Anybody know anything about the #2 song in iTunes, Jackson Wang's Different Game? Wang is a member of GOT7, so him getting some sales isn't surprising. But since American audiences seem to only care for Koreans when it comes to Asian music, I expect it to not last very long. Though he is from Hong Kong, so he may have a similar situation to Kris Wu and Jane Zhang. |

Lol good for Grande finally getting a #1, but I don't get why it's for this basic song. Because the chart is VERY weak rn. At this point a new single from any major artist could've debuted at one |

At this point a new single from any major artist could've debuted at one Sicko Mode, Zeze, Fefe, Mona Lisa, Lucky You, Killshot and maybe No Brainer would've the #1 debut if the released this week. |

I kind of agree... my best guess is: - The surprise nature of it gave it immediate buzz - It's about her personal life, which has gotten more attention than her music recently - It's a "personal empowerment" song with a title that is very quotable All good points. |

It’s also just a good song. Look at it having growth still on Spotify/Apple Music.
LWYMMD applies to all that – near surprise drop, was a controversial “diss” record, and tied closely to her personal drama at the time and we saw how that did after the beginning of release.
If the song suffers a sudden death like LWYMMD then we could attribute that stuff to being the reason for its success. However Thank U Next is getting positive reception almost everywhere while LWYMMD was panned and polarizing... so I don’t see it suffering the same fate.

When "thank u, next" debuts at #1, 2018 would tie 1995 for the record for most #1 debuts in a single year with four debuts.
It would also tie 1998 if you consider "I'm Your Angel" a debut, which Billboard doesn't.

Really happy for Ariana and pop music in general, but boy do I wish "breathin" was going #1 instead. Maybe its time will come. Edit: I do love how she says "this song is a smash". Damn right it is. With how weak the charts are, I'm surprised we don't have any artists really trying to capitalize on it. Besides maybe Ariana I guess with this stand alone relevant track. Her and her team are smart.

Ariana grande is becoming a legend. The amount of chart influence she has is incredible. Sis is keeping pop alive all by herself. She is the biggest female artist of 2018 behind Cardi B( Cardi b released a lot more music/features ). These numbers Ariana is pulling are truly legendary. She can sing AND put on a performance too. Ariana is truly unmatched.

Real friends wasn't a single and Consequences is still going Consequences has been released as a single for a month now and it hasn’t touched the Hot 100. Won’t do anything. It takes all Camila songs time to build, Havana and NBTS didn't peak till six-eight months after there release. I can see Consequences topping hot ac and going top ten on pop |

Of all Ariana songs to hit #1, it had to be one of her most mediocre singles that’s only as successful as it is because she’s capitalizing on her relationship that she whored out to the public at every step of the way. Yikes

When will Ariana's next album be released? Most likely 2019. It's extremely unusual for an artist to release two albums less than a year apart, let alone six months. I believe Pentatonix and BTS both did that this year. Hope it ain't a new trend. |
