Oh please, that's plain sexist on your part if you really think that. lol It’s sad a talented, beautiful, rich woman chose to be vile to other women, but that’s on her. Seriously, can you think of one male contestant she was as hateful to as Haley or Hollie Cavanaugh or Jessica Meuse? Even Pia she nitpicked every week until, shocker, she got the boot early. But, back to the real point, blaming Lauren for things the judges decided to do on a show she was on close to 10 years ago now makes no sense at all. Hateful? Lol that's ridiculous. She didn't "nitpick" Pia, she along with every other judge told her to work on her movement once or twice and added that she was spectacular. Pia even said they were trying to help her. Scotty probably got more criticism than Pia did. You should go back and re-watch the season.
And again, she was easy on Hollie compared to Randy and Steven. Why not pick on those two? Because they aren't females so they aren't "jealous?" Same with Jessica Meuse, all three judges criticized her, not just JLo, and Harry was by far the most harsh, not JLo. Are you one of those Slezak followers? It almost sounds identical to his ridiculous claims.
Yes, I agree that people shouldn't blame Lauren for anything. It reminded me when people would hate on other contestants when their favorite was eliminated. Its not like the contestants choose to send each other home like Survivor or Big Brother.
Seeing Lauren have success makes the haters words more useless.

None of this is about “Ladies in the ‘90s”. If you want to fight about American Idol, do so in DMs.

Westwood one coming on board and WNSH New York joining with KKBQ coming back a little and KKGO LA growing things are looking up as she gets back out there touring. Sales are strong and streaming is decent, she needs to get on the Hot Country playlist so it will take off.

This song is a jam and radio should jump on board.

This song is a jam and radio should jump on board. Same way radio decides which songs take off :| I will always find it strange most people are just happy with what they get played, radio or spotify instead of looking for music they like and deciding from themselves. Most of my friends that are women in their early to late 20's have this unavoidable opinion that country music is just old white misogynist dudes, but when I actually show them songs like Ladies in the 90's, they love them. Same thing with pop really, there are some great artists out there that don't have top 40s but whose songs I love. I always feel like the "discovery" algorithms at spotify are geared towards pushing their own agenda than actually finding new songs I might like - ie despite several playlists full of unsigned-independent female artists I get FGL and other generic white dude crap all the time, and surprise! it doesn't appeal to me.
Regardless, this song is a gem and I really hope it gets at least top 15. I really don't think Lauren will get to release an album unless she gets a hit and I loved her last one, so I want to hear more stuff as good as Ladies in the 90's.

Not as sad as your random and unwarranted accusations. But anyway, “Ladies in the 90s” is the second-best thing Lauren has ever done and if it flops I’ll be more upset than I was with any of her previous flops. What do you think is the best thing Lauren has ever done, song wise?

I’m a sucker for heavily-produced uptempos so easily “Road Less Traveled.” But I’ve always loved her output dating all the way back to “Like My Mother Does.” Her resurgence the past couple years has been such a treat to watch. And Scotty’s, for that matter. They both deserved it.

Ugh, I am not optimistic at all about this songs future whatsoever on the airplay chart. "Ladies In The 90s" fell back 5 spots on Billboard this week to #52 and Lauren Alaina is on Week 14 and has the biggest audience loss besides Toby Keith in the bottom 30. Taking almost 4 months to solidify your spot in the Top 50 is never a good sign for a song.
I am starting to feel like this songs best case scenario is pulling a very lengthy chart run like "Doin Fine" and maybe it can do as well as that song did. I don't think the label is gonna pull it anytime soon as Lauren Alaina did get 3 more adds.
But man, this song is getting buried in the charts already, and with Q1 probably getting a lot more crowded real soon with CRS just around the corner, the future isn't very bright for "Ladies In The 90s" being successful.
Maybe I'm too pessimistic, but this was just an awful week for this song.

I love this song, but it’s not a song I’d want to hear on radio. It’s a fun song to sing. I love the lyrics, just not on radio.

Most people want to hear fun, catchy songs that they can sing along to on the radio, so I'm not sure why these factors would lead you to the opposite conclusion.

It was only a matter of time before KKBQ pulled the plug, my guess they were trying to fill the gap before it would start shedding spins. As far as losing all those spots on Billboard they were all bunched up from 46 to 52. But overall it has been a choppy start to say the least. I really do not get her label sometimes it seems like they let it sit for 1 good month without much action in the add category. Its selling better then anything she has put out with that chart position so you think they would jump on it. On the positive front she seems to be a very hot item for tours and festivals. As always time will tell.

There are a million reasons why this song is getting left on the chart, but I wonder how much the presence of "90s Country" and more notably "Raised on Country" is hurting this song's chances.

I doubt "90s Country" has any affect since it has done worse than Lauren Alaina. I think the main reason is the competition, and the amount of big releases. I mean this week was particularly rough where George Strait, Dan + Shay, Tim McGraw, Jimmie Allen, and Kacey Musgraves were eating up so many spins which leaves songs like Lauren Alaina completely in the dust. Like I said in my weekly predictions, things are looking bad as I think this song will probably fall back out of the Top 50 this week and may have already peaked. Even if the label does intend to stand by this I don't feel great about this song, and I have heavy reservations this will get an album out.

Radio is really giving this one the "Next Boyfriend" treatment which is just frustrating. But, this song is coming up on 3million Spotify streams, which is great for no airplay and not being apart of any major playlist.

Ugh, this is infuriating how badly this is struggling... Radio seemed to be so excited to support Lauren after "Road Less Traveled" but then has failed miserably at the follow up support to that. She's way too talented and this song is too fun to not be much bigger

Lauren Alaina does set a new Mediabase peak this week at #43 gaining around 90 spins for "Ladies In The 90s".
I think radio wants to support Lauren Alaina, the problem is right now the charts are so freaking crowded with so many artists releasing new singles, and no one wants to give up as they don't want to start some of the artists back to the beginning of the chart (probably why we see the songs from Tyler Rich, Rodney Atkins stay on long). As such it causes the songs in the 30s and 40s to really get sidelined and rack up the weeks on radio.
At best these songs can hope for a crack to sneak by and subtly move through the chart (kind of what we are seeing with Runaway June, Carly Pearce, and Brantley Gilbert/Lindsay Ell).
Radio wants to support Lauren Alaina, but there are over 50 to 60 other artists also promoting songs that radio also likes and supports

I'm the only one who probably thinks this. For me at least there is always more to a song struggling or underperforming beyond just "She's a female and country radio is sexist". It's never so simple and black and white.

I disagree with this assessment this song is going nowhere, because it’s not the best song released. Like this song, but I don’t think that this song should b a big hit. Yes she’s honoring past female singers, but the lyrics are weak and a little bit too repetitive. “90’s Country” By Walker hayes is also not getting played, and the last time I new he was male.

I think you miss the point about not playing females. The chart is full of mediocre to awful songs by hardly known male artist. This song is catchy well sung And is selling, she is one of a handful of up and coming female artist, it shouldn’t have to be Girl Going No Where, oh wait that is doing worse, to get played it is still better then half the crap on the radio. I imagine there are plenty of male song you consider mediocre moving just fine.

The charts are very packed right now. I do think a factor is that she's a female artist. I wonder if a factor could be that radio PD's see this as a single criticizing radio for its treatment of female acts on radio & that's some of the problem.

Sometimes it is that simple. But you can't just point at every female song that has flopped or underperformed and have the sole reason be for why it flopped be "Because it's a female song". I really do think there is more to the story with a majority. I think Lauren Alaina being female plays a role in this song struggling, but I also think the crowded chart with hardly any room on the charts to manuever plays a role, Lauren Alaina's lack of radio momentum overall (yes "Road Less Traveled" hit #1 but it was one of the softest #1s I have ever seen, and "Doin Fine" took forever to peak). Probably not changing any minds here (in fact I'm sure I'm pissing people off the more I post about it), I get where you're coming from I just don't agree with it at all. Sorry.

Not every song, no, but a good song that spotlights the fact that the dearth of female voices on country radio is a relatively new thing that's happened the past decade and a half? Yes, I definitely believe its poor performance has to do with misogyny at country radio. "Sexism" seems like an incredibly inadequate description of what's happening in the genre these days.

I don't get why you fight so hard to defend the idea that country radio isn't just blatantly sexist. Like I'm sure there are other "reasons" why female songs struggle, but the majority of them can be directly or indirectly tied to that problem. For instance, when people say x, y, or z song by a female artist performed poorly at radio because of mediocre callout... which is because country radio has conditioned the current audience to not be used to hearing female voices because they're played less and thus they test far more poorly 9/10 times. Whether it's the one and only reason that this is struggling doesn't matter, because it's still a huge issue and the biggest thing we can point to as to why this isn't moving up the charts quicker. I don't understand why it bothers you so much when people bring up radio being sexist, because at this point it's indisputable that this is true, point-blank. Trying to find other excuses why country radio isn't playing "Ladies in the 90s"... sounds like something country radio would do, ironically. Like when they chose not to play Kacey Musgraves despite all her critical acclaim and strong consumer interest, just because she didn't continue to kiss the feet of radio PDs after her first couple hits. If "Ladies in the 90s" fails to become a big hit, I put the vast majority of the blame purely on country radio being sexist because the song sounds like a hit, it's selling decently for its lack of airplay thus far, it pulled in a strong number of adds out of the gate, Lauren continues to get praise/buzz in the music industry, and she's continued to bust her ass touring. Nothing about this release suggests it should be struggling like it has imo.

That’s just my opinion. 1) It doesn't *have* to be the best thing she's ever released to be a hit, anymore than all these male artist keep cranking out subpar party tunes and taking them up the charts. Songs becoming hits on radio are not dependent upon quality. 2) Saying it sounds better when listening to it on an iPod or Spotify instead of radio makes no sense to me at all, especially when the song in question is something like "Ladies in the 90s." I could see that argument if it was some painfully slow ballad that just didn't fit for radio but it was still a beautiful song you'd wanna listen to on your own accord, but what part of listening to it on purpose on Spotify makes it different than hearing it by chance on radio? I'd bet large sums of money that it is because she's female and not that peculiar reason that you personally have for disliking it.
