I heard the clean version of Metro Boomin's "Calling" today on the radio and was amused by how they censored his tagline ("If young Metro don't trust you, imma shoot ya"). They censored "shoot" (I guess it was too violent?) and spliced "trust" from the beginning of the tagline in its place, so it is now changed to "If young Metro don't trust you, imma trust ya" which is just contradictory and silly lmao. They clearly didn't think this one through too well lol.

I was in Walmart and they were playing Baby Don't Hurt Me, but the censorship was so distracting I almost dropped a 58-inch TV. These whole lines were replaced with the instrumental: "When you bite my tongue and make me scream"
"On my body, he givin' me kisses I'm wеt when I'm with him, I pop it like Adderall Baby, dive in my beach and go swimmin' Let's go deep 'cause you know there's no limits Nothin' stronger than you when I'm sippin' I'm still gonna finish, I'm drunk, I ain't had enough"
As well as "killing" in "killing me slowly"...like why? Just play Haddaway's version!

Recently I had to carpool in somebody else's car to go to a work conference. They had on an AC station, and omg, the station's censorship of Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" was so over-the-top and gave me secondhand embarrassment just listening to it. The station not only censored "sexy," "work that jelly," and "thighs," but they also literally muted "booty" out of the title so it was just "licious." They even censored the title in their playlist lol. Why even bother playing the song if they are that offended by the word "booty"? lmao

I think the censorship in “Bootylicious” is awful. lol. The AC station could’ve kept it as is. Besides the current AC audience were of age when that song was hot.

Completely agreed with the first part lol. They also censored "damn" out of "About Damn Time" and "have you naked" out of Justin Timberlake's "Rock Your Body" so I don't think it had anything to do with the age of the song, I think the station was just trying to be kid-friendly but went way overboard lmao.

I heard a weird edit of Post Malone's "Rockstar" when driving home today, which was odd because I've heard it dozens of times before on that station and they've always just used the regular radio edit in the past. I am unsure if they accidentally got the kids edit, but "get in" (from "she just tryna get in") and "whole snack" were both censored. The latter was particularly amusing, as the way the phrase was distorted left it as "yo wifey say I'm lookin' like a ho-" lol.

The clean version of WAP takes away most of the song.

I don't think iHeart's kid stations played that one (though they did play "Wow.", which was amusing with all the alcohol references and anything that sounded vaguely suggestive censored, including "20 inch blades" and "Stoney", the name of his album).
Funny enough iHeart also appears to have laid off whatever intern was making a mess of some of these songs as the kids' stations now play regular radio edits of new songs, even stuff like Big Energy.
(Apparently there's a kid edit of Tinashe's 2 On from back when they had Nick Radio - I'd love to figure out how in the world they managed that.)

Just heard a hilarious radio edit of "The Next Episode" where instead of the word substitutions in the typical radio edit, all swears were either muted or backmasked. All references to alcohol, smoking and drugs were also backmasked, which meant the song was censored down to mostly gibberish followed by a non-explicit word every few seconds. The funniest part of it though was the backmasked "deew ekoms everyday!" at the end lmao.

I've also heard an edit of Semi-Charmed Life on the alternative station here that reverses "down" in "down on me", "crystal meth" and "bumped" in "then I bumped up", even though he says "bump" three other times in that verse. (I guess they thought he said "Then I fucked up"?)
This is although they play You Oughta Know with the "Would she go down on you in a theater?" line intact and MGMT's Time to Pretend with "heroin" and "cocaine" intact.

I think we can safely put “HISS” in this file.

The NickMusic edit of "yes, and?" blanks out "through the fire" in "Come on and walk this way through the fire". One of the most absurd edits they've done - even if they were fearful of kids somehow getting the idea to walk through literal fire from it, they played Mimi Webb's "House On Fire" unedited!

Not technically "censored," but I was listening to my local CHR today and the DJ played an edit of Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" where all the celebrity names (P. Diddy, Mick Jagger, etc.) were removed, and the DJ substituted his own name in place of them using a Ke$ha AI. 😭

Speaking of Ke$ha, has “Die Young” been heard on radio since, and was everything in tact?

I found the edit I was talking about, and upon hearing it again, this may be one of the worst clean edits I've ever heard lol. 0:19-0:30 particularly is hilarious to me, considering they literally just needed to mute the f-bomb and "weed," but they completely annihilated multiple phrases for some reason lmao. (Not to mention there's an official clean version that just substitutes out those words and sounds so much more natural. Literally who thought this edit sounded better? 😭)

"Xxplosive" with Nate Dogg and Kurupt from the same album is almost just as bad. lol. Kurupt's verse was entirely removed.
