This goes for adds November 4. It's probably from their Greatest Hits collection coming out the 18th.

Apparently there may be two new tracks on their greatest hits compilation: "Fortune Faded" (Fading?)and "History".
from UNDERCOVER:
The band have announced the album will start with their first hit "Higher Ground" from their 1989 album Mother's Milk (although it was their forth album) .
From Blood Sugar Sex Majik you will hear "Give It Away," "Under The Bridge," "Breaking The Girl" and "Suck My Kiss.
1995's One Hot Minute gives up "My Friends"
Californication tracks are "Scar Tissue," "Otherside," "Parallel Universe" and "Road Trippin'."
Last year's By The Way offers "Universally Speaking" and the title track.
And there is also, "Soul To Squeeze," originally heard on the 1993 soundtrack to Coneheads has been made available for the very first time on a Red Hot Chili Peppers album.
The two new tracks will be 'Fortune Fading' and 'History'.

I don't like this track listing... it's not really their greatest hits.
How is "Road Trippin'" on it, but not "Around the World" and "Californication"?
"Universally Speaking" is on it, but where's "The Zephyr Song," "Can't Stop," and "Dosed"?
And where's "Love Rollercoaster"?

This is the tracklisting that CDNow has for their greatest hits:
1. Higher Ground 2. Give It Away 3. Under The Bridge 4. Suck My Kiss 5. Soul To Squeeze 6. Aeroplane 7. My Friends 8. Scar Tissue 9. Suck My Kiss 10. Otherside 11. Californication 12. Road Trippin’ 13. By The Way 14. The Zephyr Song 15. Can’t Stop 16. Universally Speaking
Nothing about any new songs, although I did see somewhere that the CD was supposed to have 16 hits, plus 2 new ones, so maybe these are the 16 hits, w/o the 2 new ones listed.
Also, maybe this will allow for "Universally Speaking" to still be released as a single, since it's on the GH album.

I have the same questions as JerseyBoy. Why are so many of their hits not included?
I don't know how reliable the track listing I posted from UNDERCOVER is. It seemed to be missing way too many tracks.

I started to say something, but realized it was already covered in a previous reply.
Now back to your regularly scheduled argument...

Also, maybe this will allow for "Universally Speaking" to still be released as a single, since it's on the GH album. I don't think so, since "Fortune Faded" is already being promoted as a single. (My station is already playing it) I'm more curious to know when their next album will be released, since during the sessions recording the two tracks for the album they recorded at least 13 more, which they said may be enough for an album.

Well, I have heard this song for the last two weeks... and I have to say it hasn't impressed me much. It's good, but nothing new... Maybe after this greatest hits it's time to take the risk and release something different as they do with "Californication"

to answer the questions i've read earlier.. i'll answer the way RHCP answered a few years ago "What Hits?" ;)
i got to say i'm very shocked that most of the tracks seem to come from "By the Way" but then again, it did quite well

I can't wait for their GH collection. RHCP is an awesome band. I've heard "Fortune Faded." It's a great song. Definetly should be as big as their other hits from their last album were.

I don't think so, since "Fortune Faded" is already being promoted as a single. (My station is already playing it) Well, that didn't stop KROQ from blasting it up in their rotation to damn near the top this past week.

Well, that didn't stop KROQ from blasting it up in their rotation to damn near the top this past week. So they put it in their rotation. Good for them. I wish my station would do that, but since they never even played "Dosed", fat chance that'll happen.

Anyone else surprised this isn't shooting straight to the Top 3 region? I was almost positive it would. Now it barely scarped the Top 10 and it already lost its bullet...it could rebound but still. I thought this would be an instant big hit!

I thought this would be an instant big hit! I think part of the reason this is struggling is because their Greatest Hits collection sold less than 100,000 copies in its first week, when I estimated it'd sell just slightly less than "By The Way" sold in its first week at about 225,000 copies. I too am shocked, as I figured it'd bolt to the Top 5 in about two months, but it may be tougher than I thought now. Too bad because it is quite a catchy tune while also maintaining their signature sound. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I'm not. If it's not from a real album then it doesn't last on this chart.

You must admit, however, that "Moses" by Coldplay is doing quite well considering it's off a live album. It's just outside the Top 20, not far from where "In My Place" and "The Scientist" peaked.

Yeah...well it's an average sized hit for them, but it didn't really take that long to hit its peak and I don't think it's going to be in the top 50 for much more than 4-6 weeks. Kind of similar to "Fortune Faded" (which will last more than 4-6 weeks due to its higher current position).

Hey, speaking of which, where does the Foo Fighters cover of "Darling Nikki" come from? It certainly wasn't on the original issuing of "One By One". Have they re-released the album with this cover as a bonus track, is it off a movie soundtrack...?
It has been creeping up the Top 50 for quite some time now, and they can get a sleeper hit at this rate.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"Darling Nikki" was meant to be a B-side on a single for "Have It All" (which is on One By One). But then stations like KROQ and WHNS got ahold of it and started spinning it, then it started to spread a bit--enough to reach the point where Roswell Records is probably putting a little money behind the song by now.

"Hero" and "Outside" anyone? "Outside" IS on a Staind album. However, "Hero" peaked at #1 and that is only off of the Spider-Man motion picture soundtrack. I'm still a bit suprised "Fortune Faded" doesn't currently have a +200 bullet or so like "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"Outside" IS on a Staind album. Yes, but the live version was a big hit first. The "Mission: Impossible 2" soundtrack had the hits Metallica: "I Disappear" (did better on Active Rock and Rock than on Alternative), Limp Bizkit: "Take A Look Around" (this song had a video not released in the United States if I remember correctly), and the third I think was called "N.I.B." or something. Did Alternative play No Doubt: "New" from the "Go" soundtrack? Songs released on soundtracks and then albums like "Bring Me To Life," "Where Are You Going," "Did My Time" (I think they put it on their album), and "Sleeping Awake" (I don't know if they put it on their album) have made the Alternative chart.

"Hero" probably spilled off the chart faster than any #1 I've seen in the last 4 years. All I said was "it doesn't last".
Which version of "Outside" does 99 out of 100 radio stations still play? That's right, the album version. I kinda wish they'd mix it up a bit. There has to be some people out there (like me) that think the live version is (much) better.
Also, "N.I.B." was by Primus featuring Ozzy Osbourne, and I haven't looked at the rock chart in a while, but it wouldn't surprise me if this was still in its top 20. I had no idea it was from a soundtrack. I've never even knowingly heard it.

I don't think the song is new and fresh at all, it sounds like a re-worked version of about anything off their last couple of albums. The expectation for them is something new, and this song is not it.

Big RHCP fan here, and I think "Fortune Faded" sounds nothing like the material from By the Way or Califnornication. Well, maybe a little just because it's still RHCP, but... "Fortune Faded" just seems different to me.
