Stunning! I already lost almost all my bottom 10!

"Shame About That" - When I heard this I admit that I had the same "circus music" thought as bboat11 and initially had it in my bottom 5; I then realized it was quickly getting stuck in my head and after a few more listens I ended up feeling this was one of the guilty pleasures I discovered for this rankdown. Not surprised to see it in the bottom 10, however. "That's the Beat of a Heart" - I had almost all but forgotten about this song and initially had it in my bottom 10; I listened to it a couple more times and by about the 2:00 minute mark felt like this song just really takes off to another level that pulls you in with the chorus; and even though Sara's part is minimal she really helps make the song a standout that it might not have been otherwise. Recap Questions: 1) What songs are you surprised to see in the bottom 10?I was hoping "At Christmas" would clear the bottom 10 because I think it's a great holiday ditty, but Christmas songs never do all that well in these rankdowns so the fact that each one was eliminated isn't surprising. Other than that nothing has been a real surprise thus far. 2) What songs do you expect to be out in the next 5 or so reveals?Hard to predict but either of these five wouldn't surprise me: "Feels Just Like a Love Song", "Can't Stop Loving You", "Low", "Some Things Never Change", and "Love You With All My Heart"

"That's The Beat of A Heart" deserved better. Disappointed to see it out so early, didn't expect it to last all that long but it should have lasted a little longer.

"That's The Beat of A Heart" deserved better. Nah. Ranking this high as some of y'all did would be like putting "No Place That Far" as one of Vince Gill's best songs. Sara only has like 3 seconds on the song to herself near the end and some semi-noticeable-but-not-really-directly-discernible harmony vocals, and this was her rankdown so... the bottom is where it belonged.

We kick off the Top 30 with our first album track loss from something other than Sara Evans' debut effort. Originally planned as the second single from Slow Me Down before being suspiciously delayed and then ultimately cancelled (and later replaced months later by "Put My Heart Down"), "Can't Stop Loving You" is an explosive uptempo duet with Isaac Slade of The Fray, and is a great display of Evans vocal abilities as she sings that absolute fire out of this track. Unfortunately y'all did stop the love for this one as it received minimal high ranks (most of y'all put this one in the 20s) and likely succumbed to lower familiarity and nostalgia as well given that it was one of the non-singles selected for this rankdown. It does take another crack out of @xfer's Top 10, however. "I try to crush it like the ashes of a cigarette I try to smother out the embers but I just can't quit If there's a way to put it out, I haven't found it yet Haven't found it yet"

What was originally intended to be Sara Evans' comeback hit after she stepped away from the mainstream spotlight for a few years in the wake of her messy divorce, the ill-fated and oft-forgotten "Feels Just Like a Love Song," is the next to leave us just inside the Top 30. One of her poppiest releases to date, this toe-tapping ode to the joys of domestic life boasts a busy production and sing-songy chorus, and was initially released a year ahead of "A Little Bit Stronger," but for reasons undisclosed it was pulled from radio shortly after release and she once again disappeared from radio for another year. This tune collected one top 10 rank from BlueShades874, and a few in the teens, but it is yet another case where most participants were not feeling this one too much and it received largely 20s placements from most. "It's always been inside my head. Sunlit hardwood floors and feather beds. And children laughin' runnin' up and down the stairs. It would be heaven without goin' nowhere."

I remember it being released, and I heard it on the radio all the time for like 2 weeks, and then it and Sara literally vanished and everybody forgot it ever happened... It was so mysterious! Edit: It was so odd, because at least judging by its reception around my city, it was on its way to being a hit!

Next we take our first bite out of Restless as the fourth and final single, "Tonight," is the next radio release to get axed from the rankdown. Generally pegged by her fans as being a swing and a miss in the singles department from said album, this 5-minute long ballad with minimal help in the production department places Evans vocal performance front-and-center -- which is beautiful and underrated af. This song tapped out just before reaching the top 40 of the country charts, and it doesn't get too much farther here as it only scrapes the top 30 of the rankdown and beats only two of her other lead chart singles (both also flops, though from her debut record instead). This one proved to be quite divisive as ranks were a bit all over the place for this one comparatively with most of the previous reveals we've seen. It was able to rack up a solid number of high ranks, including multiple top 10s, but it also was weighed down in part by two #40s as it drew the ire of austin and someguy. "I might be just a sinner Who wants to be a saint One justifies the reason Oh, one understands the pain"

Oh wow, this was pulled from radio? I don't remember it at all, so that's probably why but I like it! Nowhere near one of Sara's best though It was a very odd series of events and I'm sure we'll never know the full extent of what happened with it, but about 2 weeks after it was released Sara Evans put up an article on her website that was along the lines of her saying she'd requested that her label pull the single so she could go back into the studio and keep working on new music because the timing was off and she didn't feel ready to jump back in yet. It was a puzzling time and I'm not totally sure what was going on, but it seemed like Sara was still finding herself at the time... though it was a weird situation seeing as the single had already been pushed to radio and charted. As Zeebz said above, it all worked out in the end because "A Little Bit Stronger" became that big 'moment' for her a little over a year later, and I don't know if things would've gone as well if they'd just stuck with FJLALS (I recall at the time of its release the signs of it being a hit weren't really there -- it wasn't looking like it would be the song to save her career).

"Tonight" barely has a melody. It's a chore to listen to. "Can't Stop Loving You" really isn't that good either.
I do like "Feels Just Like A Love Song" though, I have to say. However, not that sad or shocked to see it go.

However, not that sad or shocked to see it go. Literally every time you use this complaint, it makes even less sense. How in the world do you listen to a song like "Tonight" and say it barely has a melody? It has a very blatant melody, filled with incredible harmonies and constantly building in intensity. And Sara sings the hell out of it. Like, if someone listened to a karaoke track of this song I could see them finding it boring, but the way she sings it is literally dripping with emotion...

Every song has a melody lol but this one is weak IMO. I don't like it. It doesn't flow nicely for me at all. It's uninteresting. It's unpleasant. It's boring. Sara sounds great and there is emotion there, but that doesn't make the song itself any more pleasurable.

For me "Tonight" is a song that only a more mature audience can appreciate. When Restless was released, it was a song I skipped, and I was horrified when it was chosen as a single. Now in my 30's, I absolutely love it. It is a song that stops me in my tracks. Absolutely beautiful.

I didn't used to skip it but I remember being mad it was a single because of how many great options there were. I still think other songs could've been hits in it's place, but I find myself loving it much more now than when I was 13 lol Also 'Restless' was the 2nd album I ever had, and first I bought for myself so seeing it take a hit hurts. :'(

Can’t Stop Loving You - I remember the whole Slow Me Down era was so frustrating because they waited forever after SMD peaked to announce this as the second single, then it seemed like a few more months passed before they decided to go with something else. Of course by that time radio has all but forgotten about Sara and we knew nothing from the album would do anything on radio. Such a shame because there were so many great songs that could have been hits.
Feels Just Like a Love Song - Like others said, this one was so strange. I remember being so excited that Sara was making a comeback, then just as soon as they announced this they pulled it. I figure there had to be more there than they wanted to publicly announce, it still seemed so bizarre to release it, let it chart on radio then suddenly be like, “Oh, just kidding, we’re not ready yet.” I think this could have been a decent-sized hit, but nowhere near as huge as Little Bit Stronger was a year later.
Tonight - If I recall correctly, Sara and her team pulled the plug fairly quickly on this one because they wanted to move on to A Real Fine Place to Start. Kind of made me wonder why they bothered to release this one if they were gonna pull it so quickly. I also remember my local station played it quite a bit, but they trimmed a good bit off the end and the radio edit had a really awkward ending. It just felt rushed and the song just seemed to suddenly end out of nowhere. I still wonder how far this one could have gone if they had actually tried.
