As a non Barbra fan (no shade just not a fan couldn't name a song outside of Don't Lie To Me ) I'm actually shocked, like I'm not even a fan but I always thought she could release an album of nothing lol and get #1 Anyone no what happened? Just curious tbh The album is actually not half bad, it’s just that she made the album political and probably turned off buyers. Even right leaning people can enjoy her music if she leaves the politics out of it, but she was a bit on the nose with this one.

She's still #2 in sales, which is her bread and butter. We've seen a lot of veteran artists lately who had top ten (and even number one) albums in recent years struggle to make the top ten now. Streaming favors younger acts.

Doo-Wops & Hooligans reached the 400 weeks charted in the Billboard 200 milestone this week becoming the 9th album to do so. Next up CCR's Chronicle: The 20 Greatest Hits is at 392 weeks and 21 at 389. That is, unless Nirvana's Nevermind manages to get the week it needs to get to 400 before those two.

^ Bingo, album went #1 in 2016 and had a steep drop, then they released some stupid tour bundle, jumped from like 198 to 1 and dropped back into the lower 100’s.

I wonder will Metro Boomin will do the same thing next week??? Biggest drop was the Bon Jovi album This House is Not For Sale dropping from 1 to 169 The really weird thing is that that Bon Jovi album held the "biggest drop from #1 record" TWICE. When it was initially released it fell 1-43, setting the record. A couple of other albums had bigger falls after that, then the tour bundle kicked in and the Bon Jovi album re-entered at #1, falling to #169 and setting the record AGAIN for biggest fall from #1. So the same album set the record two different times for the biggest drop from #1...that's an amazing chart coincidence that will likely never be duplicated.

Khalid already down to #30, awful for him.. he needs to rebrand himself (and yes the album is short but none of the songs are actually hits right now, only Better is charting on Hot 100 and dropping there)

Album sales are down 17% in 2018. The way people talk here, you'd think they were down 60%.
Album Sales: 111,394,000 (-16.9%)
Breakdown:
CD Sales: 54,422,000 (-19.3%) Vinyl Sales: 11,902,000 (+13.3%) Digital Sales: 44,740,000 (-19.8%) Other Sales: 330,000 (+3.8%)

Kris Wu's 'Antares' Album Debuts on Billboard 200 Chart After Sales Audit
News
By Colin Stutz | November 13, 2018 9:45 PM EST
The Chinese super star's first album with Universal Music Group lands at No. 100 after some sales were deemed "unverified."
Chinese pop star Kris Wu's new album Antares debuted at No. 100 on the Billboard 200 albums chart dated Nov. 17, after some of its sales last week could not be adequately verified.
Antares arrived with 8,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 8, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, 5,000 were in album sales.
"Billboard and Nielsen Music have been working to validate the accuracy and legitimacy of the sales volumes that were reported for Kris Wu last week," a Nielsen rep said in a statement, speaking as Billboard's data provider. "As with all instances when providers are unable to validate sales, Nielsen decides on a case by case basis whether streaming or sales activity is chart-eligible. In this case, we did not receive the required validation of certain Kris Wu sales for last week and have decided to remove all unverified activity for the week ending November 8."
Wu's sales came under scrutiny following the album's Nov. 2 release, when his tracks quickly began dominating the U.S. iTunes sales chart, occupying the top seven song rankings. When Ariana Grande's new single, "thank u, next," dropped the next day, Wu managed to block her from the No. 1 slot and maintained seven out off the top eight spots on the chart.
Wu may be a household name in China with a rising global profile, but this kind of success on a U.S. chart for an act who just signed a global deal with Universal Music Group in April seemed to some too good to be true. Soon, some began speculating Wu gamed the system to manipulate his U.S. sales.
The prevailing story -- which was shared by Grande's manager, Scooter Braun, after speaking with Wu and his team -- is that the Chinese star held his release back in his homeland to coincide with his birthday on Nov. 6. That led to Chinese fans hacking into the U.S. iTunes store to purchase the album, hence driving it up the sales chart. Apple has not responded to requests for comment.
Meanwhile, Wu's label Universal Music Group says it's "thrilled" with the global success of Antares, his first album from Interscope, Island Records U.K. and Universal Music China. And while there may be disappointment over the sales that did not count towards the U.S. charts, the label is taking the long view, looking forward to building his star power internationally.
"In its first week, the album has already been certified seven-times Platinum in China, where it’s currently the top album on the country’s four biggest streaming services," said a UMG spokesperson. "With Antares, Kris Wu becomes the first Chinese recording artist to concurrently land in major industry and genre charts across the U.S., U.K., Australia and other parts of the world."
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

For example, only one album has sold 500k this year and it’s a 2017 release

Kris Wu's 'Antares' Album Debuts on Billboard 200 Chart After Sales AuditI think it is a good thing that they audited the data to more accurately reflect the truth. If that was the cause for the delay of the Billboard 200 article coming out from its original date, it was worth it.

As Drake’s Take Care slips 40-41 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart (dated Nov. 17), the 2011 set logs its 169th week on the ranking and secures the second-longest stay in the chart’s history, dating to its 1965 inception.
Care surpasses the 168-week sum of J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive and now trails only Kenny G’s Breathless, which holds the record with 185 frames. As both albums re-enter the chart regularly -- Drive has recorded 27 weeks on the survey in 2018, while Care has made the ranking every week this year -- they could contend for the all-time mark in the first half of 2019.
As Drake snags the silver medal, here’s a recap at the current leaderboard for most weeks on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums:
Weeks, Album, Artist 185, Breathless, Kenny G 169, Take Care, Drake 168, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, J. Cole 152, Curtain Call: The Hits, Eminem 146, good kid, m.A.A.d city, Kendrick Lamar 146, Greatest Hits, 2Pac 145, Beauty Behind The Madness, The Weeknd 140, The Eminem Show, Eminem 140, Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers), Wu-Tang Clan 132, Views, Drake
Notably, several of those albums, including Drive and Care, have benefited from a 2017 switch in the chart’s tabulation. Prior to the chart dated Feb. 11, 2017, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums was strictly a sales-based ranking. Since then, the chart has ranked albums based on multi-metric consumption through album sales, track-equivalent albums and streaming-equivalent albums and has allowed older catalog titles to qualify for re-entry. Consistent streams for both Drive and Care have helped the albums return to the chart after extended absences.
Breathless, however, also profited in one key way: During its run, a consecutive stretch of 183 weeks between December 1992 and June 1996, with three additional weeks later in 1996 and 1997, the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart encompassed 100 positions. It was then reduced to 75 slots in 2010 and its current length of 50 positions in 2013.

^According to his Kenny G's chart history, Breathless peaked at #2, while Miracles peaked at #1. Not to mention 17 albums have charted there.

I meant the style of music.
Kenny G is a sax player. Seems weird to me to call that R&B/Hip Hop these days

I guess technically it falls under R&B?

I understand it is confusing. I guess it is part of Billboard's weird definition of musical genres.

Billboard 200 Chart Moves: Bob Dylan Notches 48th Top 40 Album With 'More Blood, More Tracks' 11/17/2018 by Keith Caulfield Christopher Polk/Getty Images for VH1 Bob Dylan onstage during the 17th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards held at The Hollywood Palladium on Jan. 12, 2012 in Los Angeles.
On the latest Billboard 200 albums chart (dated Nov. 17), producer Metro Boomin notched his first No. 1 with the arrival of Not All Heroes Wear Capes. The surprise set starts with 99,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending Nov. 8, according to Nielsen Music. Of that sum, just 5,000 were in album sales — the bulk of the rest were driven by streaming activity. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week’s most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Now, let’s take a closer look at some of the action on the rest of the Billboard 200: — Ariana Grande, Sweetener – No. 11 — Thanks to the buzz generated by Grande’s new single “Thank U, Next,” her two previous albums surge on the list. Sweetener climbs 20-11 with 35,000 units (up 45 percent) while Dangerous Woman vaults 192-108 with 8,000 units (up 58 percent).
— Bob Dylan, More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 14 – No. 25 — The legend collects his 48th top 40-charting album with his latest archival release, More Blood, More Tracks: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 14 (21,000 units; 20,000 in album sales). The effort compiles the studio recordings Dylan made in 1974 that would turn into his 1975 album Blood on the Tracks. The new compilation was issued in a number of configurations, including a single disc edition, a double-LP vinyl set and a deluxe box. Blood on the Tracks reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated March 1, 1975, and spent two weeks atop the list. It was Dylan’s second of five No. 1s.
— Metallica, …And Justice for All – No. 49 — Metallica’s first top 10-charting album, …And Justice for All, returns to the list for the first time in more than a year, thanks to a new 30th anniversary deluxe reissue of the album. The set was remastered and reissued on Nov. 2 and is available in an array of deluxe editions, many with a robust number of bonus tracks. And Justice for All was released in 1988 and peaked at No. 6 on the chart dated Oct. 8, 1988. The album would later launch the band’s first Billboard Hot 100 hit single, “One,” which reached No. 35 on April 8, 1989. The track also marked the group’s first entry on the Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart, topping out at No. 46 on March 18, 1989. So far, Metallica has racked up 16 entries on the Hot 100 and 36 hits on the Mainstream Rock Songs tally.
— Michael Bublé, Christmas – No. 92 — The former No. 1 album makes its annual return to the tally, as it jumps back onto the list at No. 92 with 9,000 units (up 139 percent). The album spent five weeks at No. 1 in December of 2011 and January of 2012. Since then, it has revisited the top 10 in every Christmas season. In 2017, it notched three weeks in the top 10: Dec. 16-30.
— Kids See Ghosts, Kids See Ghosts – No. 166 — The album’s belated release on vinyl LP on Nov. 2 spurs the set’s re-entry at No. 166 (6,000 units; up 71 percent). The album sold 3,000 copies in the latest tracking week (up 536 percent), and vinyl LP sales represented 87 percent of that sum. Kids See Ghosts was initially released on June 8 to streaming services and digital retailers. It then was issued on CD on Sept. 28.
— David Archuleta, Winter in the Air – No. 191 — After five years away from the Billboard 200, David Archuleta is back on the list with his new holiday effort, Winter in the Air. The album arrives with 5,000 units earned (nearly all from album sales). The singer was last on the tally in the spring of 2013 with No Matter How Far, which debuted and peaked at No. 110 on April 13, 2013. Winter in the Air also debuts at No. 6 on the Holiday Albums chart, notching Archuleta his second top 10 on the tally (following 2009’s No. 2-peaking Christmas From the Heart).
