all women for most career weeks in the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs top 10 (333) and most appearances on the chart overall (96, with four credited as double-sided singles, making for an even 100 charted songs). Franklin earned her last top 10 in 1998, as "A Rose Is Still a Rose" reached No. 5, while her last entry in her lifetime is a 2014 cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," which reached No. 47.
On Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Franklin, too, was a force. She appeared on the very first ranking (then named Hot R&B LP's and dated Jan. 30, 1965) with Runnin' Out of Fools, at No. 9. Fools kick-started a run of 32 top 10 successes and 46 total charted albums on the list, both record tallies among female acts.
While Fools introduced her to the chart, her fourth charted album, I Never Loved a Man the Way I Love You, made her a legend. The 1967 set, armed with the enduring classics and R&B chart-toppers "Respect" and the title track, became the first album by any solo female artist to top the list and reigned for 14 weeks.
She quickly followed Man with another No. 1 album in 1967, Aretha Arrives, and the following year became the first woman to replace herself at No. 1 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums: Her Lady Soul ruled for 16 nonconsecutive weeks before ceding the summit to Aretha Now, which dominated for 17 frames.
With Man, Lady and Now, Franklin is the only female artist with three albums that have reigned for at least 10 weeks each on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In total, Franklin landed 10 No. 1 albums on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, a sum equaled only by Mary J. Blige for the most among women in the chart's history. Thanks to her monumental success on the flagship R&B/hip-hop rankings, The Queen of Soul, unsurprisingly, was crowned Billboard's top female R&B/hip-hop act of all-time in February 2017 and second overall only to The Temptations.

Not just Avicii and XXXTentacion, but I think even Prince and Whitney Houston did great in streaming. Let's talk about what's matters. I'm a mess is gaining on everything. I think she gonna get her first big solo hit I haven't heard this song yet, but even if Bebe Rexha never gets a solo hit I think she's had a good pop career because she's had so many hits as collaborations, and she will probably have more in the future regardless.

Avicii had one week at #34 on streaming - not sure how that translates numbers wise

OK maybe -- streaming is more established now than previously - so who knows Avicii had one week at #34 on streaming - not sure how that translates numbers wise #34 is not that high I guess, but I remember Wake Me Up went #1 on the Worldwide Youtube chart. Usually the songs do amazing on Youtube, but Youtube has been down-weighted now, and they don't do as well on Apple Music or Spotify. I looked and Numb got #29 on US Streaming, and In The End got #32. Linkin Park aren't really an "old" band, but they're from before the streaming era, and they did pretty well.

Aretha's streams on Spotify aren't that impressive, and since so much weight is apparently attributed to those nowadays, it seems unlikely she'll crack the top 10.

Aretha's songs might climb in tomorrow's and Saturday's daily reports but one top ten is probably the highest achievement possible. WHich is still great showing of legacy considering her latest proper new Hot 100 hit was in 1998.

Terrible pop updates today again. This week has been something else. I listened to Sweetener and I love the album. I'm not even an Ariana Grande fan, but I really like 9 songs off it. Easily the best-produced pop album of the year in my opinion. I think Dua Lipa had the best-produced pop album last year. Why did Ariana ever release the light is coming as a single when she had songs like everytime, breathin and borderline on there? Even better off has single-potential.
