Plus, Baekhyun re-enters in the top five & Dinah Jane debuts.
Lovelytheband is the top emerging act in the U.S. for the first time, as the trio rises from No. 2 to No. 1 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart (dated Oct. 6).
The group tops the ranking on the strength of its breakthrough single "Broken," which matches its No. 41 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song previously spent nine weeks at No. 1 on both Rock Airplay and Alternative Songs and concurrently holds at its No. 2 high on Hot Rock Songs. The track has crossed over to pop radio, bulleting at No. 4 on the latest Adult Pop Songs list and No. 20 on Pop Songs.
Meanwhile, the trio's follow-up single "These Are My Friends" hits new peaks on Alternative Songs (No. 24) and Rock Airplay (No. 36).
The Emerging Artists chart ranks the most popular developing artists of the week, using the same formula as the all-encompassing Billboard Artist 100, which measures artist activity across multiple Billboard charts, including the Hot 100, Billboard 200 and the Social 50. (The Artist 100 lists the most popular acts, overall, of the week.) However, the Emerging Artists chart excludes acts that have notched a top 25 entry on either the Hot 100 or Billboard 200, as well as artists who have achieved two or more top 10s on Billboard's "Hot" song genre charts and/or consumption-based "Top" album genre rankings.
South Korean singer Baekhyun re-enters Emerging Artists at No. 3, a new peak, thanks to a surge in social reaction. The EXO member also returns to the Social 50 chart at No. 2, matching his best rank, with a 1,343 percent increase in overall activity.
Rounding out the Emerging Artists chart's top five, Lauv drops to No. 2 after 13 weeks at the summit; Sheck Wes jumps 7-4, hitting the top five for the first time; and Louis Tomlinson falls 4-5.
Plus, Fifth Harmony member Dinah Jane enters Emerging Artists at No. 26, powered by her debut solo single "Bottled Up," featuring Marc E. Bassy and Ty Dolla $ign. She concurrently debuts at No. 21 on the Social 50.
