The US version of "If U Seek Amy" turning into "If U See Amy" was silly and sounded ridicious, but also kind of made sense.
One of the BBC stations took editing into their own hands, and this, one of the worst edits I've ever heard, was the result:
There was also a really bad edit of S&M played on the BBC (and they referred to the song as "Come On"):

The best part is the DJ saying "New entry, it's Come On, Rihanna. ...Ugh." That little joke is dirtier than anything in the song that got so severely censored.

Radio Disney edit of This Is How U Feel by Loote:
"And if the cops pull me over, I'm ready to lie" ---> "And I can pick you up, we can go for a ride"
Radio Disney edit of Down by Fifth Harmony: "FBI interrogation/I would get up there and lie for you" has "FBI interrogation" muted.
In conclusion, there will be no lying to the police on Radio Disney.

"Savage" by Megan Thee Stallion just doesn't hit the same with "I'm that --- been that ---- still that --- will forever be that ---".

"I Love It" by Lil Pump & Kanye West has the clean version go "You're such a freaking girl, I love it", making the clean version somehow WORSE than the original.

"I Love It" by Lil Pump & Kanye West has the clean version go "You're such a freaking girl, I love it", making the clean version somehow WORSE than the original. There's two clean edits on Spotify: the "freaky girl" edit, and this one, which manages to miss two "fuck"s and and reverses the offending lyrics in the chorus, which make it sound like "You're such a filthy whore, I love it." Obviously radio didn't want to play the latter, but I question why this much effort was put into cleaning up this obvious gag song that premiered at the Pornhub Awards in the first place.

Blackbear - Hot Girl Bummer (unpopular opinion: the song itself is actually really good)
The “fuck you” which is repeated 3 times in the chorus is kind of a big part to the song and it’s meaning. Hearing him say “forget you” instead sounds awful, and just taking out the word entirely makes the song feel incomplete.

The weirdest censored song I've heard is Death Bed (Coffee for your head) played on BBC Radio 1...There is no actual swear words, but all words referring to dying was changed. "Gonna pass away" and "I wont make it out this bed" is changed, etc. www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5Pi0XcYeFo

DaBaby and Roddy Ricch's "Rockstar," at least on my station, is played with all references to weapons removed, including the word "kill" being censored. I guess I could understand why they censor "glock" maybe, but censoring "pistol" and "kill" seems like overkill (or should I say overk*ll).

Words/phrases BBC Radio is censoring in WAP ( in addition to the words already changed in the radio edit): bucket (?!?!) Beat it up large hard cookie nose Hop on top The first four lines of Megan's first verse (It literally goes "Gob-talk your-") came kiss (the version I linked doesn't censor this, but the one I heard on BBC Radio 1 did? 1Xtra got permission to say 'kiss'? How generous) wet it The last four lines of Cardi's second verse beating Big D bust it (in "If it don't hang") bang When I ride the (yuh) Hear it for yourself at 7:15.Even the announcers are snarking about how censored it is; the one I linked said "That was the very very very very very very very family-friendly version of WAP" after it played, while another simply said "Look, I don't edit the words, it's not my job. I don't know why 'throat' is out. Or 'bucket'. I just play the tracks."

I agree the original is better, but I understand the f**ks had to be edited somehow for radio, and this isn't the first time they've been replaced by "forget" (remember the Cee-Lo Green song, for which they had to change the title?) Some of the other changes in the song don't really make sense. In the line "And the vodka came diluted", the name of the drink is often fudged over, but "They can't fit me in a Trojan" is OK?

My station censors "bucket" out of DaBaby and Roddy Ricch's "Rockstar" too, for some reason ("Dropped enough tears to fill up a - "). I thought it was maybe just because it was preceded by an f-bomb, but now honestly I don't know.

I kinda assume they changed the first one to forget because it might be a turnoff to some listeners to have the first word they hear be censored?

I wonder how many different stations have different edits for Rockstar. The one I just heard on a town about a couple hours away's Top 40 station censored "glock" and "kill", but not "pistol", "chopper", etc. They also blanked the entirety of "And I'll kill another ***** too...'fore I let another ***** do somethin' to you", leaving this awkward hole in the song.

I dunno since I don't listen to censored versions. I guess Stan because they cut out so many unnecessary things in it. They should have made a version of the song with the expletives replaced by other words (i.e. "Anyway, f--- it" could be "forget it", "some b---- who didn't want him" could be changed to another word meaning a disagreeable woman (like tramp or witch), and many instances of the word "s---" could be changed to stuff.)

In DaBaby's "Rockstar," why is "Glocky" censored out of the beginning of Roddy's verse (in all clean versions I've heard) but DaBaby saying "Glock" in the chorus isn't censored? Isn't it the same thing? lol

I heard a "clean" version of Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper's "Holy" (not even really need for one) this morning which censored out the word "pimp" from "the pimps and the players" lyric, and replaced it with extra bass that wasn't originally in the song. I can imagine some old guy being like "well, we have to censor pimp, but we'll add some extra bass in there so it's still cool for the kids!" *facepalm*

I can imagine some old guy being like "well, we have to censor pimp, but we'll add some extra bass in there so it's still cool for the kids!" *facepalm* For a "clean" song, it's got nearly as many different edits as ROCKSTAR. The Radio Disney version edits "the pimps" out of "the pimps and the players" as well (but simply replaces it with the instrumental instead of extra bass), and completely cuts the opening line. "I hear a lot about sinners"...pretty harmless, but Radio Disney has a 100% "no references to sin" policy for reasons I will never understand (maybe not to offend the religious, but "oh my god" and "swear to God" are allowed on Radio Disney, which tend to be bigger hangups for religious people then simple references to sin). iHeart's kid edit is the rather repetitive "the players and the players". And of course, I'm sure there are some stations in more conservative markets just censoring the word "weed" (haven't heard it censored on general radio yet even though it's still illegal here).

Heard a clean version of "Be Like That" on my drive home yesterday which spliced in "phone" for "ass" so it just goes "I wish I'd never met your phone," thus making no sense lol. A bit ironic/hypocritical given I'd heard a version in the morning on that same station that didn't censor out "ass" at all.
This version also censored out "sleep with you," leaving an awkward hole in the song during the line "It gets crazy in the nights I cannot ---". Get your minds out of the gutters, people...it didn't have to mean something sexual, and even then...why? Lol

iHeart's "kid" edit of Zara Larsson's "WOW" is atrocious. The first verse is made into a copy-and-pasted, repetitive mess ("And I feel this way, yeah that says it all/In my system, babe, yeah that says it all"), and every instance of "god" is poorly edited with "drop" from somewhere else from the song. Not once is it done smoothly. (And completely unnecessary, since they literally played Oh My God by Alec Benjamin with no censorship when it was charting.)
I'll take Radio Disney's "PJs on the couch" edit over that any day.

Heard "Lemonade" by Internet Money on the radio the other day and it sounded awful. The distortion of "xanny bars" at the beginning of the chorus is really awkward, and Nav's verse is basically just him saying random non-explicit words every few seconds. There's also like an awkward 20 seconds where it's just instrumental because they completely removed a couple of full lines.
