Of all Ariana songs to hit #1, it had to be one of her most mediocre singles that’s only as successful as it is because she’s capitalizing on her relationship that she whored out to the public at every step of the way. Yikes Dont even get me started right now |

I finally listen to thank u, next for the first time. I definitely see this debut at #1, but I kinda hate this song. Ari always sounded too happy in most of her song. I mean, she broke up with Pete! I expect more sadness from her, but instead we got a bit moving song to show that you can do without your ex. Only time will tell if I'm going to like TUN. I used to like Into You, but now I hate it.

Consequences has been released as a single for a month now and it hasn’t touched the Hot 100. Won’t do anything. It takes all Camila songs time to build, Havana and NBTS didn't peak till six-eight months after there release. I can see Consequences topping hot ac and going top ten on pop Havana was a great song. A good urban crossover. NBTS was released when Camila was at her peak in popularity and reached top 10 because of a remix. Both songs also charted the week they were released, which Consequences could't do. But we'll see. |

A good urban crossover. NBTS was released when Camila was at her peak in popularity and reached top 10 because of a remix. Both songs also charted the week they were released, which Consequences could't do. But we'll see. NBTS would have made the top ten without the remix, it just would of peaked at eight instead of six, and consequences did debut on bubbling under. Hard to say if Camila is at the peak of popularity since she so new, her second album could be new popular |

Most likely 2019. It's extremely unusual for an artist to release two albums less than a year apart, let alone six months. I believe Pentatonix and BTS both did that this year. Hope it ain't a new trend. Eh, it's not as bad as releasing two albums a week apart like Future and Kanye. |

Yikes What a reach. I mean if the success of the song only had to do with the name dropping, the streams would have been huge the first day and then fallen afterwards. But the streaming numbers keep increasing daily so maybe people just, you know, like the song? Lmao besides, only 2/4 people she mentioned have even an ounce of relevancy. |

Camila had a huge smash, not a lasting impact. She had three huge #1s on pop. Both Havana and Never Be The Same will be top 20 on the H100 year end chart. That already takes her out of one hit wonder land. Plus Beautiful is doing well and that's her impact since the song is stalling in the 30s on pop before the remix |

So Kris Wu was removed from Apple Music due to "chart manipulation," Kris Wu fans (all 3 of them) blamed Ariana's people for it.
Apparently what really happened is that the release of Kris Wu's album was pushed back in China due to his birthday, so Chinese fans grew impatient and used VPN's to get US iTunes and buy his album. That's why he bombed iTunes a few days ago.
As far as I'm aware, the sales are still going to count cuz the album was bought under US iTunes. Ariana is still killing him on iTunes though.

Kris Wu's iTunes-Topping Sales Are Under Review When Chinese superstar Kris Wu released his album Antares on Friday via Interscope Records it saw quick success on the U.S. iTunes sales chart with tracks soon occupying the top seven song rankings. Once Ariana Grande's new single, "thank u, next," dropped on Saturday, Wu was regulated to a still-impressive seven of the top eight spots on the chart, but even then still managed to block Grande from the No. 1 slot. While Wu is a household name in China, he's relatively unknown in America. The former member of boy band EXO who has had acting roles in American and Chinese films made headlines in April when he signed a global deal with Universal Music Group, and his recognition has grown since. But such dominance from a foreign act still raised eyebrows and led to speculation online and in the music industry Wu gamed the system to dominate the iTunes sales chart reported to Nielsen, the data provider for Billboard's charts. Further adding to the mystery: Wu's streaming figures are relatively low, with just over 1 million monthly listeners reported on Spotify -- which is not available in China -- and his top Antares tracks on the platform performing well but not exceptionally so. (His top track "Deserve" featuring Travis Scott dropped nearly a month ago and has almost 24 million streams, while Grande's "thank u, next" already has over 29 million streams on Spotify.) Grande's manager, Scooter Braun, was among those wondering how Wu managed to drive his sales to such heights. On Sunday, this led him to post in a since-deleted tweet alleging Wu was using bots to drive his sales. On Wednesday (Nov. 7), Braun posted to Instagram that he and Wu had spoken and he wanted to clear up any "rumors" that had come out about them both. According to Braun's post, it was explained to him and Wu that because Wu's released was held back in China to coincide with his birthday on Tuesday that his fans there "went and got the music any way they could and that was US Itunes." To do this, Wu's fans in China would need to be technically savvy enough to mask their true IP address with a VPN and gain access to the U.S. iTunes store. Accordingly, assuming this is true, once the album was released in China on Tuesday, Wu's fans began no longer needed to hack the U.S. iTunes store, leading Wu's songs to drop from the U.S. iTunes chart. A rep for Apple could not be reached at time of publishing. On Wednesday, Universal Music China also issued a statement calling Wu's chart performance with Antares "genuine and effective," according to a translation from Sixth Tone. It also denied that the album had been taken offline from the iTunes store, as some had believed when the songs' rankings dipped. At time of publishing on Wednesday, Antares was available on iTunes and Wu's track "We Alive" was at No. 116 on the iTunes sales chart. "Billboard and Nielsen Music are working closely to ensure both the accuracy and legitimacy of the sales volumes being reported for Kris Wu this week," said Nielsen in a statement as Billboard's data provider. "We capture data from a number of sources including streaming, radio and retail, allowing us to validate the accuracy of sales and playback information as well as identify anomalies. As we do with all reports when irregularities are noticed during the normal weekly validation process, we work closely with our partners to address the issue, which may result in excluding any irregular or excessive sales patterns, prior to charts being finalized." Braun continued in his Instagram post, "I have never wished anything bad for Kris nor any other artist and those saying otherwise are wrong. Ariana is so debuting at #1, I’d be shocked if Girls Like You manages to hold on considering how weak it is. And Happier doesn’t have the streaming TYN has to hit #1 next week. It’ll probably go November 17 - thank u, next November 24 - Happier/thank u next December 1 - Happier onwards Not gonna lie, "Girls Like You"/"thank u, next"/"Happier" would be my favorite run of #1 singles in a while. What a terrible year for the Hot 100. |

Ariana Grande hitting these streaming peaks is great to see. I've always said that pop singers could pull in huge streaming numbers like rappers do if only their fans would go hard on streaming platforms. Great for Ariana.

I find it interesting how all the #1 debuts this year (including "thank u, next" which at this point is definitely a lock for the #1 spot) debuted off of less than a seven-day sales and streaming tracking period. Both "God's Plan" and "Nice for What" were released on Friday night, giving them a roughly six-day tracking period while both "This Is America" and "thank u, next" were released on a Saturday night, giving them a roughly five-day tracking period.

Just some artists have massive fanbases that actually stream. Most pop stars don't have that, at least rn I agree however I feel like 2019 is going to be a bigger year for pop if some of the big acts like Rihanna, Ed, Adele and Taylor drop some content. Lady Gaga and Beyoncé might also drop an album in 2019 as well. |
