Writers: Cary Barlowe, Fred Wilhelm, Niko Moon, Shay Mooney Producers: Jay Demarcus, Rascal Flatts So it's produced by the Department of Redundancy Department. Is it also sung by Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus, Joe Don Rooney, and Rascal Flatts? Jay’s the main producer, the other guys “helped”.

So I like this, a lot
However, I feel like this sounds an awful lot like “Easy” - is the chord progression identical, or is it just me? Especially going into the chorus... I really like it, just sounds strikingly similar imo.

Official Mediabase debut is #41, so just outside the Mediabase top 40. I think a Billboard Top 40 debut with a chance of Billboard Top 30 as well.

28 total adds for "Back To Life" on the Mediabase Adds Report. Second most added song this week behind Thomas Rhett's "Sixteen".

28 total adds for "Back To Life" on the Mediabase Adds Report. Second most added song this week behind Thomas Rhett's "Sixteen". Surprisingly low, considering the iHeart debut. This also debuted at #28 on BB.

Listening to it today, I definitely heard the "Easy" comparisons, which I don't mind at all since "Easy" is one of my favorite tracks from them this decade. However, I think there's enough of a difference between the two to not be overbearingly similar.

Gary sounds like trash on this, moreso than usual.
I don't like this (shocker) but is actually much better than their last two singles.

Looks like this fell completely off the Mediabase chart.

This song flies in atop Country Digital Song Sales (12,000 sold), marking the trio’s first No. 1 on the tally among 10 top 10s. On Hot Country songs, it arrives at No. 31 as the chart’s highest debut.

This looks like a flop to me. Very slow moving so far.

Without an initial airplay deal, I think this is the new norm for Rascal Flatts songs. This will probably re-enter the top 40 eventually, which is probably the level of success that they would have seen without a deal.

SiriusXM's The Highway is very confused about this song. Now for the second straight week I have heard this song introduced on their Top 30 Countdown as "Back To Life" but then "Back To Us" actually gets played. Kinda wanna tweet The Highway and tell them about it, but now that it's gone a second week with the same mistake I kind of want to see how long it will go until they notice it.

I don’t know how that happens with nobody in the studio noticing. Or they just don’t care enough to notice.

We all make mistakes and the intern that they probably have splicing Storme and MC's segues in between songs probably heard "Back To..." and grabbed the first Rascal Flatts "Back To.." song they found in the system. But they play that countdown multiple times over the course of a weekend so you'd think someone would've heard that mistake and ensured that it didn't happen again this weekend.

The brand manager/music director or someone with any authority hears the mistake and makes sure it never happens again. I’m an ideal world... For Y2Kountry’s top 30 countdowns in the past, they always seemed to mistakenly play the first song recorded by George Strait called, “She’ll Leave You With a Smile”, instead of the actual #1 single he recorded some years after. That’s just laziness. Both songs are in the system and instead of listening to it before scheduling into the segment, they blindly put it in.

A few weeks back on the Prime Country countdown they played Randy Travis/Jamey Johnson version of "A Few Ole Country Boys" instead of the Randy Travis/George Jones one they announced. I assumed it was because they didn't have the right version but after reading sabre14 post maybe not?

I assumed it was because they didn't have the right version but after reading sabre14 post maybe not? Knowing you’re gonna play a song on a countdown like that, you should have the correct one in the system and inserted when it’s time to introduce it. The way most stations work (including Sirius/XM), there is a computer software where all your logs are kept and run continuously. A system can store thousands of songs. CDs are not used anymore. It could be they simply put the wrong one in the system and never checked it (good God, if that’s the case) or they have both songs (in the Rascal Flatts case, is the scenario) and scheduled the wrong one in the countdown (which is also egregious). You just need the mp3 audio. At our station, we have some mistakes in the log, mostly the post-line is off (post-lines are the indicator where the vocals kick in) song titles are off or in all caps, but the wrong audio is inexcusable. It’s a bad look for sure. I’m sure listeners have given them flack for it but I guess, they haven’t learned their lesson and keep making mistakes like this, which never should happen.

While not having worked in the industry I have had talks with others who have and definitely find these mistakes to be unnecessary.

I noticed three errors in addition to playing the wrong version of A Few Ole Country Boys (which I noticed too). Mike Terry introduced Doug Stone’s Fourteen Minutes Old as his first hit (it was his second; his first was I’d Be Better Off In a Pine Box). Also, Exile’s song Yet was in the countdown but they erroneously played a different Exile song (I don’t remember which song was played). And Restless Heart’s When Somebody Loves You was in the countdown, but they played Alan Jackson’s 2001 song (different song, same title).

I didn't pick up on this last week, but "Back to Life" made the Mediabase Top 40 and will be getting CT40 spins which is a welcoming boost for this song.
I unfortunately don't see this song doing a ton more. I doubt the label drops this song anytime soon, but this song just seems to be barely moving overall and I wouldn't be shocked if the initial debut position will be it's peak.

They've also played a duet verison of "He Walked on Water" that I believe was Kenny Chesney, as opposed to the original version If they can find that Gail Davies song about her grandma, why can't they get more basic stuff right?
