The (dis)honor of coming in last place for the Sara Evans rankdown goes to Sara's collaboration with reality TV Christian "star" Todd Chrisley, who recruited her to duet on "Infinite Love" with him as a dedication to his wife Julie for her birthday. The pair are also notable for having had their families compete on Celebrity Family Feud, in which Sara's family massacred Chrisley's, hence the clue from above (her shocked face was from when it was revealed in the Fast Money round she only needed 10 points to win after her brother got 190/200 needed, lol). This song flopping should come as far less surprise to most as it was placed in the bottom half of every single participant's list, including a whopping eight #40s. There was little love for this one, and it sure didn't last forever. "Lookin' back ain't it crazy that we're here? Stronger than ever and deeper every year Each day is better than the last And I'm thankin' God for all we have And everytime we kiss it's all so clear"

Now this one actually wasn't that bad. Definitely deserved much better than last place imo. I can understand bottom ten and possibly bottom five, but last place?!? COME ON!

I agree in thinking it's overhated. Sara Evans vocals on this song are incredible. The way she sings the second verse alone kept this one out of the bottom 5 for me, easily. That said, I can see why it placed on the low end with a discography as strong as hers.

The quality threshold in this rankdown is unnaturally high, and unfortunately this was a song that I am not surprised to see fall victim as a result. Still a solid A- song though, even with Todd as a duet partner!

Up next we see our first Christmas song from the rankdown as her cover of "I'll Be Home for Christmas" gets sent home with a quickness. Clocking in with only 15 less points than "Infinite Love," but nearly 50 points away from the next highest song, these two were the definitive bottom 2 for most of the submission process. This dreary number with an intro that always felt "off" to me melodically, this song was an easy last place for me and is the one song in this list that I could honestly do without. Tragically enough, it's the only holiday song of her career to have made an appearance on the airplay charts, when it charted in 2007 in the mid 40s. This one garnered seven last-place ranks so I was not alone in my dislike of this song, and despite a lone Top 20 rank from @xfer, this one bombed as hard as its predecessor by receiving almost exclusively bottom half placements. "Christmas Eve will find me Where the lovelight gleams I'll be home for Christmas If only in my dreams"

"I'll Be Home For Christmas" is one of my least favorite Christmas songs in general because it is just SO boring. Sara's version starts out so promisingly (imo the way she does the intro sounds so good!!! My favorite rendition of the intro, by far!), but once she launches into the song itself, her version just plods and is so boring and un-energetic...
Tbh the only version of this song I can stand is Martina's. She somehow managed to give it a little more energy than most people do. But that being said, it is still one of my least favorites on her Christmas album as well... Just a boring song, all around... And did I mention it's a boring song? I find it to be pretty boring.

It sounds like they accidentally botched the tempo or melody of the song when she was doing it in the studio and they were just like "eh, we'll keep it." The rest of the song plods along and is dreary af either way, but the intro is just plain jarring and unpleasant, and her vocals on the song are easily some of her worst to date imo.

Pulse rankdowns have never been the kindest to Christmas songs, so we go two-in-a-row and expunge "Go Tell It on the Mountain" from the rankdown. Y'all let this one drop right off the mountain and straight to the bottom 5. For the first time, we see multiple top 20 losses as three of you let it graze your top half rankings, though it was weighed down by almost everyone else dropping it near the bottom of their list, with The Brazilian Guy 🇧🇷 losing his last place rank this time (the only one to do so after a plethora on the last two reveals). "Go tell it on the mountain Over the hills and everywhere Go tell it on the mountain Our Jesus Christ is born"

This is by far the best rendition of "Go Tell It On The Mountain"! That being said, I am totally fine seeing it finish here, considering how strong her catalog is. I love so many of her songs more!

I have a soft spot for Christmas music and I really enjoyed Sara’s take on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”. This song isn’t necessarily a holiday staple for me but I do always put it on when I’m driving back home for Christmas (usually Vince Gill’s or Elvis Presley’s). And if it’s Martina vs. Sara I actually prefer Sara’s slower and more intimate version.
“Go Tell It On the Mountain” is at the bottom of my Christmas song playlist but I guess I’d have to say Dolly Parton’s version would be my favorite.

Confession: I've actually thought about breaking out the Christmas music soon since time's flying too fast on my end! :kii:
On a more serious note, I hope that there's a break from this Christmas purge coming up real soon, preferably next tbh.

I won’t lie, I despise Christmas music. With a passion. It’s disgusting. That being said I do love Sara’s “Go Tell it on the Mountain” and I have no idea why. Had it been any other artist I wouldn’t touch it with a 1,000 foot stick.

We take a detour from the Christmas tunes with this next one and see "You're Gonna Go" take its own title's advice and get gone. One of the first tracks Sara Evans recorded in the early 90s when she had just moved to Nashville and tried to start a country career a good 4 or 5 years before Three Chords and the Truth ever saw the light of day, this tune marks Evans' first music video. It was ultimately left to collect dust on a shelf until long after her career had taken off and The Early Years was released in 2007 around the same time RCA put out her Greatest Hits project. For most of you, it seemed like this one could've stayed in the vault without many tears shed. Thankfully, Sara Evans' material and vocal ability improved greatly over time from her fetus days. Nonetheless, a few Top 20 ranks are lost here anyway, though just as many lose a #40. "You lied and said you'd love me 'Til the day we both saw time stand still But I guess that was all just for show God, I can't believe you're really gonna go"
