Imagine Dragons Net Fourth No. 1 On Rock Airplay Chart With 'Natural'
8/28/2018 by Kevin Rutherford
Imagine Dragons land at No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock Airplay chart for the fourth time, with new single “Natural” rising 2-1 on the list dated Sept. 1.
“Natural,” which is the chart’s greatest gainer for the Aug. 20-26 tracking week, ascends with a 14 percent boost in audience impressions to 11.5 million overall, according to Nielsen Music.
Three of Imagine Dragons’ four songs to chart on Rock Airplay since 2017 have hit No. 1. “Believer,” which originally reached the top of the ranking on April 15, 2017, ruled for 17 weeks, while “Whatever It Takes” led for 14 beginning with the March 3 list.
The band’s other No. 1, “Radioactive,” crowned the chart for 24 weeks beginning in March 2013, holding the record for the longest streak at No. 1 in the chart’s history.
The rise of “Natural” comes thanks to the song’s appearance on all three rock radio format charts (Alternative Songs, Adult Alternative Songs and Mainstream Rock Songs), though it hasn’t yet ascended to No. 1 on any of those spin-based lists.
The song concurrently moves 3-2 on Alternative Songs, 35-31 on Adult Alternative Songs and 36-32 on Mainstream Rock Songs.
Additionally, the song rules the radio airplay-, digital sales- and streaming-based Hot Rock Songs chart for a second week and ascends into the top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100 (34-29).
“Natural” is a standalone single recorded by the band for ESPN’s 2018 college football coverage.

Janet Jackson Returns to the Hot 100 With Daddy Yankee Collab 'Made For Now'
8/28/2018 by Xander Zellner
She last hit the Hot 100 in 2015 with 'No Sleeep' featuring J. Cole.
Janet Jackson scores her 41st entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Sept. 1) as her collaboration with Daddy Yankee, “Made For Now,” debuts at No. 88.
“Made For Now” arrives with 3.7 million U.S. streams and 20,000 downloads sold in its first full tracking week (ending Aug. 23), according to Nielsen Music, prompting a No. 8 entry on the Digital Song Sales chart. It also debuts at No. 9 on Hot R&B Songs and No. 36 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Janet Jackson and Daddy Yankee perform 'Made for Now' on 'The Tonight Show' on Aug. 17, 2018 . Read More Janet Jackson & Daddy Yankee's 'Made for Now' Makes Its TV Debut on 'Fallon': Watch
Notably, the track is Jackson's 50th entry on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which launched in 1958.
Jackson last appeared on the Hot 100 in 2015, with “No Sleeep,” featuring J. Cole, which peaked at No. 63. Prior to that, “Feedback” reached No. 19 in 2008.
Jackson has one of the most impressive resumes in Hot 100 history. Of her 41 total entries, the singer has earned 10 No. 1s (tied with Stevie Wonder for eighth-most all-time) and 27 top 10s (tied with Elton John for, also, eighth-most all-time), dating back to her debut chart hit “Young Love” in 1982.
As for Daddy Yankee, the track is his third entry on the Hot 100 since his massive hit “Despacito,” with Luis Fonsi featuring Justin Bieber, spent 16 weeks at No. 1. “Made For Now” earns the Latin star his 10th career Hot 100 hit.

I didn't realize Janet's first hit was actually before Madonna's first hit, even though Janet is 8 years younger.
Made For Now is a really nice track -- probably would've been an easy top ten for her back in the day.
I wonder if she or any of the other 80s/90s divas will ever have a true "smash" again.
Looking back:
Janet Last Hot 100 hit: Made For Now #88 (2018) Last Top 10 hit: Someone to Call My Lover #3 (2001) Last #1: All For You (2001)
Mariah Carey Last Hot 100 hit: I Don't #89 (2017)* Last Top 10 hit: Obsessed #7 (2009)* Last #1: Touch My Body (2008) *AIWFCIY is her most recent Hot 100/Top 10 placement at #9 in 2017
Madonna Last Hot 100 hit: Bitch I'm Madonna #84 (2015) Last Top 10 hit: Give Me All Your Luvin #10 (2012) Last #1: Music (2000)
I suppose it's possible Celine Dion or Whitney Houston could have another hit, but it would require something pretty extreme in both cases.

No Aretha re-entries at all. I wasn't expecting Prince level entries, but given the prolonged media attention, maybe 2? yeah, it's kind of disappointing.

Plus, chart action for Lauv, Calvin Harris, Sam Smith, Benny Blanco and more.
Bastille scores its first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 2014’s “Pompeii,” as the group’s collaboration with Marshmello “Happier" debuts at No. 63 on the list dated Sept. 1. The English indie pop group landed two tracks on the Hot 100 in 2014: “Pompeii” reached No. 5 in March, while “Bad Blood” spent one week on the chart at No. 95 in April.
“Happier” arrives with 6.1 million U.S. streams and 14,000 downloads sold in the tracking week ending Aug. 23, according to Nielsen Music. The song concurrently starts at No. 29 on the Alternative Songs airplay chart and No. 7 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
As for Marshmello, the single earns the DJ his sixth Hot 100 entry and fifth top 10 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. He previously reached the region with “Alone,” “Silence,” featuring Khalid, “Wolves,” with Selena Gomez, and “Fly,” featuring Leah Culver. “Silence” and “Wolves” both hit No. 1.
Who else makes noteworthy Hot 100 chart moves this week?
Benny Blanco, Halsey and Khalid’s collaborative hit “Eastside” continues to scale the Billboard Hot 100, as the single rockets 48-31 in its sixth charting frame (chart dated Sept. 1). The track concurrently climbs 34-23 on the Streaming Songs chart with 14.7 million U.S. streams.
The track earned the veteran pop producer/songwriter his first entry on the Hot 100 as an artist, and now scores him his first top 40.
Blanco, 30, has co-written and/or co-produced some of the biggest pop hits of the past decade, including such Hot 100 No. 1s as Kesha's "TiK ToK" and "We R Who We R;" Katy Perry's "California Gurls," featuring Snoop Dogg, and "Teenage Dream;" Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger,” featuring Christina Aguilera; Rihanna's "Diamonds;" and Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself."
“Eastside” also earns both Halsey and Khalid their sixth top 40 entries.
“Promises,” Calvin Harris & Sam Smith
The collab arrives at No. 65 on the Hot 100, while starting at No. 8 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. It also starts at No. 40 on the Pop Songs airplay chart with 5.1 million format audience impressions in the week ending Aug. 26. The song features guest vocals from Canadian singer-songwriter Jessie Reyez.
“I Like Me Better,” Lauv
Lauv’s breakout hit shoots from No. 39 to No. 28 on the Hot 100, helping it debut at No. 27 on Digital Song Sales, as the track receives a 117 percent sales gain, logging 10,000 downloads sold. The song concurrently reaches a new peak on the Adult Contemporary chart, rising 23-20.

6ix9ine, Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz's 'Fefe' Crowns On-Demand Streaming Songs Chart
News
By Kevin Rutherford | August 30, 2018 1:41 PM EDT
'Fefe' is the first No. 1 on the chart for 6ix9ine and Murda Beatz; it’s Minaj’s second.
“Fefe” already marked 6ix9ine’s first time in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, and now it’s his first No. 1 on Billboard’s On-Demand Streaming Songs chart.
The song, which features Nicki Minaj and Murda Beatz, rises 2-1 on the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart dated Sept. 1. It accrues 24.8 million on-demand audio streams to lead the tally, according to Nielsen Music. On-Demand Streaming songs ranks the tunes with the most on-demand audio streams in a week.
“Fefe” takes over at No. 1 from Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” which had ruled the chart for the previous two weeks. It falls to No. 2 with 24.6 million on-demand audio streams.
It’s 6ix9ine’s first No. 1 on the chart; before “Fefe,” the rapper had peaked at No. 16 with “Billy” (March 10). The song also marks Minaj’s first No. 1 on the tally since “Bang Bang,” with Jessie J and Ariana Grande, on the Sept. 13, 2014, list, and it’s her second chart-topper overall. “Fefe” becomes Murda Beatz’s first No. 1 on the ranking as a billed artist after having a hand in the production of previous No. 1s, including Drake’s “Nice for What.”
Concurrently, “Fefe” sits at No. 2 on the Streaming Songs chart, which takes into account all types of streams, including programmed streams and video views, earning 51.3 million streams total – up 10 percent. The chart’s leader, Drake’s “In My Feelings,” racks up 59.4 million.
The song holds at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, which blends streams, digital downloads and radio airplay, for a second straight week, down one spot from its No. 3 peak (Aug. 11).
“Fefe” has not yet been added to a 6ix9ine album or project of any kind; however, the track was added to the streaming edition of Minaj’s Queen album on Aug. 15.

Although not a natural dance/electronic song, the track samples Pete Rodriguez’s “I Like It Like That,” which was covered by The Blackout Allstars as “I Like It.” The latter song reached No. 19 on Dance Club Songs in December 1994 and No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 in February 1997.
The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on more than 80 top 40-formatted reporters.
Additionally on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, DJ Khaled climbs to his third top 10 with "No Brainer" (16-9), featuring Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper and Quavo. It’s also the 15th top 10 for Bieber, the second for Chance and the fourth for Quavo. Khaled also featured Bieber, Chance and Quavo on “I’m The One," also featuring Lil Wayne, reaching No. 4 on July 8, 2017.
Christina Aguilera crowns Dance Club Songs for the 10th time, driving 2-1 with “Accelerate.” The track features Ty Dolla $ign and 2 Chainz, each of whom earns their first leaders. “Accelerate” was remixed by Dicey & Faraoh Black, Pink Panda and Marc Stout, among others.
Aguilera’s first No. 1 came over 15 years ago, when remixes of ballad “Beautiful” bounced 3-1 on April 19, 2003. Beginning with “What A Girl Wants” (No. 18, March 2000), the singer has amassed 17 chart hits and 13 top 10s.
Marshmello and Bastille march in at No. 7 on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs with “Happier.” The fifth top 10 for the masked DJ and the first for U.K. band Bastille, “Happier” earned 6.2 million U.S. streams and sold 14,000 downloads in the week ending Aug. 23, according to Nielsen Music. (Hot Dance/Electronic Songs blends airplay, sales and streaming data to rank the most popular dance/electronic songs of the week.)
“Happier” also debuts at No. 1 on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, Marshmello’s third topper and Bastille’s first. Concurrently, the track begins at No. 8 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs, Marshmello’s fourth and Bastille’s first to reach the top 10 on that list.
Calvin Harris and Sam Smith also team up to pierce the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs' top 10 with “Promises” (No. 8). While it is Smith's third top 10, it's Harris' 16th — extending his record of the most top 10s on the five-year-old tally (the chart launched in January of 2013). The Chainsmokers have the second-most top 10s, with 12 top 10s.
Sporting sales of 13,000 downloads, “Promises” starts at No. 2 on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, giving Harris his 22nd top 10 there. Since the chart’s January 2010 start, only David Guetta has more top 10s (30). The track is also Smith’s third top 10.
Plus, “Promises” packs 6.5 million domestic streams, debuting at No. 5 on Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs. Harris hails his 13th top 10, the most of all acts dating to the chart’s April 2013 beginning (The Chainsmokers are next with 10 top 10s). For Smith, the track is his third top 10.

Rod Stewart Scores 23rd Top 10 Hit on Adult Contemporary Chart With 'Didn't I'
8/31/2018 by Kevin Rutherford
“Didn’t I” is Stewart’s first original, non-holiday song to reach the chart’s top 10 since 1999.
Rod Stewart is back in the top 10 of a Billboard airplay chart, as “Didn’t I” moves 11-10 on the Adult Contemporary chart dated Sept. 1.
“Didn’t I,” the first taste of Stewart’s upcoming studio album Blood Red Roses, becomes Stewart’s first top 10 on the chart since 2012, when he spent five weeks at No. 1 with his rendition of holiday standard “Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow.”
In fact, “Didn’t I” marks the first time Stewart’s reached the top 10 of Adult Contemporary with a non-holiday track since 2006. That’s when his cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” climbed to No. 6 (Dec. 2, 2006).
As for Stewart originals, such as “Didn’t I"? It’s Stewart’s first top 10 since “Faith of the Heart,” from the Patch Adams soundtrack, which reached No. 3 in March 1999.
In all, Stewart now has 23 top 10s on Adult Contemporary, dating back to “Love Touch” in 1986 (No. 5, Aug. 2, 1986). With his 23rd top 10, he ties Al Martino, Billy Joel, Carpenters, Lionel Richie and Phil Collins for the eighth-most No. 1s. Among all acts, Elton John leads with 39 top 10s.
Blood Red Roses, Stewart’s 30th studio album, is set for release Sept. 28 via Republic. Upon release, it’ll be his first full-length since 2015’s Another Country.
