The Verve? Obviously not "Bitter Sweet Symphony", but their other song.

Interesting results. I would've lost a top 20 early on with Don't Drink The Water, a personal chart-topper back then, that I thought was interesting, mysterious, unique). Puzzled at DMB being so low here. Also a few other songs in my top 50: - Everything to Everyone: my favorite Everclear song and personal runner-up --why was it so low?! - Thank U: another personal chart-topper that was also a hit in pop radio stations back home (I like it less now, but the music and melody still sound good to me). - Deadweight: it wasn't a hit in my personal chart, but I've grown to really appreciate it with time. Tropicalia, on the other hand, was a bottom 5 for me in this RD - I Will Buy You A New Live: my second favorite Everclear song. - My Favorite Mistake: a persona runner-up that should've b That Dishwalla song was one of my best discoveries in this list, by the way. It's You was another one :) - I ranked All Around the World, I Will Still Be Laughing, Kind & Generous, Mouth, and Rattlesnake in my 70s for this RD --BUT I LOVE several songs from these artists. If I understand this correctly, Rankdowns for other years in the 1990s would come after this one? Yes? I'd be ready to rank much better and stronger songs like Misery, Carnival, Swallowed, and Turn My Head

I was hoping Natalie Merchant would be higher but I can't complain. I was just happy we could rank it. Fun fact: 4am is the first OLP song in an alt RD where I'm not the highest ranker. Well done American Idiot

Something about Father Of Mine makes it so damn depressing. Not what it’s about, but how it sounds.

70. All Around the World - OasisThis is actually a good mellow ALternative song. 69. Everything to Everyone - Everclearand now my favorite Everclear songs will start dropping out like flies. Well at least it got a good number. 68. Wishing I Was There - Natalie Imbrugliadamn! This was one of the fun ones. This should have been that Nathalie Merchant travesty. 67. Kind & Generous - Natalie MerchantOk there it is. boring as hell too. The "nanana's are the only salvage able parts. 66. 4am - Our Lady PeaceI didn't like this one half as much as I do their other songs. 65. Got the Life - KornThis song got lucky to jump out of my top 10. Horrid vocals, but The guitars saved it. 64. What I Didn't Know - AthenaeumWhat I didn't know is that this song even existed? I don't even think I can pronounce that band's name, but this one rocked pretty nicely 63. Once in a While - DishwallaI really only knew about one song from this band. Guess which one? Anyway, I liked this one enough to put it right outside my top 50. 62. I Will Buy You a New Life - Everclear Damn! I wish I could buy myself a new 1998 Alternative rank down, cuz this one blows. 61. All the Kids Are Right - Local HAnother band I thought was a 1 hit wonder. I put this pretty high for a first time listen, cuz this is more my Alt groove. 60. Heroes - The WallflowersAnother great sounding bop. 59. Father of Mine - EverclearAmazing. All three Everclear songs are much better than half the songs on this list. 58. My Favorite Mistake - Sheryl CrowNot bad at all. I like this one, but it would make me happy to see another hit of her's in the top 10. 57. Rattlesnake - LiveI didn't care for this Live song at all. 56. Deadweight - BeckThis song felt like deadweight to me. BTW, why is that tropical travesty still in the running. We are almost in the top 50 and five of my bottom dwellars are still alive. I would like to see these travesties exit before we hit the top 50. Especially one I consider one of the worst songs in history

Only When I Lose Myself - Depeche Mode Not too terrible, but also not in my music archives.
What'cha Gonna Do? - Cowboy Mouth What can I say? I like this.
RPM - Sugar Ray A different sound for Sugar Ray? This sucks bad.
Airport Song - Guster Didn't care for this one either. Not enough "punch" for me.
A Perfect Day Elise - PJ Harvey I can see why these songs flopped. Most of them were flat out boring.

Spoiler: This is my highest Everclear song. I genuinely thought I'd rank this one higher, too, but this year proved to be more difficult than I thought it would be. 69

Wishing I Was There Natalie Imbruglia
Year-End Placing: #93 Chart Peak: #26 Chart Weeks: 8 1620 points On second thought, I underranked this. I probably should have put it in my 50s at least.

I was being purposefully vague. Oh well. At least this tank brigade is kind of understandable.
Congrats on clearing your bottom tens, Mr. Thonk Eyes and Beno . 65
Got the Life Korn
Year-End Placing: #65 Chart Peak: #17 Chart Weeks: 26 1673 points Everybody hates the vocals in this song, but I find them amusing. Maybe I'm easily amused? I also like the pace of the song.

Father of Mine Everclear
Year-End Placing: #25 Chart Peak: #4 Chart Weeks: 27 1770 points I don't dislike this song; I'm just burnt out on it. I said before this rankdown began that my bottom 20 is full of songs that I'm burnt out on, and this is one of them, unfortunately.

We last ranked Sheryl Crow in the 2017 Triple A rankdown. It's been a while. We're also about to see her more often. 58
My Favorite Mistake Sheryl Crow
Year-End Placing: #88 Chart Peak: #26 Chart Weeks: 11 1772 points I underranked this song a bit. It could have easily been in my 30s.

Get ready to see a lot more Live in the coming years. And I mean a lot more. 57
Rattlesnake Live
Year-End Placing: #92 Chart Peak: #18 Chart Weeks: 12 1804 points This is actually one of my favorite songs by Live. It has a dark sound to it, and some of you have probably noticed that I tend to like songs with some darkness to them. Come to think of it, as much as I like Throwing Copper, I actually like Secret Samadhi even better.

Deadweight Beck
Year-End Placing: #63 Chart Peak: #16 Chart Weeks: 17 1849 points Almost a perfect ranking. Damn. Beck tends to do some weird stuff in his songs, and the bridge in this song sounds out of place, but kind of funny nonetheless. Speaking of Beck, I know this is the wrong year to bring up Midnight Vultures, but it's an underrated album with two hilarious songs on it: "Debra" and "Hollywood Freaks." Check it:
