94sidekick : I think you're right. Gotta check why it gave me the wrong year. It may have done that elsewhere too.
In the meantime, the year of Peak Usher:

Shouldn't "Red", "Sparks Fly", and "The Story of Us" be put a year earlier due to their debut peaks?

nick64, 94sidekick: I'll check those out this weekend, but based on your history I have little doubt you're correct.
In the meantime, I'm gonna dig myself an even deeper hole.

When you make your fixes this week, can you also add Close by Nick Jonas ft. Tove Lo to the 2016 list?

If Tove Lo ever covered Love To Love You Baby it would almost be a palindrome!
ETA: Fix applied. Close is now #65 for the year.

Been trying to figure out how to handle songs that got the majority of points in one year, but actually peaked in a separate run in the subsequent chart year. Like "Breathe (2 am)", "Red" and "Live Like You Were Dying".
In my finite wisdom I've decided each year's chart run will be kept separate, and then multiplied by that year's adjustment factor. Whichever year gets the most points, after adjustment, will be the year that song will be assigned to, and both years' points will be included.
Exception: Seasonal songs, such as (in particular) All I Want For Christmas, that repeatedly chart will have each chart run kept separate, and assigned to the year it re-entered, rather than the year it peaked.
If there's a skip in calendar years (e.g, 2011 & 2013), songs will be treated as completely separate entities for this list purpose.
Will this require a lot of recalculation? Oh, yes.
Yes, it will.

Well, I've applied all the fixes recommended, meaning that there are revised charts for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009 & 2016.
Seems like a good time to continue:

I think you posted the 2005 list twice when you meant to post the list for 2004. Also, the image is unavailable for the 2006 list.

2001 has a god-like top 2 Ah, but it was a twilight of the gods.
The last year when actually ROCK music topped the charts, never mind the top two. (Radioactive was the exception, but it took charting over 3 calendar years to reach that total.)
And don't start me with with "Nickelback is awful". They aren't and they never were, but as the last rock band to keep having hits they over-saturated their market. Everyone likes pizza. Nobody likes pizza 834 days in a row.
My suspicion is that Imagine Dragons will soon be in the same position. A band who will be poisoned by their own success. Within two years we'll see the same memes about ID that we've grown used to with Nickelback.

now that you finished your 2000s, do you think you would be able to compile up a top 2000 songs of the 2000s list?
I'd assume it would probably be the top 200 songs from all ten years in order of points, with a few other songs maybe crossing over.

Wow, "Where My Girls At?" by 702 was huge in 1999.
To think TLC rejected both "Where My Girls At?" and "Baby One More Time" for "Fanmail", that era would be even more huge

mamooshka: Long as people are interested, I'll keep posting.
The Top 200 Songs of 1998 (Complete Chart Runs)
Keep in mind, we're in the era now where "radio hits" not released as singles weren't allowed to chart. Because of that, songs like Don't Speak and the Fugees' Killing Me Softly won't appear. And songs that held off on single release to stimulate album sales like My Heart Will Go On, are hugely understated.

Wow @ #7. IDWW didn't crack the Top 10 and finished as the year's 7th biggest song. Attachment Deleted
