Hey a perfect ranking. This was easily the worst out of all the hair metal songs this year.

Absolutely excruciating on every level. The falsetto on this song is one of the worst sounds I've ever heard. I'd seriously love to know what we were collectively smoking as a country letting this be a #1 hit. 😂😂😂😂😂😂

This was originally in the bottom 10 for me and then moved up a bit.

I thought that NKOTB was even worse with another song in this rankdown.
I'll Be Loving You would be, as the kids say, too pitchy for its own good.

Damn one spot away from a perfect ranking. I would’ve put this a bit lower but I don’t mind Cher.

When they're uptempo, the musicians behind "Milli Vanilli" and New Kids are fine.
When the beat slows down, their flaws become apparent pretty quickly.

I think this and Step By Step are their songs that register the highest for me. The teen-pop generally did better for me relative to the previous year, aside from one song I put in my bottom 5.

#96
Surrender To Me Ann Wilson & Robin Zander
Despite some dramatic vocal moments this is essentially 1989’s waste of two great singers.

Sa-Fire's Thinking of You was my favorite first time listen for 1989. You could feel the passion, the emotion.
Was hoping this would go farther, but oh well.

No real complaints with the first set. "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)" is hilariously bad. Arguably one of the worst songs we've listened to in the 80s.
Let's see how long I have to wait for my #99.

Hey a perfect ranking. This was easily the worst out of all the hair metal songs this year. the words worst and Hair Metal should never appear in the same sentence. Besides, "When The Children Cry" is a powerballad. You people have no heart. #'s 100-90. Not much to say about these reveals. The majoraty really suck except Sa-Fire and White Lion. BTW, two more Milli Vanilli travesties and my work here is done. ;)

I’m also here for Milli Vanilli leaving sooner rather than later.

So its time to showcase my personal top 100 of 1989. My three favorite genres at the time. Freestyle, Hair Metal and Hi -Energy were all trying to cram in as much music as possible into the final year of the 80's decade. This made it super hard for me to compile my top 50 weekly chart, but at the same time guaranteed one of my favorite personal top 100's ever. Very versatile, but always with my ever going Party music theme. 91. Michael Morales - Who You Give Your Love To (Billboard HOT 100 #15) (DOC #14)I remember catching this one on MTV, but don't recall much airplay. Only on Casey Kasem's American Top 40. This one reminded me of the Poprock songs on Andy Taylor's solo album. 92. Corina - Give Me Back My Heart (DOC #9) Corina was on Cutting Edge records. Another force in Freestyle music. This is a Video mix of the highlights of her 1988 live performance. This song also had strong Synths between the chorus and verses. 93. Cynthia - Endless Nights (Billboard Sales USA Dance #28) (DOC #22)By the time her Mic Mac debut album was released Cynthia already had scored 3 big Freestyle dance singles on the dance charts. This is the 1989 live performance of the song. The back round dancers could be TKA minus George Lamond who was already pursuing a solo career. 94. Def Leppard - Love and Affection (DOC #22)Hysteria was such a monster album I decided to chart another song off it. This was track #12. It had a "Hysteria" style to it and it stayed on my charts for over 25 weeks. It was also a staple song during their "Hysteria" world tour concerts 95. Noel - Change (DOC #15)This was the fourth single of his self titled debut album. It didn't chart on billboard was was underground club favorite. This is the album version of the song 96. Barduex - Hold Me Hold Me (Hi-Energy) (DOC #16)The last time I charted this Hi-Energy duo was with this club favorite. This one still had that James St. James Stacey Q NRG style. After this song Jaz left the group and Acacia pursued other music genres. This is the extended 12' mix. 97. ? (Billboard HOT 100 #9) (DOC #17)
98. Enuff Z' Nuff - New Thing (Billboard HOT 100 #67) (DOC #12)This Illinois based Glam Powerpopl band starts the Metal onslaught in my top 100 99. ? (Billboard HOT 100 #6) (DOC #15)100. ? (Billboard HOT 100 #3) (DOC #20)

I'd seriously love to know what we were collectively smoking as a country letting this be a #1 hit. And I still can't believe I actually found a song worse than this. Already a terrible idea to mash up two completely random 70s rock songs into adult contemporary mush, and the results ended up being as bad as expected. I guess the female vocalist here is passable, but the male vocalist...no, just no.

Baby, I Love You Way/Freebird Medley Will To Power
Total Points: 774
Billboard Hot 100: 1(1)
Billboard Top 100 of 1989: 9
From: Will To Power
Combining elements of Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Way" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" this peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 the week ending December 3, 1988.
🇯🇲 dollybaby 🇯🇲 becomes the first victim of a Top 10 loss with this exiting the rankdown...
