Good bottom 10 overall 100. My Love (91): Too sappy and monotonous for me. 99. Try Again (100): I hadn't heard this song before. No need to hear it again 98. It Might Be You (96): I did remember this one from Tootsie. Not bad but just mediocre... 97. Tonight, I Celebrate My Love (92): Memory misled me. I thought it was better. Chorus is good enough, but that's all it has for it 96. You and I (97): Another meh song for me. 95. Truly (70): This was popular back home, and I did like it. There are just far too many stronger songs in this RD. 94. Don't Let It End (82): The chorus is ok, but the verses are underwhelming. They have much better ballads. 93. How Am I Supposed to Live Without You? (81): Yes, the worst song by Laura in this RD left first :) I like Michael's version much more. I just think her voice is not that well suited for this type of ballads (her version of The Power of Love is awful). 92. What About Me (88): Melodic pop-rock downtempo that had potential but wasn't fully realized IMO. 91. All This Love (99): Not a big fan of their music before ROTN.

Anything with the name Air Supply automatically gets a bottom 5 for me. And btw, bottom 10 is cleared! Quickest ive ever cleared by bottom 10.

Totally missed this cutoff, but I’d still love to be tagged in reveals! :)
On another note, “Pass The Dutchie” is far too low. Not too upset about any of the others being gone so far.

Heading in the Right Direction or "It's (Not) a Mistake Edition":
80. Hot Girls in Love---The song was alright. It's no Workin' for the Weekend, but it's decent enough.
79. Making Love Out of Nothing at All---We had a choice in elementary school between singing/dancing to this or Beat It. I don't regret doing the moonwalk back in the day. And this song is nothing but a dull, sappy mess. And my fourth bottom 10 leaves!
78. I Won't Hold You Back---It appears that a lot of artists with multiple songs had at least one clunker along with one fairly good song. No exception for Toto which had a weak ballad here. And my fifth bottom 10 says farewell!
77. Lawyers in Love---How did this escape the bottom 10 is my question? It reminded me of the Stephen Bishop song we sank earlier. As my sixth bottom 10 song gets held in contempt of court, objection sustained!
76. Straight from the Heart---Bryan Adam's track record was usually better with uptempo numbers than with ballads. It was OK, but I've heard way better from him.
75. Dead Giveaway (58)---This was actually a decent tune that probably deserved somewhat better. I felt like the R&B was better than previous years we done, but that's just my two cents.
74. Far From Over (53)---Alright, I had forgotten that synchronized swimming sketch on SNL that they show during mini-marathons sometimes. Tune was decent and supposedly better than the crappy sequel to Saturday Night Fever.
Alright, now you know that I Know There's Something Going On did better than 53. In fact, I'll spoil that it made my top half.
73. Shame on the Moon---Decent rocker from Bob Seger, but I've heard better.
72. Don't Cry---I guess I was never into bands named after continents. I don't think I liked anything from Asia and I liked one song from both Africa and Europe. I guess if I had a rock band, I might name it after Antarctica?
71. Back Where We Belong---It was OK, but I hope some of the Dirty Dancing songs fare better in 1988. Too bad Overload didn't make that list though, I'd have rated it better than Hungry Eyes.

This might be the most 80's thing I've ever seen. Air Supply are an immediate turnoff for me, no matter the song. This is, honestly, one of their "better" songs, and it was still my #100. Meanwhile, another top 40 bites the dust, but I was more upset about Joe, to be honest.

#80. Hot Girls In Love - LoverboyThe fact that I gave it the highest rank tells you all you need to know about this song. You either love it because it's Loverboy rock, or hate it for its title alone. I thought about upgrading it into my top 20, but then thought ...PULSE, so I just concentrated more on the songs I really take a bullet for. #79. Making Love Out Of Nothing At All - Air SupplyI remember digging this one a lot more when I was younger. Now it just sounded like "Making Sap Out Of Nothing At All". At least Disney World was open for business. #78. I Won't Hold You Back - TotoDecent Pop Ballad for Toto. I charted this one too. #77. Lawyers In Love - Jackson BrowneI charted two songs from 'Lawyers In Love" in 1983. None of his songs sounded quite as sunny as "somebody's Baby" but they were still enjoyable. #76. Straight From The Heart - Bryan AdamsJeez what is it with PULSE and Canadian Rockers? Did 2000s Cockrock really f u c k it up for you all? [img src="http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif" class="smile" alt=" " src="http://images.proboards.com/tongue.gif"] Anyway this particular song wasn't all that, but the album had a string of huge hits on the rack charts. Including the two I charted. #75. Dead Giveaway - Shalamar This is an awesome R&B dance track. So full of NRG. Should have been a lot higher on this list of songs #74. Far From Over - Frank StalloneThis song sounded so Broadway. Not a fan. #73. Shame On The Moon - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet BandShame this is one of the most boring songs I've ever heard from Bob and Company. #72. Don't Cry- AsiaIf you guys tank "Heat Of The Moment" or "Only Time Will Tell" in 1982, there will be hell to pay. #71. Up Where We Belong - Joe Cocker & Jennifer WarnesJoe Cocker is a vocal abomination to me ears. Always sounded drunk. John Belushi did a better version of Joe Cocker than Joe did of himself. Plus this song sucks. First a few reveals from my own top 100. My biggest loss tonight was "Hot Girls In Love" which I ranked about the same slot on my own personal list. 215. Air Supply - Making Love Out Of Nothing At All 212. Bryan Adams - Straight From The Heart 197. Toto - I Won't Hold You Back 156. Jackson Browne - Lawyers In Love 88. Asia - Don't Cry87. Shalamar - Dead Giveaway25. Loverboy - Hot Girls In Lovehere are #'s 80-71. A few of these charted in the top 40, None of them made Billboards'd top 100 of 1983. 80. ? 79. Wham! - Young Guns (Go For It)
Another big club hit from Wham's first album. Ever wonder what kind of rap I can get into? Just check out George Michael melodic style. That's Rapping. 78. Mötley Crüe - Take Me To The Top
The band's first "Sleaze Rock" banger spawned a few radio hits that KLOS and KMET gave airplay too. This is the song that introduced me to the band. Vince Neil was a vocal demon from the start. This promo MV is so rare it looks like home movie. 77. Planet P - Why Me?
We already ran into "I Won't Be Home Tonight". This is his 1983 project band called Planet P. If you dig on Pink Floyed? Check this song out. MTV introduced me to this song. 76. Sheena Easton - Telefone(Long Distance Love Affair)
As I've mentioned before, I love me some Sheena Easton. This one hit #9 on Hot 100, but missed the Billboard top 100. If your are a Music video freak like me, then you could consider this part two to Eddie Money's "Think I'm In Love" Also vampire themed. 75. Cheap Trick - If You Want My Love
Two songs off "One On One" made my 1983 charts. This one and "She's Tight". Both stalled outside of the Billboard Hot 100 top 40. Don't worry, Cheap trick came back and set the 1988 charts on fire with "The Flame" 74. Michael Bolton - Fool's Game
Before doing 1970 covers, Michael Bolton knew how to Rock. His vocals have a sort of Paul Stanley power and the music had that Bon Jovi magic. I love the way the song just kept on rocking. I also have this album in my LP collection. Needless to say, I never charted Michael Bolton again after this first album. 73. ? 72. Scandal - - Goodbye To You
The music of the 80's was best ever and you couldn't get more 80's than Scandal's brand of New wave rock. 71. Night Ranger - Sing Me AwayAnother band that had to wait until 1984 to become huge on the Hot 100 was Nigh Ranger. "Don't Tell You Love Me" was huge on Rock radio formats, and this was the second release off "Dawn Patrol". Kelly Keagy did most of the vocals on the Power ballads. I hope someday someone uploads all these original MVs in HD quality.

90. The Girl Is Mine (87): It was a cute song back in the day, although the last minute or so never gelled well with me. By the ate 1980s it started to get in my nerves Say, Say, Say is MILES better. 89. We Got Tonight (16): WHAT!!!! :'( >:( This is a BIG surprise. I was a big Sheena Easton fan in my childhood. And my parents liked Kenny quite a lot. I loved this duet since I first heard it. Vocals, harmonies, and emotions are A+. Melody and production re pretty good, too. A classic duet that deserved MUCH better in this RD. Like even if it may be saccharine for some, this is just a GOOD song. Geez! 88. Never Gonna Let You Go (46): Nice melody and vocals, PLUS one of the biggest Latin artists of the 1980s. This was a big hit back home, with good recurrence. Good AC ballad. 87. Heart To Heart (78): I remember that video being in high rotation, and the song being popular in the radio as well. It hasn't aged very well, though. 86. Pass The Dutch (71): Pretty fun song full of good 1980s memories. 85. All Right (69): Another song with good 1980s memories with a smooth, sunset soundtrack type of vibe. I really liked this type of sound. 84. The Other Guy (90): I think this was a first-listen to me. It was just ok to me. 83. I've Got A Rock 'N' Roll Heart (93): Idem. Too bland for Eric... 82. Sexy + 17 (72): Surprised that this one left before the Strut. This is a much more fun song. 81. Breaking Us In Two (85): It starts with a good melody and instrumentation, but it kinda doesn't go anywhere. Not a bottom 10 for me, but not as good as his other singles popular back home: Happy Ending, You Can't Get What You Want (personal top 15s), and of course Steppin' Out.

80. Hot Girls In Love (83): I had forgotten about this song. Sounds ok and like typical type of rock song that I wasn't a big fan of.
79. Making Love Out Of Nothing At All (8): Second WTF!!!! One of the most epic 1980s ballads to me. Great melody, excellent vocals and bombastic production. Not much more to ask for :) This was a hit back home and amongst the biggest hits in decade-end lists, including my personal 1980s ranking. I guess we are much more into this type of AC ballads...
78. I Won't Hold You Back (64): This was a decent ballad with good vocals, but just not as strong as other Toto songs.
77. Lawyers In Love (51): I had forgotten about this song. I really like the production. And that final part of the song, starting with the falsetto, made me rank it even higher.
76. Straight From The Heart (47): Too low for this good ballad from Bryan. Great melody, strong vocals, nice production.
75. Dead Giveaway (98): This was a first-listen to me, and it didn't grab me at all.
74. Far From Over (48): I really liked this type of epic pop-rock songs. It was a personal favorite at that time, and I still like it. This actually made the yearend top 10 of our #1 radio station back home.
73. Shame On The Moon (79): I heard it back in the day but didn't care for it. It's quite surprising to know that this kinda boring song was such a big hit for Bob.
72. Don't Cry (89): This wasn't a hit back home, and I didn't find it very appealing. Only Time Will Tell and Heat of the Moment were BIG hits, though, and my favorites from Asia.
71. Up Where We Belong (35): A big hit back home. I like the chorus and Jeniffer's vocals a lot. The verses are melodically strong, but Joe's vocals are its main weakness. It's still a song with good 1980s memories, but of course not surprised that it didn't escape bottom 30.

I love the pace and energy of the song. It's perfect for a road trip. On a related note, BITCHES need to stop murdering my list RIGHT NOW! >:(

I charted 223 amazing songs on my little top 40 chart back in 1983. Song's chart run ranges from 1 week to 20+. My chart was very British oriented consisting of Pop, Rock, and New Wave songs. Songs that are missing are songs we are ranking. I'll reveal them in time. I'll add a couple of rare Top of The Pop MVs too. Always good to see your retro posts! I was listening to songs and radio charts in 1983, but I hadn't started to make my personal chart yet. Some songs you've included were hits back home and/or songs I liked. 219. ELO - Rock N' Roll Is Kingwww.youtube.com/watch?v=21VeAmPOBzIPopular song back home this year. I liked it, but not as much as most other ELO singles. 201. Saga - On The Loosewww.youtube.com/watch?v=gx7XbV82JfQThis was a yearend top 40 back home, although not a personal favorite. 192. J. Geils Band - I Dowww.youtube.com/watch?v=EgciaGGR4UIThe live version of this song was a big hit back home, and a personal favorite this year. 189. ZZ Top - Gimme All Your Lovin'www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k1VSeudgxAThis was popular, but not as much as other ZZ Top songs. 186. Talking Heads - Burning Down The Housewww.youtube.com/watch?v=bgJ-hyzl6jgIt wasn't that big of a song back then back home. However, with time it has become much more popular --and I've grown to like it as well. 167. Tears For Fears - Pale Shelter www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMh8ZtWHiAII've LOVED this song since then--the production, melody, vocals. Among my favorite T4F songs. 165. ZZ Top - Sharp Dressed Manwww.youtube.com/watch?v=lyIPvm4JukQMy second favorite ZZ Top song, after Legs. Quite popular back home, including because of the very 1980s video. 162. Modern English - I Melt With Youwww.youtube.com/watch?v=bepuzUc044QI heard this song for the first time in the early 2000s only--and I've LOVED it since then.

#'s 150-101 of my huge 1983 countdown. A big source of music for me was MTV. 150. Men At Work - Dr. Heckyll & Mr. JiveA minor hit back home. I thought it was just ok... just like those songs from Huey Lewis that I wasn't a big fan of. The video was cool, though. 147. Michael Jackson - P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)A minor hit back home as well. I also thought it was just ok, and I cared even less than The Girl Is Mine. 138. Rod Stewart - Baby JaneThis was a BIG HIT back home --in the yearend top 40. And it was another song I really liked from Rod Stewart --I retroactively considered it a personal chart-topper. I loved the melody, and the pop-rock sound was great as well. One of my top 5 Rod songs. 131. The Police - Wrapped Around Your FingerA minor hit back home, with a video that was also quite popular. I liked this quite a bit, especially the verses and the overall music / instrumentation, and it would've been a personal top 5. 125. Kim Carnes - Invisible Hands (NEW) This song wasn't really popular in radio stations, but the video got high rotation a couple years later in the first music TV channel back home, along with a couple other KC videos. I did like the song (especially the chorus and the whole new wave vibe) and I briefly ranked it in 1984. 122. Scandal - Love's Got A Line On MeLove's Got A Line On You was a minor hit back home, but it would've been a personal top 3 if not a chart-topper. I was all into these Scandal, Quarterflash, Pretenders songs back at that time. The video also got a good rotation. It's also worth noting that Jon Bon Jovi appeared as guitar player in the music video used for the demo version of this song (!): 118. Yaz - Only You I don't remember the original getting rotation back home, but a cover of this song by Enrique Iglesias in 2002 became a BIG HIT. Actually that's when I learned about the original song. I liked the cover quite a lot. I liked the music/production more than that of the original (except for the vocals), but with time I've grown to like the original more.
114. Cure - Let's Go To Bed I don't think this was played in 1983, but it had some rotation in a few radio stations in 1987 after Close To Me. It's a good song, but not in my top 5 Cure songs.
110. Men At Work - Be Good Johnny This was just a minor hit back home, maybe more popular in our local music TV station. I liked this more than Dr. Heckyll, but not as much as It's A Mistake, Overkill or Down Under. Look at the 1980s fashion

That Enrique Iglesias was the very first song I heard from him. It was quite good, and it was a hit when I was living over here. Years later did I realize that Enrique also appeared with Antonio Banderas in that Desperado franchise.
