Obviously, this has no correlation to actual sales since Phillip Phillips HOME is the best selling song of all time from American Idol - yet is only #22 on this chart.

^ The songs are ranked by weekly peak position, with the #1's at the top and going down from there, not necessarily by some other calculation of how big of a hit the songs were. But even so, it would be completely expected that the #1 seller wouldn't be at the top, as sales is only one of the metrics and they have overall increased and decreased dramatically from the start of the show in 2002 to the present. Home just happened to be released the year the digital sales market was at its highest in 2012. Heck in the early days, such as with A Moment Like This, This Is The Night, I Believe, etc., physical sales still contributed a significant component to those songs' points and digital sales didn't even count yet.

Don’t have time to look through all 300 but was curious. Do contestants that didn’t make the top 12 make this list? Examples would be pants on the ground, what are words, & Tori kelly songs

^ All those songs you mentioned are definitely included. Any contestant that was shown singing at any time during the competition for America to hear is fair game.
*Certain famous people, such as Hillary Scott, Bebe Rexha, etc. that didn't ever make it on tv are not included however.*
