Oh, I just realized I accidentally deleted a past post of mine, the one before where I compared this songs chart run to how similar it was already to "Hide The Wine". Anyways this can be the official double post. Once again my apologies.
Anyways, "Closer to You" enters the Mediabase top 40 this week moving up 4 spots from #42 to #38. Carly Pearce saw a solid week on Mediabase gaining 84 spins and 389k in audience this week. that means "Closer to You" will be getting CT40 spins next week which will be a great boost for this song.

Woah, this has a +232 bullet! Together with Maren having a nice debut week (aka not falling out of the top 50 on day 8), Maddie & Tae and Lauren Alaina starting to get a little traction, Kelsea having great updates, and Carrie continuing to climb to the top 10, this has been a wonderful week for country females!

I would've trade Maddie & Tae having some more traction for Runaway June personally, who struggled this week so far, because I do think Runaway June has more of a chance to have a hit with "Buy My Own Drinks", where as "Friends Don't" has been on the chart forever, and probably won't move up much higher due to age. Back to Carly Pearce. Radio is really backing her and want her to have another hit with this song, and in general seems to be on board with her, despite not a ton of public interest yet. The chart run on Billboard has also been solid as well. Here's the chart run so far for anyone interested: 60-53-56-51-42-44-44-43-41 The past 3 weeks this song has gotten 34 adds on Mediabase and has gained 306 spins in that time frame as well, so radio is really on board with this lately. I am very happy to see this song do well, not because it is sung by a female artist, but because it is nice and fun to listen to and Carly Pearce is one of my favorite artists in the genre. I do wish the sales were better (#1016 all genre isn't good), but if radio is gonna give this song a chance than I will be more than satisfied.

Great video! Loved the lighting and the concept. I really love this song too! It's grown on me so much, and I liked it to begin with. Definitely the best song I've heard from her.

Wow, that music video was incredible. Simplistic, but everything about it looked stunning. Love that Michael Ray made a cameo in it, and I also like that they made it mysterious by never actually showing his face directly or anything. It was a nice touch and they played it well.

On a semi related note I love listening to One That Got Away and Closer To You back to back. They really go well together.

After 6 weeks on Mediabase of being stuck in the 35 to 36 range (5 of those weeks being at #35), "Closer to You" finally gets a spark lit both position wise and gains wise as Carly Pearce gained 94 spins and 757k in audience this past week on Mediabase. Carly Pearce also managed to move up 2 spots to #33 on Mediabase as she seems to be closing in on her third Top 30 single.

"Closer to You" is officially Carly Pearce's third Top 30 single with "Closer to You". Carly gained 77 spins and 290k in audience, which isn't bad.
Very happy to see radio still on board with Carly Pearce, excited and hopeful she can get a Top 10 out of this song, but I think Top 20 is probably more realistic.

I've LOVED all three of her singles and her debut CD was also wonderful, so I hope that this does make the top 20 and hopefully go much higher even if it takes most of spring to get there.

Oh wow, this song is not connecting on iTunes whatsoever on any lebel. Not even in the Top 200 country songs as it is the only song in the Top 40 not even there.
I can't recall how good callout scores are for this one (can't be too good because Carly Pearce is a female voice) but even if they are good, I don't think it'd make a huge difference. This is probably one of the very few times where I won't fault country radio if they don't bring this female song into the Top 20 since it doesn't seem to be resonating with people at all.
All that being said I do love the song and I want it to succeed but the deck is unbelievably stacked against this song.

I LOVE Carly and I visit her album often. Love every song on it. This song however, I have only listened to once. I have never felt the need to visit it again. That sucks, cause I want her to succeed.
I'm not sure I'll ever understand the need to jump ship on her debut so quickly, when this was what they did it for. "If My Name Was Whiskey" would've been a hit.

I have never been more letdown by an album than her debut. I LOVED (and still love) "Every Little Thing" but the entire album (except maybe "Careless") was horrific. I was not surprised when "Hide The Wine" stalled before the Top 10 and took a year to get there.
I also am not shocked this one is taking forever as it, too, is bland and forgettable. She is a pretty girl but her voice isn't spectacular and her songs so far are below average. I know radio has kind of taken a liking to her over some of the other females out right now, but I am not sure how long that will last if she doesn't get some better songs.

Did better than I thought it was going too. But yeah besides that I agree. This song is the epitome of safe, bland song that while nice to listen too, no one has any desire to buy. I do love this song, but I don't revisit it often, mainly because it is pleasant to listen too but then I instantly forget it. At least "Hide The Wine" did so well beacause it stood out from the crowd somewhat (still hear it on occasion on radio btw). This song is faceless. They just need a lead single that stands out, and this isn't it. Maybe something with a bit of sass like "Hide The Wine". I hope Big Machine has a backup song ready to be released and hit radio because this song isn't gonna get the album out.

It's low on the chart but I think that's more because listeners haven't heard it or don't have an opinion yet than them disliking it. Its familiarity is the lowest on the whole chart, 76.7%, The negative rate is only 13.6% and the burn rate is 5.6%, the lowest burn rate on last week's Mediabase callout chart. So what if it's not being purchased by a few thousand people on iTunes? I actually think this sounds like a hit. Maybe it'll manage a marathon chart run into the top 10.

It might be low on negatives, but overall the callout still isn't good, considering the fact that overall it is ranked near the very bottom of the songs. Also, so what if it's not being purchased on iTunes, so what if the streaming numbers aren't good at all, so what if etc. Get my point? While yes callout is important, radio should focus on songs that are connecting sales and streaming wise as well and this one isn't doing that either as sales and especially streaming are how people tend to listen too music if it isn't through radio. Also callout takes on a much smaller size than sales and streaming.

Yikes, this is struggling way more than I expected it to. Radio seems to like Carly Pearce more than the average new female enough to let this one get off to a decent start, but it's clearly not connecting. I think this is much better and sounds like more of a radio hit than "Hide the Wine," but at this point it doesn't look like it's going to get as far as that one did.

I liked her debut single and I am pulling for her, as a female artist, but I have to say her singles since have been forgettable for me and I find this boring and fluffy to the point of annoyance, which I thought meant good chance at the radio...I guess not :(

This appears to be done on most accounts. Hopefully whatever she comes back with will be strong enough to allow her second album to be released.
