Rap ends its #1 string but... Cardi B is on the current #1 Yeah, I was trying hard to reconcile that. Billboard needed to create a "Pop" narrative to fill out the story, but it's not accurate. Does anyone really believe GLY, which was an unnoticed album track for months, would've broken out of the box on streaming, radio and sales without Cardi B? The video really broght it attention though, so I think it still would have been a hit. I agree it wouldn't have done nearly as well on streaming without Cardi however.

Really amazed that Eminem can still have songs debuting in the upper regions of the chart this late in the game, gives me some faith in the younger generation.
As for "Girls Like You", I honestly thought those people who had so much faith in it and said it'd be able to sneak in a week at #1 (all those months ago) were a bit nuts. Here we are. Huh. I suck at chart predictions.
Sooo happy for "Youngblood", one of my favorite songs right now. Overall, a good week, worth waiting for.

Eminem is the king.
Good for Maroon 5 as well, glad they didn't get stuck at #2 again like they did with Sugar.

Btw "Girls Like You" is the 99th #1 song of the decade. Let's see which one becomes the 100th.
Cue the "Taki Taki" replies.

Congrats to Cardi. After posting this I'm gonna head to stan twitter to witness yet another meltdown of a certain barbaze. YES @ 5SOS. Their best song truly came through. Also, "Makes Me Wonder," three weeks at No. 1, beginning May 12, 2007 "Moves Like Jagger," featuring Christina Aguilera, four, beginning Sept. 10, 2011 "One More Night," nine, beginning Sept. 29, 2012 "Girls Like You," featuring Cardi B, one to-date, beginning Sept. 29, 2018 (coincidentally, exactly six years after "One" hit No. 1) why do all 4 of their #1s have a 3-word title and there's a female feature on every other one of them? Does that mean their next #1 (if it happens) will be a female-less 3-worded song? Plus, What Lovers Do (featuring SZA) fit all the criteria needed to be their 4th #1 too but it failed to do so. Why?? Is Atlantic Records to be blamed for this too?

lol I always used Better Now's YT streams as the total reported by YT Insights multiplied by 3.4. Guess this week it didn't work that way and I shouldn't have used that multiplier. 5-6 million streams is the difference between #2 and #5.

More mediocrity, laziness and basicness at #1. Huzzah. Happy for Cardi, it's great to see a female rapper seeing so much success in such a short period and I hope she continues to push on. Nice that 5SoS get a post in the top 10 too, I don't like the song that much but they are an interesting addition to the top tier.

Thats the first song I thought of when I read that post. When I think "Drake classic", I think Started from the Bottom, Best I Ever Had and Hotling Bling. I kinda forgot One Dance ever existed (not that I dislike the song or anything) but that might just be a pop thing. I think his latest album has multiple songs that might remain cookout worthy but time will tell. Nice For What might be the last one standing just for the Lauren sample alone. Yeah, I don't really rate One Dance either. It doesn't feel like a classic, but it deserves an honourable mention for being his first #1 and his biggest hit in a lot of ways, till date. I feel like that song, along with Hotline Bling, really placed Drake as a staple in the pop world and established him as a figure who could make pop songs that work. There's also Hold, On, We're Going Home, Take Care. He's got loads of songs that I personally consider classics. The songs I can see people still appreciating off Scorpion in the foreseeable future are the three #1 singles, Jaded, March 14, 8 out of 10 and maybe Don't Matter to Me. As huge as Scorpion is, it felt like a project Drake put out to thread water. It's a massive album era, but for a 25-song project, there aren't a lot of standout tracks. I think the entire side A alone would have been a classic Drake album, but side B really drags the album to a slow crawl even though I love a lot of songs on there. Knowing Drake, he's probably got a brand new set of songs ready for next year, so it's all good with me. I completely agree. That album could have been cut in half (mostly from the second part of the album) and it would have been great.

Girls Like You - a bigger hit in Canada, before falling to #2 last week to Kanye, had been #1 for 6 weeks
