This has to best the most consistent year of them all! I know I sound biased, but still...
My list will probably be in towards the deadline, even though I already started on it...

I'm so glad Milli Vanilli is in this rankdown. Means at least 4 of the bottom slots can be taken up by this musical travesty.

Even though Rob and Fab were not "Milli Vanilli" as advertised, the little-known session musicians who actually performed the songs did a damn good job, as far as I'm concerned. I ranked their songs based on the songs themselves, not the fiasco surrounding the band.

Halfway through '89, and...there are some really terrifying lows already. But the highs are so high. I won't say that the top two here is the most locked in I have ever had in the 80's RDs, given that 1983 and "Eileen"/"Billie Jean" was a thing and all...but it's not TOO far off. I'm so glad Milli Vanilli is in this rankdown. Means at least 4 of the bottom slots can be taken up by this musical travesty. This is where you and I diverge. They'll lose points for the faces faking their voice, but the musicians involved will also get some credit for being somewhat catchy.

I just thought the songs themselves were musical travesties. :kii:

Whatever happens happens, but my #1 song is my actual personal #1 of 1989.

I must be one of the few that never understood the hype behind Milli Vanilli, fiasco or not. I also might have some criticism for NKOTB.

Now for a little slice of radio History. In 1989. Scott Shannon bought out the lite radio KIQQ and turned it into the MASSIVE PIRATE RADIO 100.3. This is the official possession of when the station changed form Lite radio hits to Rock and Metal heaven. By late 1989 the station was putting all the best Hair and Glam Metal chart topping hits on heavy rotation. Needless to say it was my favorite station at the time. If you wanna get to the meat of things right away skip to minute 6:16 when the station kicks of with one of the best hair Metal songs ever. "Welcome To The Jungle". The tile of the song became the station's motto a tribute website dedicated to the station. This is the radio station that formed the Hair/Glam /Metal loving Frankenstein that is now me. www.kqlz.com/pirateradiomusic.htmlDoesn't this playlist make your mouth water. Pretty much a Doc Indie Party Rock playlsit. Oh yeah they played The Cars - "Let's Go:" www.kqlz.com/piratemusicbytrip.htmlCheck out any of the weekly playlists. This is the top 40 Rock playlsit for October 21st 1989. When Hard rock ruled the air waves.www.kqlz.com/images/billboard-oct21-1989.jpg...and of course I deliver only the best top 50 of 1989. The question is? Does it look like mine? Pirate radio Top 50 1989.1. Heaven - Warrant 2. Dr. Feelgood - Motley Cue 3. Patience - Guns N' Roses 4. Love In An Elevator - Aersomith 5. I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi 6. Once Bitten Twice Shy - Great White 7. When I See You Smile - Bad English 8. The Look - Roxette 9. 18 And Life - Skid Row 10. Poison - Alice Cooper 11. I've been swamped as of late, so, assuming I do get this in, it probably won't be until tomorrow...but I haven't missed an 80s RD yet, and I don't plan to now.
