From a Tin Pan South writers show they played some songs they recently got cut. Jenn Schott performed “I Hope You Feel It” which was cut by Rascal Flatts; “7500OYBO” cut by Tim McGraw. Jennifer Hanson sang “Some Things You Don’t Forget” cur by Jason Aldean. The Tim and Jason cuts were really great!! You’re here in town? Yes Matt! 😬

Strange that we heard no collabs on the upcoming Thomas Rhett album because he has songs on it featuring Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini, and Jon Pardi (wut...)...

Strange that we heard no collabs on the upcoming Thomas Rhett album because he has songs on it featuring Little Big Town, Kelsea Ballerini, and Jon Pardi (wut...)... Granger Smith announced on his Facebook page that a new album will be released at the end of 2019, with a new song coming every month until then, starting with “Holler” that was just released Friday.
He made some comments in the video announcement which, to me, alluded to the fact he’s tired of promoting a single for 6+ months only to have it stall out. This seems like something an independent artist would do, and not something a label would get behind. Does anyone know if Wheelhouse dropped him after his latest bust of a single?
For what it’s worth, I like the new song. It’s definitely rock-leaning, kind of like something Jason Aldean would record. Doubtful that many users on this site will be a fan of it. Not sure if it’s an official single or not.

I don’t know, the whole thing seems odd.

Saw on some promo ads that Jack Ingram's album will be released on April 26th instead. And Justin Moore's album is delayed for three months. New date is July 26th.

God bless Jason Aldean for being such an ambassador for the traditional country movement in recent years. It goes without saying that without his contributions and sacrifices, this entire genre would be in a much darker place right now!

It's really too bad we won't be getting any of the traditional country he's given us in the last few albums with non-rock songs like "Lights Come On," "Girl Like You," "Gonna Know We Were Here," "They Don't Know," "Rearview Town," "Just Gettin' Started," "When She Says Baby"...

If Jason Aldean thought his last few albums were "traditional country", I can't even think about how NOT-country his next album will be. We don't need an album full of "Lights Come On"...

Between Aldean and Shelton it’s just annoying how they seem to rush their albums. Prime examples of selling out. Take your time and focus on quality, like Eric Church (who should be artist of the decade)

I would just ignore whatever Aldean says honestly. He said something very similar about his last album, how it was going to have more rocking uptempo songs, but the album really didn’t have much of it all. I think he just says whatever’s he’s thinking about at the moment.

His new album will still be more country than Thomas Rhett, FGL, Brett Young, Dan + Shay, King Calaway, and Walker Hayes combined. "More country" is not always synonymous with "good quality". We all know your stance on these artists that don't cater to your taste in music, but I'd take Thomas Rhett, Brett Young, and Dan + Shay any day over "She's Country", "My Kinda Party", "Take a Little Ride", "The Only Way I Know", "1994", "Burnin' It Down", or "Lights Come On", which it sounds like Aldean's next album will feature mostly songs in that vein. I, and many others here, aren't here for that new direction especially since his last two eras have been great quality-wise. Quality is what I want from Jason - I could not care less the amount of "country" he infuses into his next record.

Why are you listening to country if you could not care less about the amount of "country"? That's what's wrong with so much of the music today- it's NOT country. FGL did better with their recent album, but the others such as Dan + Shay or Brett Young are not country whatsoever. The only way Thomas Rhett gets credit is for some of his album cuts.

FGL did better with their recent album, but the others such as Dan + Shay or Brett Young are not country whatsoever. The only way Thomas Rhett gets credit is for some of his album cuts. Last time I checked, people are allowed to enjoy more than just one genre of music. I like traditional country. I like modern country. I like pop. I like hip-hop. I like alternative. I don't care what genre any artist falls into, I just want want quality music. Again, I'll reiterate, "more country" is not synonymous with "good quality". You can have a preference for (or only respect for) the traditional country sound, but that's not the only thing that country music is anymore in 2019. So yes, Dan + Shay would not be considered "country" back in 1989, but they most certainly are "country" in 2019. But in the streaming age where more and more people are not dependent on radio for listening and particularly discovering new music, genres mean less and less and less. I understand why that is frustrating to the "purists", but the constant complaining isn't going to shrink the net that's been cast to dictate what qualifies as "country" today. A straight up trap song just charted on the Country Airplay Chart and I bet it won't be the last one. The net is just going to grow wider and wider, but that doesn't mean that "traditional country" is lost. There's always going to be a market for that, even if that's no longer the only style of country your radio station decides to play.

I never said somebody couldn't enjoy that music, but don't call it country.
