Sorry I didn't make it in, but would love to be tagged in the reveals. I had about 15 songs that I didn't make it to. I think most of my top 10 would've been safe, but wish I would've submitted to help out Musical Youth, Shalamar, and Frida.

The third was somewhat lower.

#93
How Am I Supposed To Live Without You Laura Branigan
Total Points: 651
Billboard Hot 100: 12
Billboard Top 100 of 1983: 61
From: Branigan 2
This Adult Contemporary No. 1 was released as the second single from the late singers album Branigan 2.
It peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was covered by Michael Bolton in 1988 for his album Soul Provider.
r]
Her version was decent, but I much prefer Michael Bolton's version. I'm more familiar with his cover, and I think he sounded better vocally, imo.

No losses so far. With the onslaught of New Wave and Pop Rock, theses R&B ballads has too much force to overcome. #100. My Love - Lionel RichieSorry Lionel, but your ballads are a bit toooooo sappy. #99. Try Again - ChampaignThe combination of male and female vocals gives it a slight punch tap. #98. It Might Be You - Stephen BishopTruthfully, I didn't even recall this one. Up to this date I have not been compeled to view "Tootsie" #97. Tonight, I Celebrate My Love - Peabo Bryson & Roberta FlackNot much to celebrate for this duo. Man, R&B /Pop ballads are getting slaughtered. #96. You And I - Eddie Rabbitt & Crystal GayleI upgraded this one a bit for the Country vibe. #95. Truly . Lionel RichieThese simple piano ballads would probably fit better in today's pop charts? #94. Don't Let It End - StyxI was always surprised that Styx couldn't come up with a better power ballad than this. "Best Of Times" and "Babe" were epic. This one was just epic Sap. #93. How Am I Supposed To Live Without You - Laura BraniganI wonder how this one would fare against Michael Bolton's 1990 version? You know, Michael Bolton was Bon Jovi, hard rock in early 80's. He went Adult Contemporary when he lost his hair. #92. What About Me - Moving PicturesI don't know why this song lasted so much on the chart? I thought it sounded like Chicago "filler" material. I gave it one week peak of #39. #91. All This Love - DeBargeI also didn't recall this song. For me DeBarge emerged when "Rhythm of The Night" was released. As far as R&B family groups are concerned I preferred Jacksons or Jetts. My top 100 bottom 10 will already be considered strong songs by some of you, that's how jam packed of great music 1983 was. 100. Berlin - Sex (I'm A....)Berlin first hit the scene with this incredible dance oriented sexy New Wave hit. 99. Ultravox - Reap The Wild WindYou didn't have to live in Europe to get the best In British New Wave. All you had to do is flick the dial to MTV. 98. Prince - Let's Pretend We're MarriedHere is one you all gonna love. Gone was the trenchcoat and Speedos, but I love it that all of Prince;s MV's are up just in time for me to showcase. This is his best New Wave Funk song. I always thought Prince and Sparks had similar sounds in synths and Hairstyles. Can you believe this monster beat peaked at #52 on Billboard hot 100. Blasphemy. 97. Big Country - In A Big CountryMonster hit on almost all rock radio format stations. U.S. Hot 100, Uk Charts and I peaked this one at #17, but it still made my top 100. What was their excuse? 96. Tony Carey - I Won't Be Home Tonight Tony was an ex keyboardist for the hard Rock band Rainbow. He also released another project called Project P. A band you will also run into ,in my top 100. HQ sound.www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm4M6XVOBJ095. ? 94. Sparks & Jane Wiedlin - Cool PlacesGoGo's guitars Jane Wiedlin reamed up with Sparks for this uptempo synthpop song. The MV has horrible quality but this live version sounds pretty tasty. Billboard thought #46 was a fair peak for this bouncer. I thought #12 was much more suitable. 93. New Edition - Candy GirlSo at six years old, I was into a lot of happy, bouncy music. "Candy Girl" was no exception. New Edition was a Maurice Starr and Michael Jonzun of "Space Cowboy" fame, production. The band was comprised of Bobby Brown ,Ralph Tresant. and Bill Biv DeVoeo. 92. Loverboy - Queen Of The Broken HeartsMy dad was a fierce rocker back in the day. I would listen to all his Lp's. Queen, Kiss, Loverboy. Loverboy were one of my favorite hard rock bands of the 80's. The girls in the music video were also the ones for Kiss's "Lick It Up". "Queen of The Broken Hearts" peaked at #34 on Hot 100. 91. Icicle Works - Birds Fly (Whisper To A Scream)Icicle Works were a British ,one hit wonder in the U.S. , but very popular on the Alternative rock stations. Originally released in 1983, it did not peak on Hot 100 until 1984.

When your highest casualty is at #65, you're off to a good start edition:
100. My Love---I thought Lionel had one decent, one OK and one weak tune this round. This was the one I thought was alright.
99. Try Again---Thanks, but I preferred Aaliyah's version. :kii: Eh, this didn't do much for me on first listen.
98. It Might Be You---This Stephen Bishop song for Tootsie might be the weak part of the film, outside of the scene where Commandant Lassard tries to have his way with Tootsie. :o Film itself wasn't half bad with some funny and dramatic parts working, but some elements didn't date very well.
97. Tonight, I Celebrate My Love---Honestly, I didn't think R&B wasn't that bad this year. But at the same time, it's kind of a deep year (62 songs were above average) so yeah.
96. You and I---Thanks, but I preferred Lady Gaga's version. :kii: My second bottom 10 deservedly drops here as this wasn't a pleasant listen.
95. Truly---And the kind of weak Lionel Richie song goes down leaving the strongest song to hopefully do a lot better. But we'll see!
94. Don't Let It End---Eh, when it comes to sappy ballads from Styx, give me Show Me the Way instead. Meh.
93. How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?---Count me among those that preferred Michael Bolton's take on the song. As far as Branigan goes, give me Self-Control or Gloria or nothing.
92. What About Me---A first listen that didn't do much for me, to be honest.
91. All This Love---I'm just not feeling Debarge without Rhythm of the Night, to be honest. That one I did in elementary school choir.
I suspect my number 100 will get me some heat (perhaps nuclear), but I think my story might explain it. Hopefully some of my bottom 10 shows up next round. And I didn't know some of you were fans of classic musicals?

Eh, didn't lose anything of real significance with this first set. The biggest losses were a couple of songs that I kind of liked, but didn't REALLY care for. On a related note, we got rid of my #99 and not my #100? That's odd.
