Red appears in both 2012 and 2013 Good catch! It charted when Taylor's album came out as part of the album bomb, then returned to the charts almost a year later. Those two runs should be combined for 2012 (when the song debuted at its peak of #6 before plummeting to #54 the next week) and I'll fix that when I put the 2011 chart back.
Thanks!

Also, I noticed If I Die Young being in the Top 200 for 2010 despite it not actually peaking in popularity until 2011.

Gonna spend a lotta time on the ol' spreadsheets tonight.

Should I also mention Cruise being on both the 2012 and 2013 lists? Because while there were two different chart runs, one for the original and one the remix, Billboard consolidated both into one chart run clocking in at a total of 54 weeks.

Also, I noticed both In the Night by The Weeknd and Jumpman by Drake & Future on the 2015 list despite them both peaking in popularity in January of 2016.

I'll check on both this and your second comment. The merged run gives FGL a massive 5989 points and a top 10 of either year.

I base the year on the first occurrence of the highest chart positions. Jumpman peaked at #12 around Nov 2015 so it's a 2015 track. It then reclimbed to that point in 2016. (But I did have the wrong total, as I missed a week, which I'm correcting.)
In The Night peaked at #20 on the Dec 26 chart so just squeezes in.

It took some figuring out how best to handle songs that charted in two separate runs in different years (like Cruise, Red, If I Die Young, and at least one other).
I finally decided to go via my All-time Hits route. The way that works is songs that when songs have charted in different years (like The Twist or most recently, Bohemian Rhapsody or All I Want For Christmas) the points from each year are weighted separately. As an example, the top ten songs of 2017 scored a total of 78138 points, a record maximum. The top ten of 1965 only score a total of 26,319. The average top ten, since 1958 (the year the Hot 100 was introduced) is 46,516 points. So every song's score from 2016 is multiplied by 46516/78138 (or 0.595), and every song from 1965 is multiplied by 46516/26319 (or 1.767) to try to achieve chart parity.
Is it perfect? No, but it gets me remarkably close to the Billboard all-time listings.
So the "Total Score" is the sum of each year's adjusted run. For most songs, they only chart once, but on those recharting hits, you're seeing the total of both years. I'm completed thru 2013 and I'll be adjusting the rest going forward, probably tonight.

I did a little bit more research and it turns out you were correct about Jumpman. However, in regards to In the Night, it peaked at #12 on the week of January 2, 2016, at least based on the information I used: musicchartsarchive.com/singles/the-weeknd/in-the-night

One final correction I just noticed is that Nasty Freestyle peaked in popularity May of 2015. Also, Kick the Dust Up should probably also be in the 2015 ratings.

It looks like I didn't leave enough non-charting weeks between it's first chart appearance and re-entry. I think I've got that fixed now.

Also, I think Nasty Freestyle by T-Wayne is supposed to be on 2015's list instead of 2016's and so was Kick the Dust Up by Luke Bryan (which didn't appear on any list yet).

I would check “Throw Sum Mo”’s run in 2015, it seems way too low

When you fix 2015, can you move Nasty Freestyle from 2016 to 2015 as it peaked in popularity in 2015. And can you also add Kick the Dust Up somewhere in the 2015 list?

You spelled complete wrong. Nope. Almost all dictionaries accept it as an archaic alternate spelling.

Thanks to all, especially nick64 and 94sidekick for proofreading the results from the 2010s. Now that those are out of the way, as Casey used to say, let's get back to the countdown!

One more I thing I noticed regarding 2016. You forgot to include Close by Nick Jonas ft. Tove Lo.

It's kinda insane how if this YE prediction thing was around a decade ago, there could've been chart nerds complaining about weird al getting caught between years

These are great! Thanks for doing these. I love Fred Bronson's 'Hottest Hot 100" book and always wondered what more recent years would have looked like.

propanda : Trivia note on Weird Al. He's the act that taken the longest time from his first chart appearance (Ricky, #63, 1983) to his first top 10 (White and Nerdy, #9, 2006). 23 years! I don't know who is even close to that! Ike & Tina Turner took eleven years from A Fool In Love (#27, 1960) to Proud Mary (#4, 1971). Other than that, I can't think of an act that went over a decade. Meanwhile, back on topic: The Top 200 songs of 2005 (Complete chart runs)
